    TICKED OFF! Need expert advice!

EA support has just told me that my son and I cannot play BF2 on the same server, even though we each have our own copy of BF2 (legally purchased mind you)...

Since we're behind a router, the server see's the same IP address, and so only one of us can join...

There has GOT to be a way around this.

Does anyone know how to address this issue?

I will send a home baked chocolate chip cookie to whomever can fix this problem for us! (Damn good cookies!)

    Thanks for any info!

Off the top of my head I cannot say if there is a way. Even if you set yourself up to bounce off another server both IPs will still be the same. Although I don't see why EA would limit it to one IP since there are always people who have small LAN parties which always end up hoping onto a pub server.

If they limited that then I say they are stupid and it should be taken out. As of right now I do not know if there is a way around this.

Hmmn sounds odd that EA support would say that.

Take a look at this similar thread:
Akses VIRUS88 sebagai agen Slot88 resmi dan terpercaya 2026 dengan game gacor terbaru, proses praktis, promo harian menarik, serta layanan online 24 jam.

He mentions in thread that he got manuals mixed up and probbly used the same key for both installations, so it should be possible to play behind a router with more than one cd-key.

you could always get a second ISP connection. if you're on cable, get another cable modem. you can use the same cable wire (split of course) but with different ip's since your internet accounts are attached to your cable modem's MAC address. You just gotta pay for two internet connections though. another way would be to steal a neighbor's wifi connection and go wireless on one comp.

there are ways to spoof your ip (change it to a different ip on the internet) but that would just mean that the server would not be able to send you data cuz it wouldn't know how to find your real ip.

Something is not setup right, my roommate and I use a router and we are able to play together just fine.

maybe it requires port forwarding for both computers?

Possibly the port, I know that CS:S requires the players to be on different ports inorder to play on the same server. Though I've never had that problem with BF2.

Port forwarding would be used if he was running a server on his private lan and someone was coming in to his server from the internet.
You don't use port forwarding when you are the client joining a server on the internet.
You both should be able to join the same server as long as your CD keys are unique.

                          Try visiting this site:
                          (these pages specifically)

Overview of router port triggering compared to port forwarding. Port Triggering is like port forwarding with an on/off switch for the ports that have been forwarded.

Port Triggering may be your answer.

LOTS of people play with multiple unique copies on a LAN all on the same WAN IP through a router.

                          Either:

                          a) you accidentally set up both copies with the same CD key

                          or

                          b) you have to set up your router.

quake3 used to be the same, but I think they fixed it.
