People that have really nice comps like you have but only run 1GB of ram just need the upgrade. Ask anyone who upped their memory what kind of difference it made. Everyone I know that did this have seen night and day differences.
My system is only basic with an AMD 3000+ and a 128mb 9800 pro but i run 2 gig of ram and have no probs with any map with all settings on med and res at 1028 x 764

that definately doesnt work. i turned my sound to software and the game was virtually unplayable with lag. now i have returned it to hardware and played with the vid settings, its fine. the game definately clashes with some systems. this was the case with vanilla when it was released and some older ati cards, they clashed. everyone will play with there settings and eventually sort it out or change components to do so. a few screens would have been thrown at walls due to a rushed release date.:hmm:

I think rombaft has given the best explanation so far for the lag on those two maps. It also explains why not everyone is experiencing it.

The combination of players with weak machines on high settings & and a poor rendering engine are causing lag for everyone. Sounds like the solution is to play on servers with less people, as there would be less a chance of having a high prevalance of players causing the ****ty rendering to lag everyone to death.

Anyway, thats why I don't play SF anymore. If EA doesn't fix it, then I don't play SF, period. If EA releases another expansion, I will wait next time and see what the feed-back and reviews are. If it turns out its a piece of crap like SF then I wont buy it. Sooner or later EA will get the pictire when sales are not what they expect.
you already bought it, therefore, they dont care.

I run all high settings on my machine with no lag on any map in BF2 or SF, I did have lag on Darqin Oilfields but then I changed my Apeture size in bios from 128 (default) to 256 and since doing that everything runs fine.

            My System:
            Amd XP3000+ Barton
            2gig 3200 DDR
            Galaxy Glacier 6800GT 256 AGP
            2x80 Gig Sata HDD
            Pioneer 8x8DVDrw
            Onboard Soundstorm audio
            450Watt Enermax PSU
1024x786 x4AA all settings on high.

I'm just gonna poke into this thread here to issue a gigantic:

              I TOLD YOU SO!

to all those that bought SF and are experienceing technical difficulties wiith it.

              comon, use your brains!

Lets see... BF2 is buggy... and is probably the least optimized and least efficeint game engine out there...

So lets buy the overhyped, previewed as having massive bugs expansion!

There is no way EA is just putting the bare minimum of effort into an expansion to make more money instead of fixing the original game first!

              Long live the boycott!

I've only got a 9800 pro, and a athlon 2600, but warlord runs perfect for me in 32, and very well in 64. Maybe you guys might turn your settings down before complaining?

Re: EA's response to the buggy Warlord map...

Let me explain something to all you guys that say to quit complaining about the game. I used to say the same thing. I would get so mad at the people that would constantly complain about bugs, "noobs" (what a stupid term), fill-in-the-blank whores, etc. But when the SF expansion came out I started to experience some real issues. Where people have gotten really disappointed is that the Battlefield 2 RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS included in the packaging say that a system with an Nvidia 6800 video card or higher can run this game on its highest settings. That's not me making it up. It says it right there on the Nvidia insert in the package. It also recommends 1 GB of RAM. You'll see in my sig that I have a highER end machine that meets the RECOMMENDED requirements, not the MINIMUM requirements.

Yes, I'm starting to realize that you need more power than the recommended requirements to run this game. That's not even the point. The point is that there are people with a lot more power in their PC's that have trouble on the Warlord and Iron Gator maps too. Next time you're in one of these maps, ask everyone if they have lag issues. You'll be surprised at how many people say "Yes, especially in the buildings." People are disappointed because they thought their top of the line machines would run this game correctly and they don't. Some of them are mad because they built new machines in anticipation of this game and still can't run it correctly.

I am not one to complain about having to blow a bunch of money on a PC. I love building PC's, and I love having more power. The one I'm on now isn't even a year old, and I'm in the midst of building a new one. (Not because of this game, but because I am a computer geek.) But the fact that you have to have a PC that's a generation ahead of the minimum system requirements to run this game is absolutely absurd.

The fact of the matter is that this game was sloppily coded, and EA/Dice aren't going to do much about it. If this game were made on something like Valve's Source engine, Id's Doom 3 engine, or the Unreal 3.0 engine, it would not have the problems that it does. I ran Half Life 2 flawlessly on my old PC that had much less horsepower than this one, and it was a better looking game. There is absolutely no excuse for this except for the fact that the game wasn't tested enough, and was rushed out the door. Believe me, I know how to build a PC for gaming, and Special Forces should run better on the current generation hardware that meets or exceeds the system requirements. Case closed.

                    my spec:
                    all stock frequency

                    Ati 9800 pro
                    AMD64 3400+ clawhammer (1mb cache)
                    1G ram
                    ATA133 HD

                    setting: 1024@768, 2X AF
all medium, dyanmic lighting + dyanmic shadow off, texture and geometry = high

                    FPS average at 60

here is the tip kids, turn off dynamic lighting and shadow, you won't notice a thing, but it runs 4 times faster.

Every time I play Warlord, I ask everyone in the server if they have lag issues on this map, and a lot of people answer yes. With the system that I list in my signature, I have issues on this map, even after a reformat and fresh install of XP, fresh install of the game, and all the most up to date drivers and BIOS. I've had to turn some settings down just to make this map playable, and that is completely ridiculous.

I used to get angry when people would complain so much about the bugginess of this game, but the bugginess has finally touched my life as well. So much in fact that I might wait until next month when I have my new gaming PC to even try it again. Warlord always slows down to a crawl, and sometimes even crashes my system. If any of you are having this problem, PLEASE COMPLAIN TO EA!!!!!!

And again, the point has been missed. I know, I should have another gig of RAM. I will have a new machine by the end of the month with a 7800 GTX and 2 GB of RAM. That's NOT the issue. The issue is that I shouldn't have to buy another gig of RAM, and neither should anyone else. I can run F.E.A.R. on all settings maxed out, the same with Half Life 2. Both are better looking games than this one.

I have been building PCs for a long time, so the "noob" comment is unnecessary. In fact, the people that use that stupid f-ing word are usually the biggest noobs in the game.

The bottom line is, as has been mentioned on this and other threads, is that DICE decided to add lots of interior without modifying their exterior-"optimised" 3D engine. The result is as you see on Warlord and Iron Gator... *crrrrunch*. Perhaps another stick of RAM will solve the issue, whether or not that's correct on principal would be the subject for another thread.

not enough RAM in that system of yours. Remmber, you only lag in the temple because there is so much action in that 1 area of the map ( temple) so upgrading your RAM will reduce lag greatly so it can load everything thats going on wuicker instead of sending the memory straight to your harddrive. set yourself up with 2 gigs and mose of the lag will dissapear.
