I am certain you can connect with the same IP address, there were 3 people on my server a few nights ago all with the same IP address.Comment

FACT: You can play with as many computers as your connection will support with one internet account.
FACT: I have a 3 mg x 3 meg connection at the house and we run four BF2 pc's on it at a time.
PORT FORWARDING is not the awnser.
If you can post what kind of router you have that would be great. Just reply here and we will get you going.
In a nutshell. Lets say your using a DSL connection with PPOE.
(Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet is a proposal specifying how a host personal computer (PC) interacts with a broadband modem (i.e. xDSL, cable, wireless, etc) to achieve access to the growing number of High speed data networks.)
Go into your router config and setup your router for PPOE. input your user ID and password. Your router will then conect to your IP and negotiate a IP address for your router. Setup your router for DHCP, don't forget to assign the ranges. Its a good Idea that if you have wireless at your house to limit the amount of addresses your DHCP sever will hand out. Example. If you have four machines set your DHCP to hand out only five addresses. 168.0.0.1 - 168.0.0.5. Its also a good idea to pick a ip range different from the standard 192.168.X.X ranges. (Security Reasons)
Once this is all done reboot the router and then each PC. Your PC's should get a IP from the router (Both different from each other) and then your good to go.

So now that we know EA hasn't limited the IP's to one per person per server we need to find out why his router isn't working.
If the two computers and networked they they each have thier own IP address internally as well.
This leads me to believe there is a problem with the CD-Keys or the router itself.Comment

Thanks for all the comments and replies...
Perhaps I need to do more testing...it didn't work on a few servers so I assumed....(never assume, it makes an ass out of u and me)
In any case, I have an SMC Barricade 7008ABR Router. I agree, port forwarding is not the answer, unless I was trying to host a game from behind my router.
I will continue testing, and let you all know how I make out.
Again, this forum was certainly the most productive for answers!

Thats exactly how you do it. You must have a DHCP server, if you do not, you can use whatever old pc, pII 300Mhz would do it, just install linux and dhcp server.Originally posted by TSS SNIPE

Or you can use Windows and have it enable Internet Connection Sharing. It has a slimmed down and limited DHCP and DNS proxy service. Works just fine for most ppl.Originally posted by Primski

Yeah that would work too. Tell me one thing thou, must you have Windows server, or will XP work ? Can you set up your own home desktop computer to do that, and what are his resource consumption then ? Will he be able to play games normaly or will that PC be too ocupied. in that case i recomend separte PC with linux. I have setup like that quite a few networks , and it works great. Good news!!!
I discovered my problem...I had configured my router to forward some ports to my dedicated BF2 server...
Once I disabled those ports being forwarded, my son and I were able to join the same internet server at the same time!!! WOO HOO!!!

By the way, my subject "TICKED OFF" still applies...The EA Support rep who told me I was out of luck obviously had NO FRIGGIN CLUE what he was talking about....Comment
