The commander should drop UAV's where the enemy is, give our armor supplies, and our infantry supplies when they can, and thats it.

Sorry but I don't feel like taking orders from you an entire round - if they spam me with it I'll just accept it an dnot follow it. I know what I'm doing - and I don't need your orders to do it :)

sorry if the others in the server can't figure out what to do on their own.

You may "Know what you are doing" but buddy you dont have a view of the battlefied anywhere near what the commander can see....Let the commander point you in the direction to do what you know to do....The commander is your eye in the sky, if he is doing a good job at giving you things and placing UAVs maybe you should follow his orders and help the team....Sometimes you have to take one for the team sometimes ya dont.....

what you fail to realize is that i don't really care whats going on on the battlefield in a pub. Its a pub... If it were a pickup game, a scrimage, or a match I'd definatly follow the commander - I pub to get away from the style of play needed for match type games.

Sorry if you play pubs to be excelent, and play the right way. I play them to goof off and have a little fun in some downtime.

Oh that's nice. don't they call that kind of crap stat padding? are you aware that some of us actually LIKE to be commander (and do the job right) and you are ruining the game for them? I mean really why do you bother???

In non-ranked servers right... Or are you ones that will go into ranked servers to mess around and ruin other people gamin expeirences...

You faild to realize that the commander can show you where the action is and keep in check with his other squads how many he sends to one location...instead of having 12 guys to take on 2 and 2 guys to take on 12....etc.

no, non-ranked servers lack skill on a level that I never ever play on them. It'd be pointless... Not trying to act like I'm the best at the game, because I am in no way that. However I just don't have fun on non-ranked servers.

I don't "ruin other people's games". I don't even have contact with them other than when/if I kill them.

I do not fail to realize the importance of the commander - I just don't care in pubs. Your team winning or loosing the map has nothing to do with your personal skill, and when pubbing thats all you should be worried about. If you're seriously trying to get your team to "win" every time, you're wasting your time.

It is that attitude right there that makes it so....Pubs dont have to be about you....and Im pretty sure every RANKED server is a pub server...clan regardless...

I dont always follow the commander but I try to as much as possible...especially if he is doing a good job...

The biggest thing that gets me is when you ask for orders over and over again and you never get any....lol

which is a perfectly valid and acceptable way of playing. Which is why I don't really get upset if guys ignore my orders. So long as your not one of those players who bitch about commander spam cause some players may appreciate know where the bad guys are.

I mean commanders... If a squad ignores your first 2 or 3 orders just give it up and either help those that do obey or just forget the orders. don't get upset about it.

Re: "Why do n00bs think they have the right to tell us experts how to play."

It's sad but the truth of the matter is that if you assign a small squad to defend a remote flag then the members of that squad, while they will get the win, they will not stand out in points. They will certainly not be eligible for a medal in the round. The game is flawed. It places more importance on individual stats and sets that against the system of squads and commander. The truth is a good commander can help by facilitating good comms. Drop arty when it's needwed, resupply when needed and that's about it. Since the commander cannot award points, kills, badges or anything else, ultimately it's on the player themselves to go, grab the enemy's tank and cause as much mayhem as possible. Otherwise the commander would be able to assign tasks, like you, you go to sqaud #3 as medic. Have you ever tried to command a team full of engineers and snipers? Or have 4 people working on their knife badge? Wow half my team had a 1:12 k/d ratio.... they must be new.

I understand your frustration with people that simply don't like being directed by others but in the end, your orders are more like suggestions. Since we are answerable to only the points we make, we... euphamistically we, not me, don't really need to listen to you at all. It's kind of funny really, the person that gets to command is the one with the highest rank, which is gotten from, no offense, point whoring. I can tk to get a fighter, rack up stupid points and suddenly I'm a commander? I'm supposed to suddenly yell at others for their lack of teamwork? It's really a stupid system. It's a fun game, but really poorly thought out. I agree with other posts that say commander should be decided by teamwork score, not combat score. No offense against the OP, I have no personal knowlege of your scores or actions, simply stating what I have noticed overall.

                      Not really true...

I ALWAYS Listen to the commander...

besides, when a team has NO commander... they lose...

Commander is a big part of this game... without teamwork... you lose miserably.

Well I can think of a few examples when I've been a sqd leader, yelling at the commander who was no less than 5 feet away, that we had 2 guys at our spawn trying to steal our jet. I ended up fighting them for the better part of 10 minutes, because they kept switching who was sqd leader to spawn in, and in addition my commander seemed like he must have left to visit the toilet, get some munchies, talk on IM, and some other things as he was a complete loafer.

As for being commander and trying to get folks to follow orders, ever heard of positive reinforcement? Sometimes, it goes a long way to use VOIP and tell the sqd leader that a big bunch of nubs is heading for *insert location* and that he'll get a juicy UAV if he listens. Works wonders half the time, other half, just warn them that you will drop arty on their asses. Works surprisingly well, especially when on the carrier. ;-)

The first thing I do as a squad leader is get to the what I think is the most important gray flag on a map and capture it. The very next thing I do is hit T then request orders.

If you don't think squad leaders listen to anything, try being one and asking for orders from your commander. I would say 80% of the time I am ignored, but the 20% of the time I do get orders our team almost always wins.

I know the commander can see everything I can't, and should know where my squad is needed most. I even drop everything to go from the front back to our main base or back base to stop it from being captured if the commander asks. As a squad leader, if you do this once, I guarantee you any supplies, uav's or artillery you call will come to you if available.

BTW, I'm one of those squad leaders who asks for artillery on bases that no one is in. I don't know no one is in them, but I do know there are probably mines and c4 all over the place a quick arty strike will clear the way for my squad to roll in. And if someone happens to spawn there because the enemy commander see's us coming, they will either die in the barage or find all their vehicles destroyed.

                              errr 2 questions....

                              1) who gave you the title of expert? your mom?

                              2) what makes you an expert? the fact that you actually got to be commander? the most worthless and annoying role in the game.

so basically you want to tell other people how to play, right? hahahahaha

Because people that proclaim themselves as 'experts', 'aces', '1337' etc usually tend to act like there is nothing more for them to learn and know more/better than anyone else. Which also leads to them being very ****ed off when someone shows them up with something new.

Right on lol, I feel pretty much the same way about pubs. Only time I am ever concerned about being serious, is in a match on CAL or some other league, otherwise I am just trying to get some self gratification or humour out of what I am doing.
