Re: Who's NOT buying the expansion??

I love how people complain about a game that they aren't forced to play. Give it a break. Don't preach about evil EA and the expansion and then avidly search the Battlefield 2 forums to quench your thirst for a "buggy game". If you don't like EA, completely drop their products. Don't complain about them and do nothing about it. Hypocrites...

I'm confused, that's what Expansion packs always were : Retail Mods. Mods you pay to play that are made by the peeps who made the main game. So saying SF is an overglorified Mod is like stating that a Viper GTS is an overglorified 2-door coupe.

I'd rather donate the money to the DCon Devs, or to other good mod teams...

              Probably not buying SF.

I most likely will pick this up to add some variety. You can get it for $30, free shipping, and a free shirt from gamestop. I think it will be fun and fairly supportive considering the amount of people that own bf2 already.

I plan to buy it....AFTER they fix the plethora of bugs in BF2 first.

How dare they release an expansion pack just a scant 5 months after the BETA release of the original game.

I'll be interested to see how many of you who have claimed you won't get it, actually are lying out your a$$es.

In fact, I'm going to go through this thread and keep a list of those who have stated they won't get it. Then when those of you who are lying start posting your gripes about the game, I'm just going to flame you.

I'm never buying it. To help you remember, feel free to write my name on your hand and then slap yourself in the face.

What's funny, is that those of us who are passing on the expansion have the benefit of precedent on our side. I glanced over some stats at BFTracks, and here's what I found.
                              Period: Oct 21-Nov 19

Number of people playing vanilla BF 1942:
7725, or 257 players active per day

Number of people playing Secret Weapons and Road to Rome (BF1942 expansions), combined:
567, or 18 players active per day

Desert Combat, Desert Combat Final, and Forgotten Hope all had more than twice as many active players, EACH, over both expansions COMBINED.

What you say? People are still playing BF expansions? It's a testament to their greatness!

Well, no. It's mathematically expected that at least a few people will fall in love with the expansions. But let's do some more math. If we assume that peak play times amount to an 8 hour block per day, and then sprinkle the 18 daily players (from both expansions, mind you) over that 8 hour block, it means that during a given hour you'll encounter 1.25 other people, besides yourself, playing.

And when compared to the longevity of the vanilla game (the oldest and most popular of the lot), or the mods, the expansions are performing horribly.

                              What does this teach us?

It should teach that those of us who have been with the BF series since the beginning are worth listening to. BF expansions aren't very good, and never have been. Most people who have blown money on them before know it, and many people who are new to the series but have enough brains to think critically have figured it out too.

You're welcome to believe that this time things will be different, or try to convince yourself that you love SF just to justify the financial expenditure in your brain. Hell, you might be one of the 18 people per day that, ultimately, love it.

But I predict that three months from now, if you're still playing BF2, you'll be back to the regular game or knee deep in a mod, wondering why you ever blew $30 on SF in the first place.

And guess who will be there to flame YOU.

I just find it funny that you aren't going to buy it fine, you've stated that yet you continue to post in the forum for it.

Go away, because those of us who ARE going to buy it don't need or want to hear the crap you have to say about it.
