Re: Is the SF pack worth getting?

1st off, YES, it is worth the money if you like the game.

"It just seems to me that many games do this for free. Off the top of my head Total Annihilation (I know a long time ago), Enemy Territory (was free lol), and a bunch of others in other genres."

How can you even compare ET and BF2??? Bf2 is lightyears ahead of ET engine wise. The complexity of BF2 means inevitable problems and hiccups but any game you can name has had updates and such to fix problems. It's no different then any other fps I've played in that respect, and if you've ever played mods then you are used to updates etc. The more complex the game the more problems, but when everything is runnung smooth the game is superior to most games on the market in almost every sense. BF2 also has a huge amount of players battling at all times of the day. Keeps me satisfied. SF is just more of a good thing. Why bash it? When your playing it you will see that the "few" new items and weapons add many more options even though you might feel like EA is not giving you enough for your money. Try using these items before you dismiss SF. No plane whoring, YAY!!! I find the 8 new maps, new weapons and vehicles, nv and gas mask add alot and drastically change gameplay to merit 29 measley dollars I'll blow at the pub otherwise. GL, hope you get it, updates will come and you can still have fun in the meantime.

And yes, I've been having a great time with SF.

Re: Is the SF pack worth getting?

i hate that only certain sides get new weapons.

gas mask and tear gas adds nothing to the game. very rarely has anyone used tear gas against me.

nv only adds to the game because there are night levels. its very easy to camp on the night levels if you can find a good spot.

zipline kinda sucks. i find more places where i want to climb up than zip across. should have just given everyone a hook.
heh, one game i was sniping and i was in the dark shadows on a night map. a squad of 4 guys zips down to this low roof across the road from me. i was on the ground in the grass. i killed 3 of them and they didn't even see me. was cool seeing them all zip down though.

i definitely like the grappling hook though.

Re: Is the SF pack worth getting?

?? no difference? bf2 has the most bugs in any fps i ever had

          FEAR runs better then SF

(Buy the way i didnt even notice i could pick those hooks back up but even with that game still has a lot of issues more then when bf2 came out)

Its still fun but I would wait for fixes.. The bugs are just killing the fun

Read any review and they talk about it

If you dont have any issues then enjoy the game..

EA/Dice rushed it for the holidays.. There is already a large pacth to download 280mb

Which tells you what you are in for

The performacne issues are the worst in SF even with my X1800XT

I have settings at 1024 res and even at that game drops to 20fps or 15fps even if there is nothing around

While BF2 runs great at any res with any setting and always a mini of 40 and up

Re: Is the SF pack worth getting?

i recommend it. for £15 quid. had a good days play of it. the only thing i dont like the carrier only map. theres lots of interesting things to keep you interested and some of the maps are really good fun. we were playing Warlord and there are two flags on that site. one side had one flag and the other captured the other flag. we were fighting accross this very tight space, great fun.

the night levels take a bit of getting used to, sometimes you do good, sometims you do bad but it does add a very interesting dimension.

Re: Is the SF pack worth getting?

Yeah you know, I looked at this for so long now.

I have a computer that has a 5200 graphics card and I still have no idea how it runs BF2 so I am skiddish about buying and installing SF. Plus I need the $30 dollars to get it.

I still dont like some of the characters models. I dislike the look of all the SAS players and teh U.S medic/spec ops look like BMX players so that is a downer. But they really hit it off on the Insergent/Spetz/Mecs on this one.

I would definatly like to see more weapons outside the U.S or SAS spectrum. And vehicles different for each team.

I dont like the new patch how it makes all the unlock images for normal BF2 players look like the SF models then we get our normal ones. And playing with poeple that are SF players is annoying because we cant use these fun Flashbang Nades and all but Theres not much difference in that field. Good thing EA but there thinking caps on and made sure they couldnt use there Grappling hooks and Ziplines. I'm not sure bought u guyz but that would've made me ****ed, so good call on there part :)

Quick question - I just started playing this game. . .If I buy SF - will I be able to unlock the Tier2 Medic weapon after unlocking the Tier1 - so get the Tier2 at Corporal?

There is nothing great about it... I would love this game more if it wasn’t for the bugs

FPS issues/drops/shuttering have to be fixed

And I find it weird that only the USA gets then new guns and the other teams do not

Unless this is some kind of bug

And the new grappling hook only can be used once... and to get it back you would have to sit by a supply crate for 14 secs

It becomes more useless then anything
you sure your playing the same xpack everyone else is playing?

Sounds like to me, that the ones that 'hate' it. Are the ones with the low end computer specs. It might just be me, but most people that complain of a drop in fps need to upgrade their pc or smoething. I have not had any trouble with this game.

Back on subject. VERY WELL WORTH THE $30. It keeps you very busy for hours on end. The action is very upclose with urban warfare. The day maps for example 'Ghost Town' is my new favorite map. It kicks Karkand's ass! The night maps are cool at first, but they do tend to get on your nerves a bit. However, it was every bit worth $30.

ok guys, I am pretty much convinced, going to go buy it today, already d/l the patch. The £5 extra for buying it today in a store is not really an issue. I'm just a bit narked it costs anything at all.

The night missions do sound cool, and I have nada to do tonight.

But I will say that EA are really a bunch of ***** for making the expansion cost so much. I hate to pay this much for something that I really feel should be free, but I will hold judgement till I play it tonight.

                            Thanks for the comments.
