artillery is pants. EA MUST either take it out, or give us server options to take it or leave it in.

I only wish that they wouldnt give you a death on your K ratio for arty. There is nothing you can do about it, but it screws up my stats. :\

I think of target designation for air strikes, Artillery strikes, sitting in a hole on the ground reporting traffic paterns, etc (And this comes from personal experience too). I also think about teaching 3rd world nations how to build their own military/militia. How to shoot primitive weapons, How to improve their standards of living, how to prevent disease by brushing their teeth and not eating where they poop, how to dig wells for water etc. Since that is what SF units have been doing for a long time.

          But it is a game.
I could really go either way on the arty in SF. It doesnt distract or add anything for me either way (Other than the lovely view of the sky and my body flipping over and over through it :))

I think FH and some other mods like mine are going to add different features to the artillary making it less powerful but only used for presion blows and give the commander more realistic assests.

I agree. I would say limit the arty strikes to at most 2 per round on small maps.

Took the **** earlier. Me and my friend kept constantly getting artied it was god damn annoying. Every damn minute.

I like arty in BF2:van but in SF it is just annoying.

Infantry are too vulnerable for and it is too easy for a commander to click and kill an entire squad.

They SHOULD have put in a new ability, like dropping smoke to help conceal you teammates while taking a flag, or flares to light up the enemy position, and left arty out.

They didn't think it through at all

This is one of the only criticisms I have of the game.

Re: Does Artillery Belong in SF ?

Special Forces is just the name of the Expansion Pack. Its moniker, so to speak. If you haven't noticed already, all seven of the original soldier classes are represented here. And - this is just a game. It is obviously more for marketing purposes than anything else. They needed a wrapper for 8 more maps for which they convinced you to give them 30 more of your dollars. Get it now?

Besides, wtf do you think "Special Forces" do, amongst other things? Do the words Forward Artillery Observer mean anything to you? What - are the ideas of warfare behind this too much for you? Come play with me, I'll teach you some things.

Well, they do call in airstrikes as well, but EA took out jets. Although, you obviously consider BF2 a modern warfare simulator.

I know. that's why i said, "amongst other things." The other things was like what you said, but i didn't want to cuz I was just trying to make a point.

and BF2 is a modern warfare simulator game, not a warfare simulator, per se. It would need to make some changes that would make it less fun to be a true simulator.
