You're one of the people I like to ban from our server and someone who gives tank operators a bad name. SPAWN CAMPERS ARE WEAK. If you don't have the skill to move around and do something usefull, you should go back to collecting Star Wars Figures and plying with them alone in your room.
Whatever, man. That's the answer to his "how do you get those high ratios" question. Don't blame me for telling it how it is.

Your right. That may be the answer you give because thats how you have to get those ratios, but some of us can get them without spawn camping. It does not change the fact that camping a spawn point is pathetic and you notice no one here has come to defend you for it.
My ratio in a tank is 4+ and your is 5+. I dont camp and you do. Seems like I can easily get to your ratio without playing cheap. You do what you have to do. Not to mention you have 1,257 kills with a n00b t00b? Dude, cmon. Advice on how to play from someone like you may not be the best to take.
I also notice your team score sucks, and you don't like helping grab flags....... hmmm...

don't forget too you can get a better k/d ratio not only by camping... noob player(camper) have a high kill/death ratio cuz they camp... very skilled player too (not by camping but fighting like man) get a high k/d ratio if they are good enough.
everybpdy taking a tank anyway and know how to use it... from one extreme to another can have a greater k/d ratio than a normal infantry player.
Treads are, from any side of the tank, always the weakest spot so ALWAYS aim for them.
Say a tank has 20 HP. Hitting the treads from the side takes 9HP off and hitting the UNDERSIDE of the treads (which you can only see from the front or rear) takes 10 off. So it is either 2 or 3 hits when you hit the treads.
Shooting the treads, always a good choice.
And always think "if I were a spec ops, where is the ideal place for a tanks to be if I wanted to C4 it?" and then don't go there.
Back to the main topic. I also thought there should be a good guide to tank tatics somewhere. Since I have a few more resorces to pull from than most players, I was going to find one to get an edge, but appearently there isnt a definative armor guide.Even when searching a few military sources that I have all I could come up with is a guide for combining forces. Outside of the obvious, use your cover wisely etc., I would say your tatics are anyones guess. The worst thing that you can do is to stand still for to long, more than one or two seconds. Next and almost as bad is to let yourself get boxed in, always have an escape route in mind, and dont be afraid to cut and run. Probably the biggest mistake some new players make is to bail from a tank when the health is half gone, I have killed several people lately with thier own tank then taken the tank and got it repaired, try and make a mental note of any supply boxes you come across. IMO if I were in that tight (bad) of a spot I would stay in the armor get killed and respawn with the armor. A lot better choice than giving the enemy a free piece of armor. Probably the best thing for new people to do is watch the other armor drivers and learn from them and try and team up with other pieces of armor whenever possible.....Red
Uh... I don't either? I mean, you said it yourself, my ratio is 5. If I spawn camped, it'd be way higher. Don't jump to conclusions about people, prick.
I also get more team points per hour than you do. So if my score sucks...
So your just as pathetic as the other guy, thanks for the heads up.
If you have to camp a spot where players spawn, you don't deserve to win. Players like you make me ill.
Yeah yeah just because you can operate the tank near flags, people should immediatly do the same thing?
Camping is a strategie anyway so just hold it back. Just be glad YOU can roll around a map and capture flags (wich seems more fun anyway).
Dont tell me I'm an idiot camper now I still have to get the game
Edit: Maybe your just an above average tank driver I mean look at it that way....
Yeah, and I cap over twice as many flags as you do per hour.... who cares.
Look, my point has been and still is that camping a spawn point to get your ratio higher is a cheap and childlike way to play this game. Most players expect a level playing field and when people use tactics like that, it ruins the game for the rest of us.
If you don't do it, then why would you propagate it by telling this guy that's how you get those ratios? Why wouldn’t you tell him to just keep practicing and getting more proficient at using a tank? It stuns me that anyone would offer such a n00b-like tactic as a suggestion to someone on how to accomplish something in the game unless they use the tactic themselves. Pretty simple and common assumption based in the most rudimentary rules of psychology.
Rudimentary rules of psychology, eh? I don't know about that. Buddy wanted to know how to get high ratios. I told him how. Nothing particularly deep or Freudian about it. Question and answer, as I already said.
And "who cares." Well... you brought it up. Might want to check the numbers before you start insulting people next time, eh?

Before you can call me names, ask youself if you foolishly charge into a flag guarded by 4 AT and 1 spec op and attempt to cap it.
If you don't, and perfer to neutralize the threats first or waiting for infantry support, then you are just as sad as i am.
I didn't mean to start all of the fighting in this thread. Sorry about that guys. I was asking about the ratios because I was curious what people do. Personally, I enjoy finding a group of my teammates and sitting behind them with cover fire while they attack whichever flag. Does that sound cheap to cover my teammates? I also love it when guys spot armor b/c I try to figure out some kind of a way to flank them or hit them from the rear. I figured these were ok tactics. From what I figure, the #1 purpose of armor should be to take out the opposing armored forces. Am I wrong to think this and that #2 is to cover your own teammates while they try to capture points?
Given the low numbers of tanks on any given map, you're generally going to run into an awful lot of other stuff than enemy armor while tanking. Tanks are good for pinning enemies back in one of their bases, or preventing them from rushing up on one of yours. Setup near chokepoints (bridges, gates, ramps, etc) and control traffic.
Lighter vehicles tend to juke on the approach to avoid a main shot, but speed off in a straight line past you to gain distance. Therefore, use the machine gun at first directly on the driver's position. If you kill him, the vehicle rolls to a stop and you've still got a round loaded to blow the whole thing before one of the passengers figures out to get in the drivers seat again. You've also saved a main round for splash damage in case everybody bails. If he makes it around you, its an easy shot right in the tail. Be wary of the ones heading straight for you though as they may be packed with C4.
APCs have a nasty missle attack, but fortunately a long reload time. Thus, dealing with APCs is all in the timing. If you see the APC first, pop a smoke cloud, hit the APC and retreat into the smoke. Keep your nose on him because you can see his tag through the smoke and keep the pressure on while he may never even see you. If you come across each other at the same time, pop smoke and back up through an arc - not a straight line. If you have enough distance, the missile will fly through the space where you were. Then charge him. You need to take him down before he reloads. If caught off-guard, you might want to retreat to lick your wounds / call for a supply crate. Just keep your front towards him, even if you have to drive backwards. [Practice driving backwards a lot, it will save you in tight spaces]. When facing armor, many of these tactics apply - only it all happens a lot faster.
Attack choppers can be difficult, mostly because you only get so much elevation with the primary gun. Dont forget to use terrain features such as rocks, hills, ramps and even steps to gain artificial elevation on at least half of your arc. Commonly, a chopper will come straight at you nose down. The best chance of surviving a TV attack is by getting underneath the chopper. You can only click a TV downwards so fast. Its almost worth driving straight through a stream of missiles in order to avoid the TV. Use smoke wisely, and hop in the machine nest to pepper his underside passing over. If you bite him good enough, you might scare him off. Its also good to see which way he rotates around so you can maneuver a building or some trees between on his next pass. In general, dont pepper the helis near you if they havent seen you (as the red damage indicator tells them where you are). Search the skies around bases farther away. The tank shot has a pretty flat trajectory and there's no better feeling than taking out a heli thats on the edge of your visible range.
Versus infantry, avoid situations where a SpecOps or AT can quietly flank you from behind. This can be mitigated by carrying a machine gunner on top or by working with ground forces. If you can keep a squad of guys alive for a few minutes on a pub server, you'll find they'll do anything they can to keep you alive too. Dont forget to use your smoke to help them cross open areas / cap flags. Call for UAVs and have a plan where to go if you see someone running for you with C4.
Last tip, three red bars = run. One red bar = ram. If you cant bail and run far enough to survive when your tank blows up - at least take your opponent out with you.
written by a serious clan player, I suggest you take a lot at it, Parish.
"Most people think that, during a rush, a tank's purpose is best served running right into the flag radius and attempting to cover all enemy spawns while capturing the flag. This is the worst idea since Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. In essence tanks do not attack, they camp, therefore in order for you to become a good match tanker you must be a good camper! "
