I was refering to the fact the SF players will be able to use weapons in BF2 that vanilla BF2 players will not be able to use.. I mean they are patching BF2 with SF release for the new weapons, why not let normal BF2 players upgrade too? I mean new weapons arent going to make BF2 anything like SF so why not just let everyone upgrade in BF2?

The reason they arent letting BF2 only players get those unlocks as well is becuase those bf2 only players didnt pay £20 for the privelage of getting to use said unlocks/maps/vehicles etc.

There is nothing unfair with that... plus its a great enticement to buy the xpac.

Though it should be said that SF unlocks only get allowed in BF on non ranked servers.

The point of an expansion pack is to expand the game for people who pay for the expansion. If this gives them more functionality and choice then that is totally valid.

As far as I am concerned, I have absolutely no problem with allowing new unlocks in original BF2 and well as SF, as long as the unlocks are not significantly more powerfull then the weapons in the original game. Which, given the unlocks in the original game is very likley.

This whole thing seems like a chicken little argument, since none of us really know.

No doubt the hackers are/or will be busy trying to figure out a way to give players the BF2:SF weapons without having to own SF, on unranked private servers of course.

I just think it is funny how people who obviously really like BF2 and are so concerned about this don't just buy the expansion?

I mean if you like this game enough to post on forums and get all worked up about unlocks then I think that $30 isn't too much to ask for all new maps, weapons and functionality.

There is also a screenie of the F2000 in the unlock spot AND it gives it as an example in the readme it IS going to be an unlock. Though I dont know what this is about. If you can unlock that maybe Anti Tank can unlock the RPG.


Wait wtf... You wont be able to use these unlocks on ranked servers... what the hell is the point in that? May as well not have them at all in bf2 if you cant use them on ranked servers.

I want the grapling hook and zip-line unlocks for BF2 imagine 4 guys on ziplines flying down to the flag below after an arty strike from the dam at Kubra to take the flag.

Or using the graping hook in Karkland?

Let's just not get the rumors flying yet.

Until we all actually play the game spreading unconfirmed rumors about getting all of these toys in vanilla BF2 is just gonna get people worked up for no reason.

True, but when people buy a game and it turns out the only thing they really care about in the game is really ****. Then they tend to get ****ed off.

lol so if you dont have the expansion pack and you try to get on a zip line will it flash on your screen "you cannot use this zip line please buy special forces" same goes for trying to pick up a kit thats in SF.

I find it hard to believe that a new weapon wouldn't be an unlock because they know that would unbalance the game since everyone wants to be on that side. I believe the flashbang maybe an alternative to the smoke grenade since not many people use it in the game. That will replace that, and the assualt will get the F2000 or SCAR-H or both as their unlocks. After all, the assualt class is teh main fighting body of the game and they should have the most gear since they are the ones doing the brunt of the fighting.
