Re: Bunny Hopping and Exploiting the game

Bunny hopping is a tool for those who are more concerned with score than with skill. That's all it boils down to.

It's an obvious exploitation of game mechanics.

If I'm outgunned and I take for the hills, I might jump ONCE. Maybe.

Is Battlefield 2 a military simulator? No. It's just a game. But it's a game that's structured as closely to real life as it can be, while still maintaining it's entertainment value.

Jumping is a tool that allows the player to more readily traverse difficult terrain. That is its purpose. Bunny-hopping is abusing that tool by using it for other than its intended purpose.

Not to mention that it seriously detracts from other people's enjoyment of the game. Nothing distroys one's suspension of disbelief faster than unrealistic behaviour of a realistic figure in a realistic environment. It's a crutch for people who can't aim well with a mouse.

Re: Bunny Hopping and Exploiting the game

The problem I have with bunny hoppers is the poor collision detection and netcode in the game-meaning it can be very hard to hit them, even when you should be hitting them, you miss due to lag, poor hitboxes, etc. It moves the game away from 'skill' towards 'luck and button mashing'.

And it's just bloody stupid to see people bouncing up and down six feet into the air in a war game. :P It's also stupid how you can prone in midair, change direction, float around, and so on. I once saw an engineer who would jump, prone, and sort of 'superman' glide around before dropping again, it was utterly impossible to hit him.

Bunny hopping however, is not a part of the game.. a lot of people (like myself) want to have a proper firefight which involves skill and timing, not a firefight involving 5 people who are 2 meters from eachother jumping around like loons, seeing who can hit who first.
        Have you tried america´s army?

If you want gritty fire fights, realism, and skill to win that´s the game, if you want plain fun stick to battle field, and don´t get angry abaut people that jump, think other way, if they are not as good as you, you´ll end the winner not the whiner .

I pay for the server, I don't like it. It's a simple rule posted in the notes of the server saying, " We Bann all Bunnies, Dolphins, and Children ."

So. If they can't follow the rules. The server brower has plenty of other Ip's for them to "Hop-it-Up" on. Just not in my house!

Oh! ...and there are Hitbox, and Netcode issues with Hoppers in regards to rifles. So, it's kinda' sorta' an exploit. The M203 is the patch though !

It is not so much the bunny hopping that gets to me its the fact you can jump about 10 foot in the air.

Yeah I know you pay for the server and you can make as many silly rules as you like.

I tend to avoid servers with silly rules and join servers that let people express themselves within the rules of the game and not make their own up.

:p Right on target, I think I owe you an apology.

I started this trend, but in reality as I gain some skill I bunny hop less, I just get ****ed is when I get killed by someone wich bunny hops in the process, then 5 minutes later I kill him in the same way and he starts to whine and tries to ban me.
I realy don´t think that hopping detracts much from this game, not enough for so many people cry to change it in a patch when there are more serious issues that must be fixed, but it is really my personal opinion.

P.S.-Someone said before that this game is as close to real battle as possible...c´mon this is an arcade game...a real fun one but nothing to do with reality.

                    I dont bunnyhop

I just find it rather stupid... advantage or not... it just looks stupid...

In difficult situations, I prone and aim for the head... if he bunnyhops... ill still kill him considering my lack of recoil next to his...

if I finish my clip, ill either use the handgun or run, out of handgun ammo, if still alive... ill run like hell... I might jump, but just once

I am a Counter-strike player and its almost impossible to bunnyjump without a script... and we ban for those scripts.

I don't bunny hop, but I sure do kill enjoy killing those that do. If I catch you hopping and wax your dumb ass, you'll get a complementary "lol bunny hop" over global chat.

And you will know me by the trail of dead... bunnies.

If you don't like hoppers, go to modded servers where either gravity is turned up or jump height is reduced. I remember when they did this in CoD and the bunnyhoppers disconnected within the first 2 minutes when they realized they couldn't bounce about like cricket on speed.

I would turn and shoot after finding cover or going prone. Jumping is for easily startled kids.

I admit that I hop around in a few circumstances...

                              1) Being shot at from long range and I can't find the shooter.

                              2) An enemy has spawned on our carrier and is nailing everyone who spawns.

                              3) I am out of ammo and am trying to get behind some cover to reload.

In my opinion, it is a legit tactic in most situations. However, as posted above, when two people are toe to toe and one is hopping around, it is quite annoying.
