    Re: Found a website about BF2 lag

    if you rename the bf2.exe file you will have to manually edit your xfire_games.config file

    [4578]
    LongName=Battlefield 2
    ShortName=bf2
    Icon=bf2.ico
    LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electro nic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\InstallDir
    LauncherExe=BF2.exe

        Re: Found a website about BF2 lag

        Renaming the exe didn't change anything at all .. other than being a total pain in the ass changing all of my shortcuts, nostromo and MX1000 profiles, and ASE settings

        The REASON we're all clambering for performance tweaks these days is SF and the dreaded v1.12 patch

          I changed my Exe too. I didn't notice a difference. And then I tried the pb check thing and in the white box it said it was an unkown command. I even printed it out so im not typing the wrong thing. Ps. This was in 1.0.3.

            I just want to add that those tips are very dangerous and not all all smart.

            - Setting is to High priority is a terrible idea if you are running XFire, TeamSpeak or Ventrillo inthe background, the chance of a system freezing up is very high.

            - Renaming the BF2.exe is a sick idea, if you want to patch or uninstall it will cause serious problems and I doubt it won't without just that. It's not changed in the registry, so this tip is absolutely rediculous.

            - AGP Aperture Size gives issues when at 256 MB, though you can consider trying it.

            - That PB tip is indeed a good idea, though very common.

                    Don't do the /high bat file one, it wrecked my performance, even on single player.

                    I just removed the /high part from the batch files, I cbf doing it all over again.

                      **UPDATE FROM THE AUTHOR**

                      instead of making it a high priority one, try changing it to /low

                      for some this causes better performance, please try this instead

                      ALSO

                      my mistake, itis pb_sleep 500 not pb_sleep500

                      thanks,

                      ben,

                        Re: Found a website about BF2 lag

                        How 'bout not fuk with the base priority at all. Basically when process priority is lowered it means other processes get more cpu time instead of the low-priority process when cpu usage starts to be 100%.
                        It could work differently on winders but until i see the reasoning behind running it /low i wouldn't use it.

                            Tried the high priority thing, BF2 loaded approx. 4 times faster, no difference to map loading, hard to tell if it affected game performance.

                            The PB tweak seemed to reduce stuttering in-game...

                            Nice tips, cheers :)

                              had a look at the site with renaming the bat file, im a bit worried bout changing the exe file because wot about xfire and incase ea bring out anuvver patch, i think that would cause more headache than wot its worth, did the pb thing and the aperture size, didnt c much change tho???? has every1 disabled the intro fmv at the start?????saves ram???????let me know if you need to do it i di and loading times r quicker

                                It tells you what to do with xfire and rather than renaming the exe, just create a copy and use that in the bat file. Should be no problems with patching then; obviously you'll have to create a new copy of the exe if you apply a patch...
