Is the SF pack worth getting?

I am just a bit confused, as it seems to me that all EA have done is:

Added some new soldier models
Added nightvision and a few other equipment things like grappling hooks
Added a few new vehicles (I mean come on, how much difference does that actually make?)
Added a few new maps

?

It just seems to me that many games do this for free. Off the top of my head Total Annihilation (I know a long time ago), Enemy Territory (was free lol), and a bunch of others in other genres.

I mean how much of a big deal is having different soldier and weapons models?

Most FPS MP games usually get a bunch of maps added on for free, all we got with BF2 was Wake Island ffs.

I am not flaming, just honestly amazed that EA think this is worth £20 or whatever, especially given the existing bugs and crap browser.

I love BF2, but I just got SF and it's not half as fun. I thought it'd be worth it just for the new maps, but the night missions suck. The day missions and new guns are nice, but I don't think it was worth the money.

While its not perfect, it adds new dimensions of gameplay and its incredibly fun when you have a good squad going. Worth it in my opinion.

ok, thx all for the replies

not convinced, for me an FPS really has to work before I'll really invest in it (in terms of time rather than money)

ET, damn, I must have played that every evening for a couple of years solid, me and a few mates from another forum even started our own server which was quite popular (X2 The Server Returns if youre interested)

But although I have had great times in BF2, especially when I meet someone like minded on VOIP (made an X-fire friend this way), when the game kicks arse, these times are too rare

I compare to ET where most players are 'adults'. up for a laugh but also serious, if you know what I mean

Dont get me wrong, BF2 has this too, but not as often (kiddies/tkers) and then there are the game problems (which ET does not have ffs???), esp the browser but also things like uneccesary lag etc

I will hangfire for a while I think, but hope you all have fun, maybe see you out there on the killing fields :)

There is nothing great about it... I would love this game more if it wasn’t for the bugs


FPS issues/drops/shuttering have to be fixed

And I find it weird that only the USA gets then new guns and the other teams do not

Unless this is some kind of bug

And the new grappling hook only can be used once... and to get it back you would have to sit by a supply crate for 14 secs


It becomes more useless then anything

LOL you can get it back with the "g" butten on your keyboard (you know that butten you also use when you get someone elses kit.

come on its just £15 its not exacally a big whole in your savings.

And for the money i think your get everything you need, new gadgets, maps, weapons, charactersetc...

and about the Hook and Zipline you can get it back, you can just press G :P

As for the USA getting all the new guns, i dont think thats true, as the SAS gets a whole new set of guns...

I would say yeah. The night missions take some gettng use to but when you do they are great. There are a lot of buildings to run in and out of. It does suck that only one side gets the unlocks.

as for is it worth it? i don't think its worth $30. maybe half that or less. i wish i didn't buy it.
