[quote=SupUnd]I'd say there could be skill in bunny hopping. I mean, there are bad bunny hoppers and there are those who can practically do marix moves with their character. I just think it looks stupid, can potentially exploint weaker systems and servers, and is entirely unrealistic.quote]

yes it is stoopid and it a no skill requirement for 203/gp25/gp30 users

it doesn't take much for some guy to pound his space bar again and again then lob another grenade close to where u are

but as we know close only counts in hand grenades and horse shoes and most bunny hoppers have the horse shoe in their behinds

how about driving to an enemy base solo in a tank, and you see your buddy get downed next to you and jump out as an AT guy is trying to blow your tank, run with the shock paddles to your buddy, under fire, as you see the guy, who killed your buddy, with a remote for the c4s in hands ready to suicide to get a kil, and run at him and shock him to death, still being able to revive your buddy. then jump back in clearing all the AT guys, so a few humvees, and a BH can come and help capture the post, and finaly take the post? is that any skill?

I'd say skill is about having time. Knowing when to attack and when to leave the armour infront of you alone instead of wasting your ammo of your M203 grenade launcher on its solid armour.

It all depends on your class really...

I'll go easy on you since it was your first post and obviously a kid.

Yes not dying is a skill...but the rest fall under intelligence. Skill is consistently using a weapon the way it is designed to use it. The rest of your points come with experience and there are a lot of people that have experience but have no skill.

              1b) hiding/acknowledge when you outguned
1c) killing a sqaud of ppl by your self, using your primary weapon first, pistol second, and knife third

              2) sucessfully defending a flag as a troop against a sqaud

              3) taking advantage of a distracted tank/apc (with c4)

I just think that the easist thing to do is die, therefore the hardest objective to accomplish is surviving which would require the most skill

stop saying alls fair in war. bf2 is a game.

It's not that this game is unbalanced. It's the gameplay that people don't like... as far as I see.
tanks are fine. nade launchers are lame.

the problem is two fold: too many ppl need to rely on unbalanced parts of the game in order to have any chance and will rabidly defend what they are doing as skillful AND too many ppl throwing around the terms lame and whore so much that they have lost all context and now the aforementioned lamers can always defend being lame by quoting some idiot as saying something like 'tank whore.'

                  Re: So, what takes "skill"?

because its lame. taking advantage of unbalanced parts of the game isnt skill.
No, taking advantage of unbalanced pieces of the game is being a teamplayer, because you never know if the other team will use these to their advantage or not. If, for example, you refuse to use the n00b tube but the enemy team does not, this only allows a bigger imbalance to be created between the two teams.

The term whore shouldn't be used as an insult unless someone is, for example, someone is using a tank even though the team needs men on the ground. In a real-life military EVERYONE is a whore (yeah, I know, it's a game, but why aren't you guys bashing the REAL USMC?). They are specially trained to be whores. Pilots never train themselves to use an AT weapon, field medics never train themselves how to snipe, etc. And I know war is not meant to be balanced like a game is, but if the enemy can be whores too, where's the imbalance?

                    Re: So, what takes "skill"?

Everyone here knows what skill is - stop trying to bs like you don't. You know skill when something happens that impresses you or was unlikely. There is skill with every weapon and vehicle in the game. I'll provide a few examples, all of which I've seen and one or two I've done myself:

Skill: (Anything that most people find hard to do)
Winning a pistol duel in close combat (which may have started with normal weapons) without being put to low health yourself
Killing anything (that you're actually aiming at) in a jet with the cannons - especially infantry
Taking out an undamaged tank by yourself with AT when the tank knows where you are and isn't distracted
Taking out a boat / fav moving perpendicular to you beyond 100 m with AT
Hitting an enemy jet with the AA (though this is still half luck)
Turning a corner, being surprised by 3 enemies and taking them all out with a single clip or a rifle/smg without dying
You're in an APC, it gets hit by an AT round, you back up, your engineer passenger gets out to fix and gets shot. You, as a medic, jump out of the apc, heal the engineer and kill the person that shot him.

No or Low Skill: (Anything most people can do on a regular basis)
Killing infantry at a spawn point with the SU34
                    Killing infantry with a tank/apc
Killing infantry while prone at a distance with an m16/g36c and the like
Jihad Jeep kills (unless you drove it off a cliff to the spawn below (see Kubra Dam), ejected, parachuted and detonated before you were in the blast range

There are lots of examples I'm sure you all have more. But just because something doesn't require skill, doesn't mean its not a valid thing to do.

Cos peolpe get owned and they have to jusify that by making up these little rules. This weapon is cheap etc. It's because they are to crap to come up a defense against the weapon and contantly get owned by it.

                        Re: So, what takes "skill"?

Skill is used as a point of differentiation between the majority of players and individuals who are better than the majority at certain tasks.

If everyone can fire a noob tube at their feet (which most can) and kill a nearby opponent, then it's not really skill - it's a rudimentary task associated with playing BF2 that anyone with a mouse can perform. Same with sitting in a Blackhawk.

Those who can hit someone with the grenade launcher from, say, 200m away, have skill because they're exercising proficiency at doing something that not everyone can do.

Skill is the ability to excel beyond what is basic, common, and achievable by most.

Skill is being able to convert, in your head, meters to feet.

                                Hmmm...

First off, I wanna' start by saying there is nothing wrong with the M203 (Minus the fact that it detonates a little too quickly); don't even know how the term "Noob Tube" got started. Hell, who broke down the term "Newbie" into "Noob"... and why!?

...but anyways, I am a die-hard assault fanatic, and I use mah' M203 to nail anyone outside of the range of mah' rifle (Snipers, Anti-Tank Snipers, Spec-Ops Snipers...Pretty much every other major class that has a better ranged weapon). Let's face it, that's what it's for right? It kinda' confuses me how me and mah' fellow "Tube" brethern are labeled as "Newbies" for having mastered the art of quick distance calculations and predictions in regards to the M203. Sorry, but, if I'm hitting ya' at over 150m consistantly with the M203, that's skill... I would like to see half of the people on this forum do it with the same gusto and flair as mah'self. Better yet ,don't try, cause ya' can't! Ha'!?

Ok ok. Back on point. Pretty much EVERYTHING in the game besides Bunny Hopping (Yes, even dolphin diving because it takes some type of rythme) takes skill. Bunny Hopping is just mashing your keyboard in order to take advantage of a weakness that directly impacts the game from outside the common elements. Same with Dolphin' diving, true, but some rythme is involved with that to truely be effective. I think that about does it, definition of skill as to Battle Field 2. Everything but Bunny Hopping. Copyrighted!!
