It is possible to be in the front of a boat and then throw a grappling hoook to the deck of the ship? Or is the Deck too high for that? Just a thought.
Yeah thats actually a good idea...except that EA specifically removed the grappling hook from Iron Gator in the patch. I have no idea as to why they did that though cause that would probably the best use of it for any map.
every time I have played this map MEC has won. I always play MEC except for once and that time we lost to the MEC. once MEC gets on the ship then its a matter of who can work better to keep the flags. it can go either way at that point with no one with any real advantage.

Probably because it caused a bug they couldn't be assed to fix, so remove the hook
If the teams are approximately balanced in terms of skill, the US side will always win Iron Gator by miles.
I agree. Sure the MEC can win but if you've got skilled people on both sides the US will win almost every time. We played this map quite a few times with very good people on each team. The MEC side squads up, knows how to fly and how to evade the Essex AA turret, knows to expect the US forces in the back of the ship and use the APC to suppress their fire for the guys in the RIBs/jetskis, we even use the APC to take out the AA turret, we man the mobile AA at the base, we have good pilots on the attack chopper flying cover for the RIBs, jet skis, APC. If squad leaders die and someone else is alive, they leave and rejoin the squad. We know all the tactics and its still not enough if the other team knows all those tactics too.
The bottom line is that the single transport helo can only hold 6 people, including the pilot. Assuming a 32 person map, all the US force has to do is put 4-5 people in the back to cover the RIBs, jet skis, APC and have the rest on the deck to take out the parachuters. Now if the US attack chopper happens to get taken out and spawns on the deck at the same time a MEC guy successfully lands on the deck then things will probably swing the other way.
Unless the MEC team really suck they will eventually get a flag on board the ship... Once that happens things can get awkward for the US guys, fighting on two fronts... They simply need to have caused enough damage to the MEC team that the MEC team is already doomed by them time this happens...
A lot is dependent on the quality of the people who jump into the attack choppers on both sides...
For the MEC the best place to start is usually the infiltrating to the front of he ship and the flag at that end of the hanger as it is the furthest from the action so you should be able to cap it and hold it long enough for people to start spawning...
What can happen quite often is the US dominate the air and above deack and the MECs end up with all the below deck flags. Then it is just a battle of attrition to the end...
It's pretty easy to fly the MEC choppers around to the blind side of the Carrier's AA site and drop people off at the flag at that end of the ship. And you shouldn't have many people on the deck because the Tunguska can spray that whole side of the ship with it's guns.
But when the Tunguska is spraying, the MEC guys can't be there either. And when it stops, the US team intercepts the MEC.
How's this for a MEC tactic? It would take a lot of teamwork, but here it is:
Get six squads full up. Put all six squad leaders in the transport chopper. The people in those six squads do not spawn. The rest of the team suppresses the SEALs AA and chopper (or at least distracts them) and basically, the transport chopper has to get above the Essex's deck. All squad leaders jump out, parachute, land on deck. Before they can get shot, all those people in their squads then spawn on their squad leader.
BLAM. 36 MEC soldiers on the deck of the essex. They'll get a flag.

Excellent Idea although no public server would ever be that organized, only a clan with 36 members could run that effectively on that scale (and really, what clan has 36 members on at one time in one server anyways). However its a good tactic and would work with a few squads if the squad members actually listened to their leader....

Either that or the Apache pilot and gunner are going to have the game of their lives!!
I would agree it should be very hard for the MEC but they do seem to win often enough. I think the US team has a hard time switching from defending the ship to recapping flags. Once the MEC team has a flag on the carrier, The majority will spawn there and attack the other flags, whereas the US team gets caught up between trying to retake the flag (which is almost impossible because most of the MEC team is now spawnig there) and deciding which flags to defend... THere are so many paths on the ship that you can often move around capping and recapping flags without running into that many people...
If you US team can keep it together and keep the MEC out of the boat then they are in a solid position but once a flag or two is lost it can go either way...
Yeah, only ways in are to get on the deck or to get in the back... And without a chopper there is no way to get on the deck (I mean from the outside the ship)...
The chopper is the most effective way, as the US team can make the rear enterance a living hell with a support, a medic and a couple of AT guys...
OMG! I wonder if......nah.......ya think?
I mean...ya think it be possible to throw a grappling hoook from the outside say the side of the ship from say a boat?
Is that possible? :|:

I can say absolutely no... The reason is a few posts up, there are no grapples or ziplines on this map...
