Define "Tank Whoring"

im getting pretty angry every time someone calls me a noob and a tank whore. why does everyone call me a noob. most people are calling me a spawn camper, and are saying that i don't have any skills...

if you drive a tank you need a good bunch of skills to survive on the battlefield. not everyone can drive a tank and survive for a while.

Spawn Camping: WHY?..many times im going for the last flag and killing everyone who spawns. yea it is spawn killing, but i just want to help my teammates from getting killed. i give support and wan't to help them. should i just run away when someone calls me a spawn raper...come on this is to lame.

In a real war no one would care if you "spawn kill"..everyone uses the best technics to survive. many times the allies have a bigger army than the enemy. you can't say "tank whore" in a real war...no one would care.
i know, BF isnt real war, but its a war game. so why not play it like a real war. Real war is unfair and will never be balanced. so get over it.

i can kill you, but you can also kill me. so why is everyone whining. there are to many AT guys out there. and if you have a well organized squad, then you can quickly take out a tank..2-3 missiles and you are done. tanks are big and clumsy so you have enough chances to take him down. a soldier is small and can move fast. its not the tank commander who is a noob, but the soldier who complains about the tank commander.

last time i played i got in a real good team. no one took my tank and everyone appriciated that i owned the other team. the other team even started a discussion with my team mates. and 2-3 of the foes called me noob and tank whore. its to lame. tanks are part of the game and need to give support for the team. if you play in a well organized team and use the tank wisely you can get a cool fight...so please don't complain about the Tank Commanders.

When you die in the tank, do you spawn then run and grab a tank or apc again? That's Tank Whoring IMO. Get out of your steel box, pick up a rifle and let someone else get a few free points.

Any "whore" is someone who seems fixated on only doing one thing - noob tube, fly a jet, drive a tank, have sex. Most of the time, "whore" activities are ones that more effectively insulate you from danger or are easier to perform, especially compared to other roles.

The impression we get is that you basically suck at everything else, and NEED to use a given vehicle (jet, tank) in order to survive or excel.

The best way to debunk whoring is to mix things up - do something different and higher risk, and continue to be effective. Then all we can accuse you of is being a really good player.

yea you are right warton...often i take my tank a drive again...i cant get so many kills with a rifle than with a tank...but on the other side i don't tk to get a tank. if someone takes my tank i just play as infantry.

IMO real tank whores are those you BASE RAPE...standing in the enemys main base and kill everything without giving them a chance...THAT IS TANK WHORING...im never doing such things...and when i spawn rape its because there is only 1 flag left...if not i drive to another destination after a short time...so i never stay at the same sport for a long time..

Be proud of being a tank whore, or "ground pounder" as I'd prefer to call it, your stats pretty much say it all. So long as you don't deliberately WAIT for it to come, I wouldn't complain.

Spawn camping being bad only applies to uncapturable bases in my book.

BF is a game, games are meant to be equal oppotunity, thus needing balance in order to give everyone a chance, the fact that it just lies on a war theatre is simply for illusion, wars are unfair, games are not, would you complain if I smashed your king with a sledgehammer in Chess ?

However, if you can get your own team to root for your tank skills, no worries.

yea i know Shivva...i have focused on the tank. but that doesnt mean that im not doing anything else...sometimes i play as infantry...i just think that it is to lame to call us a noob without skills...you need more skills to drive a tank than to shoot a missile or use the Noob Tube...

there's no skill in shooting hapless victims that are just spawning at their CP. how would you like to be the guy that has to get gunned down 20 times in a row by the tank that's been camped at the end of the runway for the whole game? that's not fun at all, maybe for the guy in the tank it is. even if there's 10 AT guys on the other team, it still takes atleast a good 4 seconds to aim and shoot at a tank. by that time, you're already hearing your heartbeat.

you don't really need any skills to survive in a tank. it's probably the easiest vehicle to use in BF2 and it packs massive firepower to boot. the damn machine gun on the tank is like an automatic laser cannon, and the tank gun will deafen anyone that's near the blast.

since you're looking for a definition of tank whoring, here it is: tank whores are people who constantly drive tanks throughout the whole game. tired of people calling you a tank whore? stop bitching and start mixing up your playstyle then and quit using the same damn vehicle every chance you get. you ever been called a scrub at the arcade cause you picked Ryu and Ken all the time? too bad you can't punch someone in BF2 because it's the same kind of annoying and monotonous player as a tank whore.

bitvomit: what i try to say is that i don't camp like you are explaining. as i sad before i only camp when i want to take over a flag or help my mates to get a flag.

i know that it is easy to drive a tank but you can also be killed easily...as you might see i prefer strike at karkand as my favo. map...in this map a soldier have plenty of chances to take down a tank...if you use the tow and a missile you are down in a sek, and the tank can't do anything at all..

1) You don't "spawn" in real life.

2) BF2 is by no means realistic, and most comparrisons to real life are pointless.

3) It is not played like a real war, because (not through personal experience) War in its-self is not a pleasent and fun thing to do.

4) Your missing the main point of video games. Their supposed to be Fun.

Its not fun when you spawn and get killed a second later constantly. Its not fun, when your run at a tank with C4, and the driver is looking on outside view and sees you do it.

Yes but you can kill infantry easier, you have your main gun, with a large splash damage for around corners and your MG. I have a 5.5mm bullet.

And generally all the AT guys are all too busy rocket sniping.

i guess i can put my 2 cents in since I use a tank a lot, but if you want to go ahead and look at my stats to see if i am a "whore," be my guest. You'll see i have just over 3000 kills with a tank, yet i have over 10000 global kills. In other words, I don't just use a tank or something. I use vehicles when they are around. If I see someone else there, I usually let them have the vehicle, because I don't care. 90% of the time anyway they die within a minute lol. Its hard to determine who is a whore or not, because I would prefer to have someone who knows how to use a tank or vehicle be supporting the team than some idiot that can drive into walls better than anything else.

I am a good tanker, why? Because I support my team. I don't "base rape", I usually clear out the area and always stick around with the infantry on the ground. Best part about that is, doing so, usually they support me right back by taking out AT guys, or if I am lucky, there is an engineer right there repairing me when I get hit. So if someone wants to classify me as a "tank whore", let them. I've seen far worse than what I do in the game, at least I support the guys on the ground.

yea you are right Eagle...bf is meant to be fun...but it has potent to be played seriously...squad team play, commanders etc....

i never use the "outside" cam ...but i know what you mean...many times i got killed by c4 and i dont even know where it was from. when im trying to cap a flag it is pretty easy for a spec op to take me down...most times they can throw some c4 over a wall...but most of them never do it...some of the veteran spec ops are hiding their c4..and when a tank is passing by...BOOM..

Good points, I'd like to respond to the bold section. Most folk who do 'whore' a particular vehicle do so because they (rightly or wrongly) assume they are the best with it and dont want to see someone less skilled get it.
but then how would these 'lesser' skilled people be able to get their skills up if they cannot get into vehicles in real online map which is different from single play practice.

If you come to the base just to spawn kill that is being a spawn raper. If you are capturing a flag and someone spawns, you are within their line of fire and kill them, I don't consider that spawn raping.

However, "I was helping my team" is no excuse. A hacker can help his team a lot. Are you condoning hacking?

THIS IS A GAME, NOT A REAL WAR! HOW MANY TIMES WILL WE HAVE TO SAY THIS!? Chances are with 138 posts you've heard this argument before so I'm guessing you refuse to believe it simply because you don't want to. And yeah, in a real war people spawn kill...right? I see the US marines spawn killing on the streets of baghdad everyday.

I agree tanks take skill. People who say otherwise need to realize there can be more to a game then how many times you can hit your opponent while you both bunnyhop around eachother.
