    What Makes Bf2 Great

I had always got my daily game intake from my ps2 and xbox. On ps2 i played Metalgear and of course for Xbox it was Halo and Halo 2. I had a pc but it was pretty crappy i could only play games like The Sims and Red Alert  . I remember when i first heard about BF2, i had never played any of the other games in the series. I first read about it in a issue of GameInformer Magazine, and wanted it from the start. So i researched computer parts and saved up all my money atleast $800 dollars!

After saving my money and building my computer and sending in for parts and rebuilding my computer there was only one thing left to do and that was to buy BF2! I rode my bike down to the nearest walmart and ran to the back to the games section and picked up the first copy i saw. I installed it immediatley and began my online campaign. I was Amazed my first game was great i joined a squad and everyone was using headsets and the teamwork was unbelievable. I had played other games online (halo 2) but BF2 doesnt even compare the way the game is broken down into roles and how each member of a squad counts in one way or another, I couldnt stop playing.

I played that whole weekend mostly as a medic, I thought the medic was the coolest thing ever and how cool the BH is and getting in with your squad. I remember playing my favorite map Gulf Of Oman and i was in a squad. The squad leader told us to spawn on him and we all did. We stormed into a base gun blazing taking as many mecs out as we could and as we were taking the control point our sniper covered us from behind picking off any mecs we might have missed. After that we got into two buggys and continued our killing spree and control point taking. I never had a chance to play BF 1942 or the expansion packs but BF2 amazed me and got me into computers and pc games themselves i play when ever i can and always try to get in a good squad and be a good team player. The game might not be perfect but its great and fun to play. The vehicles and the roles you can take is just downright fun and im very interested in BF2 SF and from what i've seen. I think the Battlefield franchise will continue to be great!

I'm told I'm a decent storyteller, so what the heck I'll take a shot at this since I have some pretty good memories.

It was the night of the bf2 demo release. I was into it, you could say. It was Gulf of Oman, and I was a medic. Like the brilliant tactician that I was, I had decided to single handedly attack the base to the west of the map, just off the shore. As I approached the base, I didn't see much movement. Typical of myself, i walked right into the base and was immediately confronted. I was face to face with none one, not two, but three mec soldiers who were conveniently staring dead center in my direction when I turned the corner of the building I was behind. They must have been surprised by my bold move since I had the time to crouch and take one out with 2 or 3 bursts from my m16. When the other two started shooting I realized who had the upper hand. I quickly turned around and ran back to the building corner and narrowly escaped death. As I turned the corner to hide behind the wall, I was so shocked I nearly jumped out of my seat. It was an assault soldier facing me. I reacted almost involuntarily and shot him in the chest and he died. I then realized that some americans are black and fight in the marine core and that I had just shot one of them. What? I was pumped and he looked sort of like a terrorist ok! After the initial shock had passed I pulled out my defibrillators and as I went to revive him one of the real bad guys came up right in front of my face. I freaked again, turned up to face him and all I remember was my character yelling "Clear!" and the guy was on the floor dead. I couldn't stop laughing, and I managed to revive my tk who was without a doubt very confused.

The best moment for me by far was in kubra dam as a spec ops usmc. I had just taken one of the bases overlooking the base in the middle of the dam. I had a humvee rigged with c4, and I had an idea for the greatest stunt ever. Most of the enemy were spawning in that base below me, and the had a supply crate with a few of them crowded around it. I backed up the humvee, and floored it. As soon as i drove off the cliff i quickly exited the car and pulled my chute and activated the c4 when the car was about to land. It blew up the supply crate and three soldiers, and it was too late for the sole survivor because i landed in front of him and finished him off with my m4. Some guys opened fire but I decided to quit while I was ahead and jumped off a ledge, pulled my trusty chute once again and retreated to the safety of the tunnels. It was a wild stunt that just happened to work out perfectly.

Hopefully this is good cause I really want that code.

Re: BF2:Special Forces Online Video 17 Mins + FREE KEY CONTEST

What made me fall in love with the battlefield series is the sense of being able to do what I want, when I want. I was relatively new to PC gaming then, but it seemed like every game was limited to just a FPS. Battlefield expands that genre and let's me command vehicles, pilot planes, and control Anti-Air guns.
Battlefield: 1942 and Battlefield: Vietnam gave me a dose of history while having fun at the same time. History class is a breeze going over WWII battles because I've experienced them and relived them on the battlefield. It gave me a sense that I was there, luckily I could respawn when I was killed though.
Battlefield: 2 may not give me a dose of history, but it teaches me modern weaponry, realistic or not.
What really made me fall in love with Battlefield is the chaos. All other games seem scripted compared to the sure mayhem you see in Battlefield. An enemy tank can be rolling into a flag and slaughtering anyone that comes near, but soon enough you see a friendly plane dive down and obliterate the tank. It really feels like you're all working for the same cause.
Battlefield keeps it fun, no matter what. It isn't about realism, it's about being a fun and balanced game while maintaining accuracy as much as possible. The sense of balance between fun and realism makes it a blast to play over and over. I never buy any other PC games, because I know I'll just end up going back to Battlefield. I'm always short of funds, but I try as hard as I can to manage to pick up the next in the series, knowing it's worth it in the long run.

            Short Story Contest Entry:

I've been a first person shooter fanatic since Wolfenstein 3D and Doom. As both the games and I matured I found myself drifting towards military sims. Inevitably, the games were ruined by those now known pejoratively as "CS players." When I first picked up Battlefield 2 I feared it would suffer the same fate, but then I made a discovery. The tools for success are in the game, you just have to know how to use them...

            "Special is as Special Does"
Operation Clean Sweep, 0-dark hundred, another day fighting for the US of A. I hitch a ride on an F-15 eagle heading out on an anti-armor sortie. My pilot doesn't greet me, which suits me fine. He's got his job to do, and I've got mine and all the C4 to do it with. We're on a clean line to the small airfield when the cockpit's warning systems go off, somebody's locked us up. I put my head on the swivel but before I can locate the source of the problem my pilot jinks right and pulls back hard on the stick. From the twin tails of smoke shooting past us I'd guess we caught the attention of a Fulcrum.

I didn't sign on for this. My pilot puts on altitude fast but I know he can't out perform that Mig. I silently wish my cab-driver good luck and punch out. A rush of air and a roar of engines as the Mig overtakes me so close I could have cleaned his cockpit with a squeegie. I throw an arch and look around to gain my bearings, but I'm too high up to make out the terrain. Time to grip it and rip it, nothing like a HAHO to surprise the enemy anyway. A sweet digital gaming, no worries about opening shock or oxygen bottles.

Slowly the ground comes into view, I'm northwest of what looks looks like a small harbor occupied by the enemy. Perfect. Heading East South-East I glide in and observe the Drop Zone for activity. Overall, pretty quiet, but the occational infantry pops up and dashes off to unknown mischief. I pull my right toggle and begin a figure eight over the objective, dropping my packs of C4 as I go. The ground is coming up fast now so I barely have time to make my turn for my final approach coming in from the south. It seems I've acquired a few spectators who mostly don't know what to make of me. I hope it's somebody's birthday down there because they're about to get a nice present.

Barely double-digits in feet above ground I hit the clicker on my detonator. The area around the objective errupts in fire and debri. That took out a few of my onlookers. Coming in hard and fast I toss a few frags to take care of the stragglers and flair just style. Area secure. I go prone by the objective and watch as it is slowly captured. This is the hard part, the waiting. In a real Op you may have already sanitized the area with no possibility of enemy re-enforcements, or those same forces being safely miles away. In BF2 you know the enemy will be back, and soon. In fact, in ten...nine...

Did I mention I love German Engineering? The G36 is so much cleaner, so much more reliable, and has so much less recoil than the Stoner operating system used in all AR-15/M-15/M4 variants in the US military. My G36c gives a few enemy dejavu while they're still disoriented from respawn. I perform frequent tactical reloads, knowing I may have to empty a mag for suppressive fire and retreat at any moment. Suddenly, I look up, and I'm laying under a full-mast of red, white, and blue. Mission accomplished.

Sometimes it's good when no one loves you. As a squad leader of a one man squad, I definitely felt unloved. But when I heard the rumble of armor inbound and saw no friendlies were due, I was glad I was out here alone. I keyed my coordinates to my commander requesting an arty strike and slipped into the hills. Even as I ran, using cover where possible, I could hear the shreak and roar of metal rain, and the satisfying treble of secondary explosions.

Yes, Battlefield 2 has the agar on which a myriad of diseased players may feed, but it also contains the raw metal from which Spec War can be forged. As players learn the value of squads, of leadership from the front, of tactics, communication, and courtesy I find my experiences in BF2 constantly enriched. I only hope that the expansion "Special Forces" continues to give savvy players an edge over noob-tubing bunny hoppers. You can pick a "Spec Ops" kit, kiddies, but in the end, Special is as Special does.

                      Fourth contest details ...

9PM CST TONIGHT. Battlefield 2 Turkey Hunt. Rules ..

                      1. This is a turkey hunt. It's everyone vs the turkey. Knives only, you may kill eachother with knives / vehicles but no weapons of any kind may be used EXCEPT for C4. C4 kills on the turkey will not count but C4 may be used to clear others from the chase.

                      2. I am the turkey. You are only allowed to kill me with knives, any other method of killing will not earn you a point. If you shoot me with a sniper rifle, no point will be awarded. Same goes with artillery, running me over, etc. Knife kills ONLY.

                      3. This will be run off a 32 person server. Since it's 31 vs 1 and you can kill eachother, expect to have negative scores. If you can host this contest, please let me know as we would like to run this on a server with no tk punish and light administration (to boot people using guns for example).

                      4. The person who gets the most knife kills on me wins the contest. If there is a tie, the game will go into sudden death where the first person to break the tie wins.

                      5. The prize is one Special Forces CD key which gives you the game for free to download from the EA Downloader system.

                      Stay tuned for more details!

We may use Uber's server. Again, the contest would start around 9PM CST and it's a first come first serve match. If the server fills up, you can keep trying but no promises that slots will open up unless people are abusing the rules.
