This is not "fact" but just a possibility. The fact that tons of people with high end machines could play a smooth game pre SF/1.12 (and still can play other games just fine) clearly suggests that there´s something wrong with the patch, not with people "screwing up their comps".

Agreed. There is something wrong with the 1.12 patch or sf. Its seems that some hardware combinations are causing problems. Mostly nvidia guys i think. I hope the developers find and fix the problems.

of course it is and it makes no sense, that's what the video settings are for. Tone it down yourself. You're basically saying that because you feel that your rig should be able to handle everything at high, that the perception of "high" should be altered to fit your desires. Then, once "high" is actually "medium", but it's the highest avaliable setting, you win. But the rest of us lose. Sure, I have to tone Special Forces down a little to enjoy it, but I wouldn't give up my high settings in regular BF2 for anything. I don't understand your argument.

Unfortunately, this game was MADE for Nvidia graphics cards, and I wouldn't be caught dead running an ATI.

I'll agree with GunSlinger. The maps in SF have definitely taken a hit since those of the original BF2. It seems as if there is increased lag on several of them and the ones that run smoothly seem to be the ones that are not as fun to play on. Maybe a future patch will introduce something that relieves the lag, but who knows.

Before you guys go and say that its my system, I assure you its not. I've got a P4 3.2ghz, 2gb ddr ram, nVidia geForce6800 gt oc, and plenty of other stuff.

In regards to my net connection, I'm running on a 6000/384 connection, so I'm doubting that's part of the problem.

The bizarre thing is, is that alot of the maps in SF are basically black. If anything, FPS should have improved, not reduced...

Sounds about right to me.

The timeframe involved in the release was perty effing tight. With luck we'll see some improvment come via patchs. There's simply no way they could have done an proper optimization of those levels in the time they had.

And too damned true about the Christmas Bonus.

I dunno... maybe I just tend to have a soft heart for Dice and a harder heart for EA. I just don't see it that way. But while I admit that Special Forces looks a bit better, I can't say that it makes sense that it's such a big "P" hit. *shrugs* I dunno. It's just a bit crazy really.

it got better when i did a driver cleaner and installed the new drivers, i play 64player maps, and a lil drag inside the US ship on Iron Gator, but not enough to kill me and lose

Whoever is suggesting to turn down settings to the original poster has not read his specs. He SHOULD NOT have to turn settings down with that setup.

Oh yeah, I also have 2GB of mem. Btw - even when I tweak the settings, it's still CPU bottlenecked.

I have the same system almost as poster, yes the frame rates are too low I get 25-40 most of the time.

However, the battlefield engine just cannot seem to handle being 'indoors', anyone remember the cave on bf1942 (DC?) it was laggy as hell in there.
