at least for me. I only play on average of about an hour a day and am not a bad player, but not great either. I'm beginning to lose interest, as impossible as I thought that could be when I first started playing. Tonight I was tk'ed three times by the same guy (on purpose) and then after going to another server, wound up on a map where airpower was obliterating anything that moved. I suffered through that for awhile then went to another server where I think the average age (and IQ was about 12). Finally decided to quit and was reflecting on how I don't get excited at the thought of playing this game anymore. Maybe familiarity breeds contempt in this case, but I can't wait to get Civilization IV or Age of Empires III. I'll no doubt keep Battlefield 2 on my HD and play it from time to time whenever I need a FPS fix, but the golden days of BF2 are over for me. Just wanted to put this post out there to see if I'm out on a limb on this or if others are beginning to feel the same way. That's all.

I know what you mean. I stopped playing the game for about a month but then I discovered PRMM. This mod made BF2 into the game it should have been. AA fire actually works so it's difficult for airpower to be quite so dominate and there have been an entire host of other changes. It also offers a new game mode which makes things much more interesting.

To me the game is only fun when you don't have noobs taht are crazy about stats, so crazy to tankwhore and spawnrape all day. It also is fun when you have a squad that works, a squad leader that stays back for squad members to join in, a non-tking commander and actual teamwork in place of selfish noobs that are hungry for stats. I'll check that PRMM mod out, BTW, does it work with online?Comment

Its an online game, which, considering your love for civilization (wonderful game), does not suit your habit of your enemy submiting to your play-style.You're problem is that you're a lemming. I'm a civ old timer and been playing it since Civ1 .. I still return to Civ2 for the great gameplay. Civ4 is a piece of crap. Same problems that BF has:
- buggy
- over simplified to sell more
- too balanced
If it wasnt for my love for BF1942 & DC or Project Reality/FH/POE, this game would be on ebay right now.
I try not to pub anymore because the BF community has grown into a HUGE group of smacktards and assholes. It's partly due to the fact that some options in BF2 breed these people.. ie:
- TK punish (the punish system in BF1942 was perfect)
- Points/Ranking
- The new comm system.
- The new VOIP system.
- Oversimplification of the game to attract more players & money.Comment

Your problem is that you are failing to comprehend what I wrote and are jumping to conclusions based on my very limited post. I'm not sure where I said people killing me with skill is ruining my game, but if that's what you want to believe, more power to you. Allow me to restate in simpler terms that you may understand. I am not enjoying this game as much as I used to due to tk'ing, juvenile behavior, diminishing co-op play, and airpower dominance (read the multiple threads on airpower in case you are unfamiliar with this particular aspect of the game). If the items I listed equate to people changing their playing style to a style which I find unenjoyable, then you are absolutely correct and yes, it is my problem. A problem I will solve by playing less. I hope you were able to comprehend what I just wrote, because I don't know how else to describe it. Thanks for your input. yeah, Bf2 is lame.
nothing but a bunch of kids and noobs. No offense to 'noobs' who are true
'new players' , but noobs in the sense that they just dont give a damn about
winning, or even trying for that matter.
The air power in the game is a total sham. Then to top it off you get to
listen to all the @ssholes in this forum say 'oh, you just cant fly so you
whine about it..' BULLLLLLLL SH|T.
BF2 was fun for about 6-8 weeks, thats it. After that all the kiddies,
tk'ers and morons took over. Factor in the HORRIBLE server admins
out there, who have a list a mile long of DO NOTs but are never around
to enforce them, or even worse, they kick you when you kill one of them
and then claim youre some kind of cheat.
There are some decent people here in the BF2 community, but over-all
its the lamest bunch Ive ever encountered in a game.. This forum is a
total joke, also. They'll close down your thread if its anti-bf2..happened
to me 3 times, and I stayed on point, and didnt flame anyone at the time.
I took my copy of BF2 and packaged it up this morning, took it back
to EB games store, and demanded a refund, which I received. The kid
behind the counter admitted to me he thought the game sucked, too.
EA just doesnt have a clue. The problem is, that they think they do.
By far the biggest flop in my gaming history, and what ****es me off
more is that I went out and bought a high dollar video card and another
512 stick of ram just to play it, neither of which I need now, because
my old rig played EVERY other game just fine.

Heaven forbid people play different that someone on the internet, yes? I don't see where I advocated people change to suit someone else's playing style. If an unranked community server has rules such as no camping mains unless all flags are taken or something, I'm all for those as generally such simple rules make for a better community. However, for people to complain just because they think a tactic is lame, those people need to re-evaluate their own play-style and learn to adapt and overcome. However, having said all of that, the game has lost it's appeal because it's the same thing, again and again, with little room for change. Especially with the tyranical rule that EA imposes upon ranked servers, not allowing for server settings to mix it up a little. Instead, we are doomed to the same game mode, the same settings, the same things over and over. There's nothing to mix it up. The only thing it lacks is everyone picking one game-play style and to all play it, then the game would be at an absolute monotonous state. (and of course, players do pick one style and stick to it, but everyone generally has a different style, which is about the only thing different from game to game)Comment
