Re: Looks like EA/Dice have abandoned Battlefield 2

Even if they do jack about game balance they should atleast fix the biggest problems. I can't even use half the filters in the gamebrowser anymore. How come they can't fix a simple thing like a game browser? One of the first problems I experienced with the SF expansion was a CTD. And the damn shader optimization message keeps popping up long after the initial optimization is done.

Running the game with 1GB ram is really testing my patience too. Loading and switching game modes take forever. The controls panel is still fubar and insists that keys are in use when they are not. I had to edit the control file to free the keys. Patching should be fixed so that the patching program let you choose where to unpack the files. Or atleast it should look for a drive with enough space.

Not readin everything posted, no reason to, but....EA is a business, business' move forward because thye have to make new products to make money, no new product, no money. I sell R/C helicopters (well, manage inventory at our heli shop) and you think you get mad because you don't get free patch for a $50 game? Imagine people that can't get a fuel level arm or tail boom support for a $1000 helicopter. Products are supported more when they are new, and it tapers off, that's why we don't all play pong online.

I just read that link and you know what? It's all bull. Not the fact they are making the patch but the were working 100% and the we want battlefield 2 to be all it can bs.

If they wanted this game to be all it could be then why the one or was it two month wait for a patch that did not slove a single problem. Why are you all so blind to it?

They said before they are fixing the wrong ping readings for servers and guess what still the wrong numbers for pings and this is patch number what? Four?

My guess is that EA/DICE will make better patches as time goes on. I expect the next patch to be of a better quality, unless they start releasing a patch before every mod/expansion pack to "prepare us" for that xpack. If they keep doing so in every patch I will be seriously pi$$ed off. Maybe after three xpacks the game will get so redicilously large on our hard drives and those who buy the xpacks will will end up having an arsenal of weapons for each kit. Anyway, did you notice right after the release of SF that everyone was running around with an F2000? but now everything seems to be back to normal, probably because many people got sick of carrying the same gun all the time.

The only difference I've noticed is that they fly faster. The tracking system is no different at all. Not much of an attempt, if you ask me.

On a side note, the bots in single-player are devastating with AA missiles, making it seem like latency problems are why AA missiles suck so bad. Just a theory, though.

                      I strongly suspect you're right.
That's why I'm a big advocate of using proximaty detonated warheads to offset the problem. Gives some room for error.

They havent abondoned BF2 nor will they... They havent even abondoned BF42 or BFV (since they just realesed patches for those games yesterday)...

Correct me if I am wrong but it seems that the people making these statements are rather young...
