BF2 players more stuck up?

Okay, forgive me before reading this because I haven't played BF2 for a long time. But has anyone else noticed how almost nobody will talk to you in the game? I come from CS:S, Ghost Recon, RavenShield, and other FPS and MMORPG's where people talk if you say Hi or ask a question. Is it just the servers I'm visiting, or what? Because so far out of all the time I've played I haven't found more than 3 people that will talk at all.

Thoughts / opinions / comments? And please don't flame me, its just my opinion and question.

I noticed that as well.

The only people who talk are the ones bitching others out.

Bf1942 had lots of chatter going on, and vietnam had a little but it was going down.

I think it might be attributed to the more complex gameplay (more vehicles, weapons, etc) making it harder to break concentration and find time to type a lot.

I agree, but I don't think it is because BF2 players are more stuck up. It's probably because they're busy focusing on the game. And you will always get this kind of response when you attempt to make small talk on ranked servers. It seems that increasing stats has become more important than community spirit.

But I've actually had some decent conversations with people on unranked servers. People who are just playing the game to have fun.

DUH, offcourse you have more talking in CS (S) , when you get killed there you have to wait untill the round ends to spawn back and this can take 2 -3 min , in BF 2 or other BF series you have 15 sec and you are back and running

Sad but true it's all about stats. I miss the chatter! Coming from AoE (Age of Empires). Good way to meet some instresting people. Someday people will wake up and not take these thing's so serious. Winning all the time is not alway's the best thing. How would you learn anything?

I donno if it's a case of being stuck up.
Most of the time, when I get someone talking back it's a person with a higher level of intellect.

Seems that it's the kiddies who don't bother talkin.
Edit: I'm refering to talking over battlecoms.

Problem is that the chat moves to fast, especially when you have some oblivious commander spotting every infantry guy in his view while the uav reloads or is elsewhere.. i so hate that.. SHUT UP ALREADY! I CANT HEAR THE MA DEUCE FIRING NEXT TO ME!

Yah, I guess its not really them being stuck up, but I do miss the chatter a lot; I use to meet interesting people in a ton of games and thats how I would find good community sites or a nice clan; but with no talk in BF2 its hard for me to find any people to play with; which in turn makes me not want to play because not having a friend to hang around with and do stupid yet entertaining things with is half the point.

Playing alone in a server without talking and just using these annoying radio commands gets boring, any suggestions on good servers that actually have nice people?

Forgive me for double posting; didn't see this one before.

I hate that aswell, I wish they made a seperate section for chat and squad / team commands. And I really really wish they made a time limit like 3 seconds or something before you can say it again so you dont get that god damn spammer saying Medic 50+ times.

The Raging Rebels have a great server. Team Wonderful is damned good too.

#1 tip: Get a mic! Use your battle coms! Both those servers I mentioned have battle coms set up correctly and you should have no trouble getting some good chatter going on.

I got a mic; just dunno how to use the built in battle comms... Is it just auto if you got a mic plugged in? I remember setting up the sensitivity when I installed.

The easiest way is to open up your controls and to bind the "Push to talk" command to something handy. At least thats what I do.

Be aware that you can only talk to members of your squad. The B key is the default.
If you are squad leader or commander, you can access the comand channel via the (default) V key.

Also, there are lots of server that list themselves as having battle coms active, but don't have them set up correctly. This leads to lots of cofusion and people thinking that their mic isn't working.
