i think that the commander can really help the team alot, depite what other people say, and most mature gamers listen to the commander, the ones who dont usaully are little 14 yr old kids you are all rebelish and think its kewl to do what ever they want and not lsiten to commanders/sqaud leaders orders. and look at real life if you didnt follow your CO's orders you might be courtmarshed or worse.

i got most of my 7000+ commander pts by doing nothing. same thing with how i got my basic and veteran commander badge and staff officer ribbon. just applied as commander, page up to accept and watched TV (or ate).

i've been commander for over 40+ hours and here's what i've noticed - the only time a commander can really make or break a team is when he's commanding in karkand. in all other maps, like zatar wetlands or songua stalemate, you can do nothing as commander and your team will still win. they don't really need you in those maps. but in karkand, they do. they need you to arty the tanks, spot the sneaking snipers/spec ops, etc.

If I am commander and the squads are self sufficeint and the squad leader is ordering his own team about then I leave them alone, that's the way it should be IMO.

I hate nothing more than a commander who spams me orders just because he can. Especially dumb ones who order a squad of medics/support/assault to go and repair arty.

Imagine a place where teamwork was not only encouraged, but enforced. Where you had 60 seconds to join a squad or you would be auto-kicked. Where attacking UCB's and bunnyhopping quickly got you kicked. Where following the chain of command, from commander down, was enforced by admins. Where there were no issues of players fighting over planes or helos, because to use them you had to join a special "helo" or "jets" squad. Where 90% of the players used VOIP. Where real squad tactics could be used effectively, and teamwork was apparent in every effort of both teams. Where intentional teamkilling was completely non-existant. Now imagine this was a public server, run by adults, and highly admined.

Read my post? And that's just when they stopped listening to my orders. Could you imagine if I also stopped giving artillery, UAV, and supplies? Oh, and BTW, that's called stat padding, but thanks for telling me so I'll remember to not be impressed by your global score.

Even more annoying than disobediant squads is this scenario... for example

You have a very experienced squad that plays together every day .. you decide to play some mec c4 chopper bombing on mashtuur city

you own usmc very hard 2 rounds in a row on a 64 man server by stealing / bombing the hawk and tanks infantry constantly your squad makes expert explosives ordinanace both rounds ......

after 2 rounds the blue noobs see that you can score 150+ points a round as pilot of the C4 bomber chopper so they spend the whole round teamkilling you for the chopper they didnt care about 2 rounds ago fly off alone with no squad and jump on top of the mosque or crash into a tree ... Mec now looses by 100 + tickets

Lone wolf players with no mic should not even be allowed to get into the transport chopper yet alone fly it

I find this to be a huge problem ruining the game at the moment. I try to stick with the leader of the squad as much as possible, but sometimes that just leaves me and him/her. Another big problem that I noticed is, most people don't use the mic...

Hell, I don't even bother ordering squads anymore. All they ever do even with orders is rush the closest flag anyway(doesn't help I play Karkand all the time.) I like being commander but SL's are just to damn thickheaded to listen anymore... Oh well, I can live with raining down death from above anyway. I just wish SL's would learn the commander is there to HELP. The last time someone actually asked me for something was like a month ago... They just expect us to what they want but heres news for them we don't so ASK. Okay, there's my rant.

Commander is a no win situation. If you team starts losing, there's vote kick for commander....whether it's his fault or not. If you win, the team won in spite of the commander....no credit given no matter how well the commander does.

Like the previous poster stated....get commander and eat and watch tv

Don't give up hope because not everyone listens. You have to help the cause and keep trying. One thing that a commander does do that annoys the hell out of me is when they use the "Spotted Infantry" message for EVERY SOLDIER ON THE MAP. I don't mind spotting snipers and vehicles, but it just gets annoying.

No offense but I don't like being team switched. I then form a squad. Usually no one joins my squad but thats cool. I do hate when Commanders send me so many f-ing orders, or spam the radio with "Enemy Infantry spotted" "Enemy Tank spotted" "Enemy Cow spotted" That I can hear the Battle and I can't hear people sneaking up on me.

I once Tked a commander because he wouldn't shut up and let me listen to my surroundings. Immature? Yes...Fullfilling O yeah.

But I have Hardly...maybe 3 times...run into a commander that not only issues sensable orders...not attack the far flag on foot that will take 5 mins to get their...but doesn't yack the air waves.
