I bought it VIA the EA downloader 2 nights ago.

Took a while to install, but saved a trip and guarenteed I'd get one.

      Worth it? Yep.

Just some clarificatio nfor someone who hasn't posted here since BF2 came out:

Was the pre-downloading JUST for pre-release, or can I buy it and download it right now? I am at EA's downloading thing, but I dunno if it's for downloading or are they just gonna ship it since the game is already out, since everything I see mentioning downloading it was "pre release".

So, my Q is, can I buy it and download it and play it now via EA's downloader?

Re: Who here bought the game from the EA Downloader?

You can purchase/download the Special Forces expansion
NOW or anytime via EA Downloader.

I took 2-3 hours to download, 30 minutes to unpack and install,
and another hour to to download/install the 1.12 patch you will need to
play online afterwards. For the time being [Thanksgiving/ crowd tomorrow
for sales] it is worth it. Any other day, if there is a store nearby it is
worth it to go buy at retail.

Also recommend defrag and restart after installing to clean up
all that mess. Map load times will benefit.

Re: Who here bought the game from the EA Downloader?

I'm pretty upset. Has anyone had success purchasing yesterday or today?

              The following error has occurred:
              Web Page Error
              Explanation:
The web page couldn't be shown because of an internal error.

              How to Fix the Problem:
Unfortunately, since you have encountered this error because of some server problem on our end, there's really nothing you can do at this time to correct the problem. Your best bet is to try again later.

              I hate EA.

                  it saves it to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\YOUR USERNAME

It costs about £20 to download the game, so I get a file on my HD. It cost me £15 to get the DVD delivered to my door on the day it is released in the UK. Hmmm, nice job EA!

Cos i dont see any image file in there (well nero didnt anyway).
Its not an iso its the contents of the actually bf2:sf cd if you were to buy it.

I reformated so this is how I did it.

start, run, regedit, go to hkey_current_user/software/electronic arts

Right click on electronic arts and do export and then save it.

Then when you are going to install it on your new install of windows. Just install EA downloader and login. Then close EA downloader. Copy this folder eagamesbf2-2006online_contentbf2-ep1 which is located in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\your login name\eagamesbf2-2006online_contentbf2-ep1 to the same location on your new install and then double click the registry file you exported and thats it. Open that cache folder up and click setup and it should install fine.
