Unlock Flashbang in Battlefield 2?

Take a look at this screen - it seemingly contradicts another one in which they F2000 is displayed as the unlock for the Assault kit. The screen was posted in another forum, without any elaboration.

Currently, most players have assumed the F2000 will be the assault kit unlock for the original Battlefield 2.

But can you imagine using flashbangs on Karkand? This alone would warrant a purchase of the expansion. Think of all the possibilties! And the angry players who get blinded without a clue!

Any clarification would be helpful. Personally, I'd rather have the flashbang.

(Also, does anyone know if the SAS have both the F2000 AND flashbangs in Special Forces? A kit with a grenade launcher AND the ability to stun opponents would be too powerful - perhaps there a multiple kits that force a player to choose between flashbangs and the grenade launcher.)

Yes, you can unlock the flashbangs for the "normal" Assault soldiers.
Yes, the Assault SAS soldier carry the F2000 and he has Flashbangs.

Most likely when you go to choose an unlock you can either choose the Flashbang or the F2000 for assault.

I dont think so....i only see the Flashbang as extra unlock apart the G3.
But all other classes (except sniper/anti-tank) can unlock the SF weapons.

this is a big disappointment. Yes, flashbang is nice on karkand, but with the aid of 1 hit kill gernade, there is really no need for flashbang.

I completely disagree. The FN2000 would only have been marginally, if at all, better than the current selection of assault rifles.

If it were a significantly more effective, this could potentially be a bad thing. I imagine many of us don't want another G36C - and unlock should not completely trump it's replacements.

I would rather have a completely different option for play than a reskined rifle.

it's not an reskined rifle, it's a rifle with 0.43 min dev and 34 damage. face it, this isn't CS. flashbang is good in CS because people don't respawn and gernade doesn't 1 hit kill. I suck in CS, I got owned, i constantly get 0.5 kill to D ratio, but guess what happen here in BF2?

I can get a 3:1 KD easily with assualt rifles, without bunnyhopping, because the first people who sees you doesn't headshot you while he's jumping around.

I was never a big fan of G36C. powerful but inaccurate guns serve me well, but the weak bullet of G36C warns the recipent to get some cover.

If those stats are correct, we would have had yet another G36C or DAO-12.

An unlock should not completely trash the weapon it's intended to replace, instead it should merely provide another option for play. I feel the flashbang does this, and displays a little bit of thoughtful game design on the part of DICE Canada.

Of course, I can understand the need to choose something other than the lousy M16A2 for close range engagements.

Imagine the look on someone's face when they get flashed on Karkand - not owning the expansion, and just having downloaded the patch without realizing the flashbang is now included in their game as well.

Thinking about this, depending on the range of the blinding effect, this could be very interesting. Imagine all the open spaces into which a flashbang can be tossed!

Yeah I agree, the Assault class needs "something" in vanilla BF2. When I play as Assault I try to avoid the noob toob as much as possible but when I have the G3 (a great gun) it seems like I'm just a Medic without the kit. The addition of the flashbang to the assault class will make them much more effective in storming areas (their intended role).

I think it is pretty cheesey that you have to buy BF2:SF to be able to get unlocks like that. However, I dont know how effective it will be. Does the flashbang just shell shock u? y not through a grenade? Anyways, i just have to say....LAME. I am not paying to get extra weapons to use in BF2.

From the videos I've seen, it appears that when a FB goes off, the screen turns completely white for 3 sec and gradually fades back to normal...and I think you are momentarily deafened.

You're not paying just to get extra weapons. There are new maps, vehicles, helicopters, weapons, countries, etc. It seems that DICE has learned from the fact that S@K is the most popular map played, and therefore has correctly responded by making the majority of new maps infantry/urban related.
Without playing it yet, I fail to see what is cheesy or LAME about the upcoming expansion pack.

I was refering to the fact the SF players will be able to use weapons in BF2 that vanilla BF2 players will not be able to use.. I mean they are patching BF2 with SF release for the new weapons, why not let normal BF2 players upgrade too? I mean new weapons arent going to make BF2 anything like SF so why not just let everyone upgrade in BF2?
