imo:

- A BF2 exp. pack isn't a new game, atleast not SF, and should be played together with the vanilla version.

- If playing Karkand, for example, and you get flashed in the meatgrinder then you're basically asking for it since your strategy aint exactly 'tip top'.

- If getting killed as a result of being flashed - join a squad and try not to expect to be in some 'god-mode' as you are when you play SP in other games:laugh: .

A tip for people that are flashed: Try to remember where you are i.e. if in a corridor -turn around and run and your chance of survival thus significantly increases rather than standing there waiting for the effects to wear off.

edit: wining about a 30USD exp pack might be a strong indication that PC games isn't exactly 'your thing'

No, you're spewing nonsense. Expansions should not be played with the vanilla versions. Imagine playing C&C Generals and people who bought the Zero:Hour expansion get to play the superweapons generals online against the regular army players with the vanilla version. Good game. EA didn't do that with the C&C expansion, why did they do it with this one? You connect to completely different games if you play the expansion on C&C Generals.

That's silly. I know you are just stating your opinion, but come on, you aren't thinking about this in the right context.

Yes, SF servers should still have access to all the original content: maps, weapons, etc. It's an expansion pack and should therefore expand upon the original game. Vanilla BF2 servers should not, however, have any new content. You can in no way deny that it gives SF players an advantage--even if only for just the flashbang--and as such, it is just a dirty marketing trick by EA to force everyone to buy the expansion pack. (Expansion packs should be optional, not mandatory!)

Yeah, that all sounds good in print, but in practice, you know not what you speak of. I only play in squads, and guess what the result is? We ALL get flashed and then 'naded while capturing (or even defending) a flag.

Your tip about scattering once hit is good, I'll grant you that, but the point is that non-SF players do not have the same offensive tactics available to them as SF players. It's not balanced.

Again, not true. I don't know about the guy you were originally replying to, but I'm an avid gamer, but I haven't purchased the expansion pack simply because I refuse to give EA/DICE anymore of my money for buggy, CTD-prone games until they get the first one fixed. (...which will be never, I know, but still, that's my feeling on the subject.)

Did I mention a flag at all? No, I mentioned the meat grinder which is usually the ground for nades, FBs, 203/gp-30 etc... Interesting how less than half of your post is actually contributing to the thread:laugh: , I guess we all cant behave all the time . Haha, yeah. I post my opinions for everyone to read and then people start to assume that I stand for some other daft opinions regarding completely different situations . I respect that other people all think differently, most of us do, and I laugh at people that assume B when reading A and find it generally retarded to do so:laugh:.

I think it's a good idea. From a marketing point of view of course.

Why isn't everyone whinging about Valve or ID making games that are only Windows compatible. It gives those who run windows an unfair advantage over those who like to save money and contribute to community programs using open source software. The advantage being they dont have to **** fart around just to play the game in the first place, emulating windows mind you.

It's the same thing really. It's about maximising your position in the market, and as far as I'm concerned, it's only a few bucks, the only reason you'd be whinging about not wanting to buy the expansion is if you're a crack addict on welfare payments. What else can you get with those few bucks? It's not like it's $100, and it's not like you get nothing at all. It's good fun having those few extras.

Yeah i have to agree with that, its not exactly a lot of money is it? And computer games are cheap when you think about how much entertainment you get out of them.

How many DVDs could you buy for £20? 2 thats how many which means what 4 hours entertainment when you watch them? People clock up hundreds of hours on BF2 and SF all for very little money really.

The solution is simple if you don't like SF having a advantage then buy it and dont be such a tight arse.
