True! But from a realistic point of view, anyone constantly jumping around in real life couldn't keep it up. What with all the armour and weapons you are carrying...unless you where super, SUPER!! fit.
If you constantly keep jumping around, you would obviously tire and your jumping would become harder and less effective. So I think the game should be adjusted so that the lower your energy bar is, the less jumping you are able to make.

Point is, even I dolphin dive and bunny hop and I could care less what my opponents think about me doing it, because I didn't buy BF2 to satisfy other players by not doing something they may consider annoying and thats the same mentality you'll get on BF2 servers.

I must be in the minority then. I won't resort to bunnyhopping to get an "edge" over another player. Points aren't the most important part of the game IMO. I think playing for fun is the point obviously, but not at the expense of others by using a technique that is frowned upon by the vast majority of players.
I guess I don't have the mentality of win at all costs...

Amen to that.. I too could simply program my Nostromo SpeedPad to have my prone button make me jump, duck, and generally freak out at the touch of a button.. But I won't..

Granted, I do have hopes that Dice will simply exponentially increase an individual's bullet spread when jumping. It's a simple patch and would make all those people that rely on the BH/DD relearn the basics and make the game more about team tactics, rather than macro programming skills.. (Or more likely, these types of people will try and find another odd mechanic to abuse, but I'm willing to take that chance )

Call it what you will, I call Bunny Hopping/Dolphin Diving generally bad for the long-term quality of gameplay..

I dont mind the act of jumping. Makes you harder to hit. Fine. I can live with that. What cheeses me off is that it doesnt affect your accuracy. Hitting the jump or prone button should make your weapon get set to its max deviation. This would remove the advantage of bunny hopping, etc be more realistic, and eventually it would disappear.

boohoo will the crying never end?

Do you play to win? Do you play to have fun?

I play to win. In order to do that, you have to bunny hop and dolphin dive to compete with the other players that are doing it. It gives you an advantage by making you harder to hit. If they are smart, they do the same thing. In the end it all boils down to who can aim better. Unless of course the other person doesn't do these things, then they are easy prey.

I play to have fun, but for me if I'm getting owned and losing then I'm not having fun, so see above.

I think the majority of people who cry about it are the ones that get killed a lot and are unable to do all the moves while still shooting accurately at the enemy. Too bad for them if they can't compete.

I also hate bunny hoppers. But not because I can't kill them. I'm used to them from my 2 years of kicking ass on MOHAA servers and back then I had to deal with the bunny hoppers and the lean left and right guys. they'd be running at you shooting while pressing the lean left, then lean right constantly. I mastered killing them. Bunny hoppers are easier to kill compared to thse guys.

I would say I kill the bunny hopper before he kills me most times.

I do admit if I'm out of ammo though and I see a spot i can get to for cover that sometimes I bunny hop to the spot to keep from getting shot.

Yeah? And whats your BF2 name so we can see your K/D ratio as infantry?

Tell me you have a video. The image of a soldier running at you and twisting his body left and right made me smile immediately. Is it as funny as it sounds?

Re: Bunny hopping and prone jumping?

While it does look silly and I would support nerfing jumping in such away as to prevent continual bouncing without limiting access to the map (i.e jumping on/over walls), I would point out that there is no way to dive out of the way, fling yourself to the side or perform a diving roll or any other realistic manouver that may be attempted in a moment of panic when running head long into the enemy...

We can't lean, we can't roll, we can only crawl at a rediculously slow rate and we can climb on thing (mantle is the term often used in games). All we have is moving forwards, backwards, left and right, turning around, crouching, laying down and jumping. That is it the full range of possible motion. So in a paniced moment what can you do but jump...

Of course as I stated above the continual bouncing (it's not true bunny hopping) is annoying and would be easily remedied bay any of the above methods.

This is one of the worst things in the game along with the red name bug, C4 glitch, swear filters and arty whores.

everyone here says they dont like bhopping but i am sure you all do it

Its in almost all games.. its always going to be there

                          Its part of the game

Let EA?dice fix more important bugs then working on bhopping

                          like how bad SF runs

Well, imo, bunny hoppers are the scum of online gaming, even worse than base campers!
I recently tried Americas Army again, and they have invaded that too

I agree that players should be allowed to avoid fire as best they can, but jumping up and down like you’re on springs? No way.
If I get into a ‘situation’ in-game, I will lay, kneel and sidestep like a loon – all to avoid getting killed; these are tactics that I feel are ok, as they are all things you would probably do if this were real.

Basically, those willing to hop around to avoid getting killed are cheaters – they are exploiting an aspect of the game that the decent and skilled players all agree needs to be patched.

I admin a ranked server, where the only real rule is “No Bunny Hopping” – the amount of people who still join and do it is amazing.
Thankfully, I actively administer the server whilst playing and anyone caught doing it will be warned then kicked, in some cases (after a global chat warning to all) they will be banned without warning.

Until Dice/EA provide a real fix to bunny hoppers, I guess it is down to those of us running servers to stop these people from making the game a ‘frag fest’, rather than the team based play it should be.

Well that’s my “two pence”, I’m sure we all feel the same about ‘them’, but they are likely to post in defense now – get ready for some laughs I’m sure

Sorry to hear you can't take good evasive actions while still accurately aiming, Scort. It's unfortunate that you have to resort to kicking/banning those better than you. Hopefully you'll improve with practice.

                              Best of luck, Bugs.
