Why are people with BF2:SF able to use new stuff in BF2?

I may be wrong, please correct me if so.

However, it seems that SF2 people are able to connect to BF2 servers and use SF2 weapons and flashbangs. This is completely unfair for those with out that expansion...especially seeing that the SF2 weapons are supposodly "overpowered".


People who want to play BF2 should get BF2. Those who want to play SF should get SF. However, forcing players with BF2 to put up with the new stuff of SF without having any way of getting it is just flat out unfair.

Think of StarCraft. An expansion came out with new units. You decide if you want to play StarCraft, or StarCraft: Brood War. Those with SC play with SC players, while those with BW play with BW players. It would be completely unfair for those with only SC if BW players could connect to SC games and use the new units and abilities.

I didn't buy SF because...I don't want to deal with it...but now I'm being FORCED to deal with it? If I at least had the ability to also get the stuff, then maybe it's not so bad, but come on, now you have players with powerful weapons and flash bangs and you have no counter to it.

In escence, it gives players who gave EA MORE money than others a great advantage over those who only bought BF2. How is that fair? Heck, that's like bribing, if you think about it.

It's EA's way of trying to FORCE you to buy the expansion.

They figure, if they make it unfair for vanilla players, they are going to have to shell out the cash to be on an even playing field again.

Good marketing. Horrible PR concept though.

That's ignoring the problem, killing him and picking it up. It's just like making 1 player in the server have a million health and have super guns. You could could him...eventually...and pick up his weapon and get the health...but heck...why on earth is there a super guy in there to begin with?

BF2-SF is an expansion to the original. Those who paid the extra cash for the expansion get to play with the new toys in the whole game.. An expansion is, expanding the original content... Anyone who chooses to pay for it can play with it. If you choose not to buy, that is your choice, but it isn't unfair of EA/Dice to allow those who purchased the expansion to play in all servers with the new equipment.. It's called, getting what u payed for..

Yurp. It was a very smart marketing move.
It's a little on the dastardly side, but Content creation ain't free. If you want more *stuff* the franchise needs to be supported via your bucks.

Some people don't have the funds to just go out and buy anything they want. This is nothing but giving people who give more money far greater advantages and abilities over normal players. Completely unfair. How would you feel if a millionaire got into the game, sent $10,000, and was given admin in any server he wanted?

Aight, let's make it a bit more realistic. What if they made it where, if you gave them $100, they give you a super weapon that is only available if you send them the money. How fair do you think that is? That's exactly what's going on, except it's not as expensive.

Would that be an unfair advantage?

Why is that SF players who bought the expansion have some right to bring the new weapons into vanilla BF2?

Following your logic, I should also be able to bring in weapons into vanilla BF2 from various mods.

The new weapons are new toys for those that bought the exp., they are not over powered at all

The flas bangs can be unfair but then again you would be dead if it were a nade

The difference is that the company that is supposed to be stewarding the game balance created this issue.

I've used everything except the MG36 in regular BF2 (no, still haven't bought SF), and despite the success they bring me, I have to be fair and admit that the FN2000 and G36E feel like significant improvements over the guns available to non-SF players.

It could be that I'm having a lot of on-nights, or that I just forgot how good the old guns were, but they seem like a marked advantage.

Oh, and I never use flashbangs, despite having them. There's usually not a lot of time for them in BF2 gameplay.

just buy the expansion, but now I dont even play on Vanilla BF2 servers anymore, SF is too much fun
