yes. i did the same and it made a noticable difference. unless it's a server problem i don't lag!

I got a SF and 2 Gigs of ram on the same day....it didn't make that much of a difference on the original (except I can use High Textures now). Other than that, I can alt tab no problem whoooo!

But now I can't use my 4:5 dividers on my RAM and its underclocking rather than overclocking . (I had Samsung TCCD's before and now I have this OCZ ****.)

I’ve just ordered an extra 1GB (2 x 512 matched) and I can’t wait to see how my system runs with it in, after what everyone has said. :)

I noticed SF really lagged on my machine so I decided to upgrade from 1GB dual channel to 2GB.

I see a great improvement. Especially when the map first loads. Before my frame rates would really lag for the first 20 seconds and sometimes when the action got intense it would again. Hard drive would have to kick in.

Now things run much better. Only about 2 sec lag at start while things load in and much better throughout the match.

Loading time is about the same but verification time is a lot better.

Just thought I would post incase anyone else was thinking about an upgrade.

<- was running 1GB (2x512) OCZ 2-2-2-5 DDR400 plus an eVGA 6800GT when BF2 first came out. That was a lag fest.

So I upgraded to 2GB PQI (cheap stuff but it works) DDR400 Dual Channel and bought a BFG 7800GT.

I can run all settings on high with 8xAA 8xAF HQ @ 1280x1024 75hz without any problems. Thats BF2, SF, heh, don't get me started.

Its pretty sad to see when the textures get done loading, BF2 uses 70% of my system memory. *gaulk*

Anybody running a AMD 64 3400+, 9800 pro and 2 gig of ram? If so how is that. I currently have that setup and 1 gig of ram and it sucks. I love how I run up on an enemey get out a burst of bullets only to lag for two seconds and then have me looking up at the sky. If the 2 gig of ram works I will buy ram today!!!

I had a ATI 9800 Pro. I bought a Nvidia 7800 GTX and got huge imprvoment! I recommend!

I have only 1 gig of ram...but my ISP speed up to 2mbit...With the 1gig and the 2mbit LAN i don't have any lag anymore. So for me, no need to update the ram to 2gig

All you with 1.4683578 GB etc.. of RAM need to go all the way to 2GB. Sh*t or get off the pot so to speak. :)

I'm running a gig but I don't get lag in vanilla but of course I do on SF LOL

2.4 @ 3.0GHz
4 x 256 Kingston HyperX PC3200 @ 420MHz
BFG 6800GT OC @ 402/1.10

I overclock everything possible to try and save money. I wish I could grab 2 Gigs of PC4000 or higher so I could OC to 3.2GHz.

All in due time. Until then, lowering the eye candy *sniff* *sniff*

I never had a problem with loading and veryfying client data until I changed harddrives.......both same speed, different brand, before change it took less than a minuto to laod and veryfy, now it takes about a minute to load and 3 more to very .....>WTF?????? veryfying doesnt have to do with ram...it has to dow ith hdd I think....
