        Yeah Dude....

You pick up on so many of the points that pee me off about bad gunners, especially, ...

When you see an enemy choppo.....manouver for a suprise attack, and ur gunner starts shooting with the god dammed machine gun...WTF?? IDIOTS!

I was playing with a guy the other day who was of a decent rank....and he kept doing this...never shooting the rockets, constanly shootin tanks + choppers with the chain gun...so i land in a safe place, and get his attention, and explain that if you click the right mouse button you can shoot controled missiles....and he just writes back "BULL****"...... i was like "jesus man....honestly, TRY IT" we flew around for a further 5 mins or so and suddenly he shot a rocket! (not at anything but he fired a rocket none the less) and then the screen was filled with him saying "SWEEEEEET" "OMG SWEEEET".... i checked his stats on BF2S.com....and he had spent over 30hrs in the chopper, and still didn't know that it had a missile in gunner position...WHAT A DIV!

Re: Chopper Pilot's Guide to being a GREAT gunner

i already knew basically everything you put up there. but i HATE it, when i have a pilot, who can not line me up (thinks the "gunner position" is the tv missile aim), and just sits there expecting me to shoot a camera. i especially hate when you have a pilot that thinks he is awesome, but he cant aim your cameras for **** (aims like 50 ft. below/above/next to targer), and then when you die he blames it on you... or when the pilot flys around at full speed expecting you to gun every person down, only to have him tell you that you suck at gunning...

MOST of all... i HATE.....HATE.... when the pilot has NO idea what is going on around him. like if i spot a chopper out on the side (and do it multiple times to get his attention) that he cant see, only to have him give me a worse angle, and still not know about him, i see missles flying past us and ****...and he still doesnt realise... and i type "TURN THE **** AROUND DUDE!".... but still, doesnt realize, and then, we eventually die, and hes like "WTF KILLED US?? u suck at gunning!"

and i also laugh when pilots dont have their priorities set straight...

ie. a pilot sees a ground troop, but i see an attack chopper at our side coming at us (pilot doesnt) i spot him like crazy until the pilot turns to see him... only to have him TURN BACK TO THE GROUND TROOPER!

haha... maybe i should make a "gunners guide to not being a retarded pilot"

Good info man. Where are all of you guys when I'm online:) I seem to always have either an inefficient pilot, or inefficient gunner. You have to be effective at being both a pilot and gunner on the helo to know what needs to be done to make a deadly gunship team. I can't stress enough to the pilots out there that all of the destructive power comes from the front seat. I sucks when you have a pilot that just swoops in to do a strafing run with his rockets. A good gunner is your best friend, and will keep you alive in an encounter with an enemy attack helicopter.

One good tip I'd like to add is to make an announcement to your team to spot enemy armor, choppers, and especially mobile aa for you so that you can get the jump on them. The enemy will learn to fear and loathe you, and think you are either psychic or cheating lol.

I know I have a good gunner when I end the map with less than 10 kills, and he has 50+. You're right, the front seat is a mobile Tank Gunner, and I'm just his escort.

good info and i have to agree that it takes a good pilot so that the gunner can do his work, like not flying by at high speed scraping the ground and expecting you to gun

Ya know, even I'm guilty of that sometimes, and I don't mind a gunner saying, "Hey dude, a lil altitude would be nice", hehe.

Re: Chopper Pilot's Guide to being a GREAT gunner

Most insightful. I tend to stay away from vehicles, especially aircraft. Mainly cuz I don't know how to use em. I once started up a chopper, then flew it into the ocean

The empty server thing is a good idea though. I will try this.

                      thanks for the guide.

Yeah that is the best idea, a empty server then graduate to playing SP vs BOTS then take on the MP scene. I remember one time I was in SP and happened to jump in a chopper and the dude was mad that I didnt pick him up. I told him I can only get it in the air and fly around and that trying to land to pick him up would be a disaster. But now I love flying the choppers and even the planes too.

Agreed. What I usually do is rotate back and forth with the person, i fly one round, they gun, then vice-versa. Everytime I have told a pilot 'your nose was too low, I couldn't get a shot' guess what happens ? Nose up, missles away! The only people I have ever had problems from are those people that like to whore the chopper for themselves (no gunner) and will deliberately fly into a mountain just to get rid of you...I have yet to figure out people that do that...cause you are gonna be mincemeat if you go up against another chopper with a gunner...

Been messing around with the choppers, boy is that tough to get used to. It took me like 5 tries just to not nosedive into the ground lol!

The Jets actually cause major tearing for me - no clue why since I am running 6800GT SLI.

hey can any1 plaz tell me how to guide that tv rocket?! is it controlled by mouse or keyboard? i must have fired that thing at least 30 or 40 times alreay, and i never managed to hit anything... also, it takes a very long time from when i press fire to when the thing shoots of, and before i can ever steer it, the thing has already hit the ground. i would appreciate some tips. though i like being the pilot betta! cheerios

                                In it's simple form:
                                Place crosshair on Target.
                                Click FIRE
Adjust crosshair as necessary, and click FIRE to readjust missile path. (Clicking fire just inputs new trajectory)
                                Repeat as necessary.
