    M95 v.s. M24

I'm new to BF2, Just started playing 2 days ago, and I am about to unlock my first weapon. I have become quite fond of the Sniper kit, and seem to be doing very well at it. I have heard that the M95 is less accurate than the M24 and I am wondering if this is a wise unlock. What can you tell me about this with your experience? Are we talking about extreme one pixel enemy long ranges, or is their a noticable difference?
Also, when (if) it is unlocked, can I pick some how which riffle I want to use, or once it is unlocked, is it my only riffle?

Thanks for all your help and advice.

First off, try the search function, lots of related threads will apear. I like my M95, seems better than the M24 for me. Of course I don't use the sniper kit too often though. Maybe a more experienced sniper will chime in.

its JUST practice ... both can kill in one shot, and both are extremly accurate.
the only reason y i like the m95 a bit more than the m24 is that it can shoot threw glass, like in a chopper or jet

Thats all I really needed to know, it hits where you put the crosshairs. It was most likely just a stupid rumor. They made it sound like the M95 rarely hits where you intended it to. I figured I could get accuate info here. Thanks.

            Re: M95 v.s. M24

I've been practicing with the M95 also. I feel better with the m24 though. The M24 definitely seems to be more accurate at longer ranges.

The M95 would be a good replacement for the MEC/China sniper rifles. But they also have some good qualities.

Rarely do you get the chance to snipe someone behind glass, but when you do, its a good weapon to have.

There was a link detailing the differences between the rifles on one of these threads. The M24 and M95 has the same damage. But the M95 will pierce glass in the vehicles. Its just that the cross hairs on the M95 makes it hard to get a really long range shot.

M95 is louder and can give your position away faster though.

                Re: M95 v.s. M24

Might be worth having a look at some older posts via the search function as suggested above:) . I have the m95 and I like it but it is slightly less accurate on average than the m24 (imho) but has more power (appears to anyway). It's debatable which rifle is better (m95 vs m24) but the m95 is certainly better than the mec or chinese rifles.

Re picking up weapons you get whatever weapon that you pick up whether or not you have it unlocked but you only get it until you die then you have to select from your current available choices. It is a good way to 'try before you buy'

srry just re read your question, you can choose EITHER the standard weapon or the unlocked once it is available, just click the wee up and down arrow next to the weapon in the kit selection screen to swap between the standard and uinlocked rifles

                  Both have their good qualities

M24 is more of a headshot sniper. It is very easy to kill stationary targets with this weapon and you can fire faster than you can with the M95. However, the M24 doesn't do as much damage as the M95 so you will need to pop 2-3 rounds into the enemy if you don't get a headshot.

M95 -- brings the guy down to 2 bars of life regardless of the armor he's wearing and where he is hit (1-2 pistol rounds is enough to take off his remaining life). M95 is also good if you're camping a base where helicopters and jets spawn (can snipe out the pilots).

I prefer M95 at closer ranges simply because if I fire at a moving target, I can aim for his centre of mass and kill him alot easier than if I tried headshotting him with M24.

                    Re: M95 v.s. M24

m95 is a solid choice if you plan on idly shooting enemy helicopters or guys in vehicles. The m95 also has a bullet drop, usually only at extreme ranges, but still. Though the m24 is pinpoint accurate, and is still largely accurate while scoped in and moving. Additionally a faster reload, rate of fire, and less noticeable bullet drop, identical damage to the m95 on unarmored opponents. Overall it becomes a matter of preference, I personally like the m95 just because its so satisfying to hit someone.

Anyhow as for accuracy of the sniper rifles, I do find that even the slightly greater deviation of the m95 is quite noticeable, especially when aiming at say half a head that is exposed at a moderate distance. I've wasted several full clips trying to peg the guy, even when compensating for bullet drop.

The m95 and the m24 do practically the same amount of damage.

http://ubar.bf2s.com/kits.php#m95 also has some good info on the guns.

In short the m95 is half as accurate, twice as loud, and slower than the M24 for basically the same damage, to soldiers. However, being able to shoot through glass and cause more damage to unarmored vehicles is quite advantageous. The m95 also a great weapon because you can use it when you are Chinese, MEC, or USMC.

The M95 looks better, sounds better and is great once you get the hang of it. Just unlock it and try it, it's a great unlock.
