Re: The only way SF will survive

Mods don't last long because they can never get a huge fan base as opposed to an official release by a company to the public. And I would like to know why the SF haters aren't playing it besides the techinical issues. Just saying I don't play that crap or it sucks just makes you look even stupider and less intelligent. And that EA/Dice hating thing and not playing their games because of it has to be the most rediculas thing I have ever heard. If you don't like it, then STFU and don't even waste your time coming on here. WHy wouldn't you come on here to announce you aren't going to play the game because of EA to an audience who doesn't give a sh*t?

SF, IMO is what most of the maps in BF2 should of been like. Maps like Fushe are mostly for the pilots and tankers. Sure they can have some really good battles, but it gets quickly boring when you are walking more than fighting and only have to walk back again after you die. The level design is what makes SF. The maps are still large, but you don't get the vast openness of some of the regular BF2 maps and none of the really close spawn killing alleys or confinements of Karkand or Shaqi.

The urban maps are way more like real life urban maps than Karkand or Shaqi will ever be or come close too. They also encourage more teamwork since you don't have all the vehicles. And in most you don't have to worry about the noob tubers. All they have to do now is work out the technical and stability bugs in order to make it a better game.

This particular post makes me think the world of SF/BF2 will be better off with you gone, your analogy is well........psychotic.

        1. Stats are completely optional. You can have an unranked server. What you are supporting is forcing players to play a certain way. EA is just giving servers a greater degree of freedom.

        2. Stats MOTIVATE teamwork. What insentive did people have for teamwork before stats? None. Now they get heals, revives, kill assists, etc. I have yet to hear one good reason why stats would do the opposite.

        3. Teamkilling has gone down amazingly (except teamkilling for vehicles, which may be about the same) since 1942.

        4. Win/loss ratio is part of your stats.

Personally, I don't really care about any of the stats except for KDR. However, my TOC brothers like to get all of their badges/ribbons/medals, and that is okay with me. We still have the same amount of teamwork as usual. Stats help motivate players to try all of the weapons, form teams, and help one another. They also cause some players to teamkill, stat-pad constantly, etc. With or without stats the outcome of tards will be the same. If you are looking for teamwork in almost any game such as BF2 I suggest finding a community to take part in. That is the only way you will find true teamwork. I agree with both sides of the issue here, because they are both correct. Hopefully, one good thing that may come out of this debate is the idea that it's just a game, and there still are teamplayers out there. If anyone is looking for mature people who enjoy teamwork, then visit my friends and I at www.clantoc.net. Even if you are in a clan or team we would still enjoy having you on TeamSpeak for some good ole' fashioned teamwork.

Re: The only way SF will survive

Maybe all they need to do is change the weighting of scoring; make certain teamwork focussed actions worth more points, and reduce the value of a kill?

Maybe a kill defending a flag should be worth 2 or 3, whilst a normal kill worth only 1? Or have a multiplier that increases depending on the amount of time spent within a certain radius of a point, therefore making defence a viable option for getting a good score?

Or a kill with small arms > explosives? I.e. make a bomb kill worth .5

Capping a point should be worth more. Resupplying or healing someone who requests it should be worth more.

In Red Orchestra, people will work together simply because it's the ONLY way you can win. In BF, working together increases your chances, but it's still possible to win without good teamwork, simply because the other team is just as disorganised.

Maybe a 20 point bonus for winning?

If people won't play using teamwork voluntarily, force them to.

They already do that. You get an extra point for killing someone who's in the flag radius.

Capping a point should be worth more. Resupplying or healing someone who requests it should be worth more.
Then someone could flag hop and get LOADS of points.

Or a kill with small arms > explosives? I.e. make a bomb kill worth .5
              Why?

Who get's the largest scores, typically? The plane whores.

Making explosive kills less valuable might coerce them to work harder on actually focussing on the job at hand. Maybe make an Air to Air kill worth four, or a tank kill worth 2.

Regarding point hopping, it's gonna be a lot harder if people start digging in.

And the one point bonus for a defensive kill only refers to the flag radius, and doesn't really compensate for the points you're not getting from attacking.

Mods like Forgotten Hope and Desert Combat? BF42 was almost nothing but a base for mods. I don't think I played vanilla BF42 at all after discovering BattleGroup42 and DC. I expect the same will happen when FH and BG release for BF2 (though I may continue to play on my favorite server some even if they don't run the mods).

I play bf2 because it is fun... not so I can 'be the best' statwise.
What other people do (stat padding) has no effect on me... unless they start cheating and gain an unfair advantage with wallhacks, aimbots, etc.

                      2. your team wins.
You had some good points in you're original post but this isn't one of them. What happens when someone is having a bad game? This might decide to go out of thier way to make sure their team loses. They could TK at essential times (so as not to get banned) and generally be a complete waste of space (maybe fly the attack helo to a nice quite corner of the map) since the stats aren't going to count. I think this would cause much more problems than the current system of stats that we hav now.

Re: The only way SF will survive

                        SF is total junk.

The night maps are horrible to play, boring..most of the time
people run into each others noses, and in my case the other guy
with his noob tube usually wins..

The day maps are horribly laid out..the new items, zip line and hook
are lousy additions in an attempt to make the game cool but are
really useless..except for perhaps for snipers to get to high rooftops..
but HEY, ARTY blows snipers away in half a second, so there goes that
                        idea..

EA and DICE couldnt come up with a good game if their lives depended on
it.. They started off with a good game, and sillied it up with gay @ss things
like arty and magical mystical UAVS and RADARS.. blah how corny..

and heres another thing that really really sucks about BF2..

WHY DO I HAVE TO LOAD THE NEXT MAP BEFORE I EVEN KNOW WHAT IT
IS ??????????????????? How dumb is that.

Heres hoping EA and DICE get new programmers for Christmas.

Lol speaking of base-raping, I love leading a squad on Gulf of Oman, driving on the edge of the map to their carrier, and sit where there boats spawn in an APC and spawn camp, while some people I carried over in APC Mine/C4 the deck. We dont make it over their often though, so its good when we get a good attack helicopter to distract for us.

It's too much of a Hassle Playing Sf. Theres not many servers, in the dark is too easy to kill and the game generally lags on my PC. (Loading times). Choppers own on some maps.

I'm sticking to Kharkand and wake.

Generally, theres some new toys, eg. Elavator, Zip Line, Forklift ect.. But its just a few new maps and skins. There's nothing really in SF that makes me want to playing more than I do the original Bf. I genereally have more loading errors with Sf, its slow and boring and whenver I check the lowest ping SF server, theres no-one in there.

I'm just not intrested in Sf, and when I do play it, it's usually Single Player.

bleh, i don't play SF, i was starting to obsess about purchasing a new computer just to play...thank God the server I'm always in (SFR) is back to vanilla BF2...

Mods worked for BF1942 because there was no ranking system. Unless mod's start getting ranked you probably won't see many people there...what would be perfect is if EA/DICE could approve some of the mod's out there and turn them into official releases...
