When I'm pubbing, I'll usually give the squad a few "hello's", if no one really replies or doesn't communicate, I just leave the squad and move on.


I never pay attention to the typed messages though. Although once in a while I will spam "Sorry dude" or somethign like that for an accidential TK.

It's just that you'll find the talk is more buisness than fun.. I only play ranked servers right now coz i wanna get my war college ribbon but hey, once i got that im goin to play some custom maps coz right now, im bored to tears with kubra dam and daqing..

If you play ranked servers you can expect to be playing with the buisness people. These guys are serious about what they're getting out of the game (to an extent, i am) so how can you expect them to respond?

One stunt I'll use to get more VoiP chatter going is to simply say "Mic check! Anyone reading me?". This almost always results in someone answering. I answer back and start with my normal tactical communication. Other people in the squad seem to get the idea and join in fairly quickly.

can't find a good one because I got yelled at on my normal server I was complaining because people get punishing for running over mines, claymores, etc after I told them I planted them and they watched me. Stopped, then proceeded.

I'm scared to go back and get yelled at by admin for making a scene XD

Yup. You should get a green speaker icon if you are broadcasting on normal coms. If it goes read, you need to turn the sensitivy down (or move it away from your mouth). The command com is the same, but with a star on it.

BTW, you will get that icon even if the server is misconfigured. You still broadcast, but it gets trasmited into the void.

I just haven't learned the fine art of chatting while aiming for the head, running for cover, capping flags, or doing it all at once.

Too much to do. Whenever I accidentally press the type key, I have to hurry up and press esc so that I have control again.

I use to play Motor City Online and I could never get my mic set up where people could hear me properly. So I'd rather just get my FIGHT ON!

If you mean voice, well there's only a max 6 ppl in squad and not everyone has mics / wants to use one.

In CS:S, everybody on the team can hear and talk.

For typing, well, I see people talking with each other. It usually consists of:

"Omg [weapon] whore. Get some skill."
"I bet you're [age 7-13] years old kid."

Entire game yesterday was two people arguing. The internet is funny.

why chat and mess up your points per minute? As someone mentioned before.. there's so much action going on in bf2 it's hard to chat..especially only with 15 second respawn times. Also, people seem to be shy to talk over voice or expect that no one else has mics.

I also think you will find most people use TS (TeamSpeak) or Ventrilo to speak to other players, I myself use TS when my clan is playing, I tryed viop and all I heard was people being abusive only afew times where there actual game chat going on.
