I just wanted to say thanks also to my fellow brothers and sisters in Arms who are serving this great nation at home an abroad. It has been an honor to servce as member of the Air Force for 14 years and wouldn't trade a day of it to do something else. I'm heading to Iraq in 6 months and am proud to do it.

I also want to say thanks to my dad (Americal division, Vietnam), and both my Grandfathers ( US Army and US Navy WWII), and also to my friends and neighbors who are on the fields of battle right now away from home.

The New Jersey was a very special ship. All our Battleships were something special. I'm saddened that our Navy has gone to Aegis Cruisers in the role that used to be held by the big guys but I certainly understand that the modern Navy needs more flexibility. There is just nothing quite like seeing a Battleship gliding through the water. I was privileged to have been able to use the USS New Jersey to call in naval gunfire on an exercise in 1984. From over the horizon come the shells and it sounds like nothing you've ever heard as they pass overhead. All I could think at the time was "Dear God, thank you for not giving our enemies ships like those". I could not imagine having that targetted at me.... or anywhere near me. The concussion that you feel when those rounds hit shakes the earth.

as someone already said, the honor of serving your country is enougn thanks. i love what i do and wouldnt give it up for anything!
