I've been on plenty of servers where theres a "top gun" type strafing and bombing like crazy... getting some rediculous 50-70 kills, maybe one death. I've found the best defense against them is to avoid them. Stay out of vehicles, on foot, off of major roadways. I capped flags between his bombing runs and when he was focused on other cap points. Whenever the flag turned neutral, I would fall back about 30-50m and wait for the impending carpet bombing that followed about 3/4 of the time. Then I moved back in and capped it as he went back to reload (this may happen twice before the flag is capped)

I'm not going to say I never get killed, but I'm rarely caught in those carpet bombings of flaming death. For sure a great pilot impedes me getting an above average score, but at least I'm not part of the fodder with this technique.

Find a roof to hide under.
      Use AA vehicles properly.
Get in a plane and shoot him down.
Keep him from being able to take off.
Fly your chopper like a lunitic (my specialty ).

Hey, you said you wanted to hear it.
Bombs don't fly straight down like arty, they come in at an angle, so the jet pilot can just bomb you through the windows. AA barley ever kills planes, and also (I'm pretty sure) gives you a heat signature, so while you're better equipped to kill someone, you're also better equipped to die. Preventing him from taking off is close to impossible unless you're a commander (in which case I do that quite often) because there is a very short window when the jet will be on the ground since half the enemy team is camping for it. It will spawn and be taken a second later, and stay on the runway for less than that. I don't see how flying a chopper like a lunatic helps either...aren't chopper's jet fodder also?

Gort's dictionary defines "Tank* whore" as:

            Tank Whore
            Pronounced - Ta[ng]k 'hOr
            Noun
            1) a person that only uses a tank* and will prevent others from using it by destroying the tank* or killing a person attempting to use the tank* or both.
            2) a person who uses a tank* just outside of a spawn point with the intent of killing as many people who spawn in, while making no attempt to actually capture that spawn point.

            (* any vehicle)

Sorry, I missed this the first time. I guess I never really thought of the "nuetralize and go" thing. But besides that, I'm not sure staying out of a vehicle helps. If there's one thing Operation Cleansweep has taught me it's that jets are more than capable of killing infantry. Then again, I suppose the lack of a heat signature could help, if tanks have one.

                  Re: Define "Tank Whoring"

Whoring seems to be on the increase lately, last night, one player called Marrr, used the tank the whole night long, no idea how he got to the tank faster than everyone else, everytime, but he did...

He has something like 40,000 kills with armour on his stats, he wouldn't bother trying to cap any flags at all, his mate (and admin who told everyone that complained about the whoring to stfu or I will kick you) commander whored the whole evening and gave Marrr supplies every time....

I gave up on vehicles until recently, when I needed to get a badge and went back to the vehicles after a couple of months...I had given up on it, because it just wasn't any fun anymore...All you seem to get in the vehicles area are selfish, squabbling little kids.

I think its bs that people wait in the vehicle areas and then try and take the vehicles from others, the way I always played was that at the start of the round if you don't get a vehicle, you get a lift elsewhere and fight on the ground or with a vehicle elsewhere.

Nowadays If I come acrross someone really whoring and being a real smacktard to boot, I just throw myself in front of their tank a few times and hope thet get kicked, I know thats not so cool either, but why should I treat people that play like this with any respect, when they show none for the others in the game.

A vehicle is not meant to cap flags. Specialisation is good for your team. There is no whore.

The only people that whine and cry about whore this whore that, are the ones that get owned by them. There's many ways to counter any "whore" spawn AT, engineer, Spec Ops, all can eliminate a tank.

If you have a tank provide cover for your fellow troops to cap a flag, and yes, this means killing enemy that spawn before the flag is yours.

When I play, I HOPE my team has an apc whore, a tank whore, etc... Its critical to winning... Example - lets use Karkand. Ever been in the middle of a fight, dealing with infantry, see the enemies T-90, then hear your M1A1 roll up behind you only to notice that its now in enemy hands? Or better yet, I can't tell you how many times I've commanded on USMC and had to get one of my clanmates in TS to spawn back at our base just to put the tank/apc to use since it was sitting unused in our spawn.

The tank whore will make sure the vehicle is put to good use... The casual player will use it a round or two, then bail on it in frustration after he gets C4'd yet again. Given the spawn location of most of the armor in this game, its a good idea to have someone dedicated to using it throughout the round. Otherwise, it goes without being used, or ends up in the hands of the S.O. player that just visited your main to blow the commander's assets.

Sure, there has been plenty of times I've wanted a helo or tank only to see several people waiting for it....I'll just get in a jeep and join the battle on foot. But at least I'll do so knowing that I'll be getting back up from the tank / helo / apc I was trying to use....
I agree 100%. Get out of the tank and "let others get some points"? Anyone who is more focused on getting points than working together to win the round is an idiot, and deserves to have their tank whored away from them.

People who bitch about "whoring" do so for one of two reasons:

                          1) You suck as infantry, and need to use [insert vehicle name here] to get a good score too.
                          2) You suck as infantry, and can't do anything about enemy armor/aircraft rolling up on you.

Either issue can be solved by getting better at the game. Even if my team sucks hard, and we only have 1 base left to spawn in, and we're being overwhelmed by vehicles, I STILL have no problem either taking 1 or 2 out, or simply sneaking off to capture an unguarded flag, and thus luring them away.

Just like The_Misfit said, it's better to have someone in a vehicle than to have it just sitting around not being used, or even worse, being used AGAINST you by the enemy!

If you hate the whoring because people keep taking the vehicles and using them as transportation, then ditching them, or because they suck and keep crashing them, well that's a "crapass teammate" issue, and you're going to have problems with them whether they're in a vehicle or not.

And for the record, I spend more time on foot than I do in any of the vehicles. I could care less if someone has the vehicles all the time, as long as SOMEONE has them, and they know how to use them. I AM sick of complainers... YOU ruin the game, not the "whores".

                            Good grief....

A tank whore like all of the _____ whores is derived from the term crack whore. If you would sell your mother's soul for a tank, you're a tank whore. If you kill people with the tank you are not a tank whore, if you kill at spawn points you are not a tank whore, although you may be a camper, if you kill someone running for 'your' tank you ARE a tank whore.

Some people can't deal with getting killed at a spawn point. Its part of the game, when someone eventually makes roving spawn points it won't be an issue. If you get killed when you spawn take a moment to check out the area or spawn somewhere else.

                              Re: Define "Tank Whoring"

What is wrong with using a tank all the time if you're good at it?? Are you supposed to handicap yourself if you're too good? Sheesh, poor sports I tells ya.

And for future reference, here's the criteria for determining whether someone's a "Tank Whore":

You're running around, when all of a sudden "tnkwhr" kills you with a M1A2 tank. Fair enough. You respawn, when all of a sudden, "tnkwhr" kills you again. Now, "tnkwhr" has killed us twice with a tank, thus we can legitimately call him/her a tank whore.

The moral: Don't grief someone for being better than you.

                              :)

Another good point. Also, they DO have roving spawn points.. it's called a Squad Leader. Either tell your squad leader to move to another location so you can spawn on him, or become a SL, and tell people to spawn on YOU.
