    GOOD EFFING GOD, NO!!!
    I deplore AA, Quake, etx.

One would be wise to not make such assumtions!

Believe me... I'm a strategy whore.
This is the element that drew me into BF2. I play because of the interesting strategic aspects... like the UAV, Supply, and Artillery.
These are NOT realistic elements, but they are stratigic elements.

This is why I'll check out the mod, but cautioned against going overboard on the realism.
I don't like one shot kills, a blind/usless commander, or long wait times for respawning, because they just aren't fun.

It's a game, after all is said and done.
One should take creative liberties with realism in the name of the almighty FUN FACTOR!

THe game is a ton of fun... but it CAN turn into a sniper fest if you don't watch out. Sniper rifles will 1 shot kill to the torso, or head. Which is obviously realistic...

THe game is fun. It's different, but not THAT much different. I would CERTAINLY say it's worth the D/L and time to check out.. even if you don't like it....

i just played it and its nothing special...several things annoy me:
        - in chopper or any vehicle u only have first person view..this sucks a lot in helo with gunner cuz his heads right in the way
-the blood that tells u ur hit isnt a great indictor of how hurt u are
-lac of kill indicatorsis a little pointless- ppl just TAB check the scoreboard anyway
-no xhairs is a cool idea but gets really annoying in CQB

and in general its not that much different..so it doesn make up for it being unranked IMO

That's fine, many people won't enjoy it much. It wasn't designed for everyone. If you dislike many of the points in my original post with vanilla BF2 then you will most probably like PRMM with a bit more time though.

Personally, I really like all those changes that you don't enjoy and I think it makes the game better. I think not being able to change to another view in vehicles is a very good addition and balances them out nicely. I also think not knowing who you killed or if you even killed anyone does wonders for gameplay. It stops random nade spamming as you'll never be sure of its effect and it also puts a stop to the "haha, I pwned you noob" attitude that seems prevelent in BF2. Now, you only get the statisfaction of knowing you've helped in the attack or defense of an area and this helps to create a more team focused game IMO.

I'm not sure exactly. For me I installed and clicked on the icon and I was in. I suggest you make a post over at the PRMM forums. www.realitymod.com

Re: Salvation is here! A must read for players who like realism!

This mod, in conjunction with AAS, is a blast to play.
(Well, even without AAS, it's fun, but AAS solves the problem of the flag carousel, and it concentrates the battles at certain points. It's awesome stuff- you never have to go far to find a firefight and you don't have to worry about someone flanking you and capping the point farthest from the frontlines.)

Since the release of PRMM .2, I haven't gone back to vanilla BF2. I wouldn't necessarily call myself a fan of realism, but I just hate how it takes 5 shots or more to kill someone in vanilla BF2, or how it takes 3 AT rockets to kill a tank. Even in BFV and BF1942, it took 3 shots at most to kill someone. The bleeding is a nice touch, and the stamina system definitely gets rid of the bunnyhoppers- I haven't seen one yet.

As for having no ranking system, I'm pretty indifferent about it, since I think the ranking system saps the fun out of the game. But there's an alternative BF2 ranking system that's currently out and I would urge server ops to take a look and possibly give it a try. It looks very promising, and it may attract players who are turned off by not having ranks and badges. While I'm not thrilled with ranks, I'd be willing to settle with this since it could attract more players to mods and unranked servers in general. I haven't seen any PRMM servers running this ranking system yet, but I'd like to eventually.

Anyway, I can't stress how fun this mod is. It takes BF2 and improves on it. Just download it and give it a try. It doesn't conflict with vanilla BF2 if you wanna play that and PRMM at the same time.

Except the one time I tried it, I was USMC on Oman and the MEC were pinned back to their UCB. It turned in to the normal BF2 smacktardness of the USMC spawn camping the MEC for the remainder of the round.

I tried flying the F-35 but didn't wanna spawn camp so I was kinda limited to just bombing the odd neutral flag. Then I tried to fly on the Litte Bird a couple times. First time, the pilot crashed on the deck. Second time, some MEC AT guy was camping the carrier and blew us up as soon as we got airborne. So, yea, just like reality, the server had some smacktards on it.

Didn't really get a feel for infantry warfare due to the circumstances.. but I'll try to remember to test out the mod sometime again.

Oh, I did not like the fact that the damage meters and such were removed. I mean, in a real jet, I'd have warnings and such going off telling me what's wrong and how serious the problem is. Or I could look at my tank and see if the tread was falling off.

I also drove around in a tank for a bit.. I didn't know the difference between HEAT and SABOT rounds at the time.. but both were pretty willing to kill infantry

Don't like that the kill messages have gone away either. I looked through the PRMM forums but couldn't find an explanation for that in my limited searching.

I like it, but it can be a bit confusing. For example:

Know that annoying BF2 problem where sounds sometimes loop? I thought I was getting that problem after I sustained a hit. I'd groan and the screen would flash red, even tho' noone was shooting at me! Took me a while to figure out I was bleeding.:hmm:

It would help if there was a health bar.

Plus, I looked around on site and on my HD, and couldn't find a list of the changes, so I don't know how this "M24 zoom" feature is meant to work. (Though it's much more lethal than before, ) Anyone have a clue as to the key assignments or changes?

Re: Salvation is here! A must read for players who like realism!

                            For the praisers:

Kudos to you guys for creating and promoting a mod... a GOOD mod, for that matter. This is how the gaming industry truly should be. If not BF2, look at the Source community for Half Life 2 or the Quake3 code community for Call of Duty. The reality mod for CoD was very good. Challenging, realistic effects, more emphasis on caution and skill than twitch and "pwnage". And the beauty of it? You can go back to vanilla <insert game name> any time you want. Don't listen to the trolls and hecklers. Go play how you want, and always promote good advancements.

                            To the naysayers:

I still, to this day, cannot understand why some players want to go to a forum topic and **** on someone's parade. If you don't like the mod, just say so and be on your way. If you haven't tried the mod and are just saying "no, it won't work, it's ghey, stfu", you have no idea how much of an idiot you just portrayed yourself. How can you dislike something you've never tried? Past experiences? They don't count. Word of mouth? A half-way decent excuse, but you don't know how you would like it.

You see, mods are the future. They are evolution. Even without EA's or DICE's bankroll, modders are fueled by something more tangible--passion. A mod team is more committed to making a good mod (or fixing the original's screwups) than the original code writers. They're not on an unrealistic schedule by marketing guys who wouldn't know what it takes to make a game if it swiftly kicked them in the nuts. They're not rolling into work at slave hours for slave wages just to hammer out a mediocre product so they can make their mortgage payments. Modders are gamers with talent, and they listen to the community more than DICE or EA ever will (more so to EA). They are taking time out of their already busy schedules and lives to bring you an experience that a gaming conglomerate could care less about.

So take the advice of the thread host and his advocates: try it out. It's free, it's available, and it's good. If you don't like it, switch back to vanilla. No one will be the wiser, and you can always say you at least tried it. But coming in here and saying "feature X won't work, it sucks" and "feature Y sounds gay" and "feature Z appeals to chopper/tank/jet whores" is just ignorant and presumptuous.
