What amazes me is how the mod team has managed to correct things which dice still hasn't fixed. The AA is a perfect example.

I really don't think I could go back to vanilla BF2 again.

Yah, Ironx I know what you mean. I can't stand vanilla BF2 now with its bunny hoppers aand the fact that it takes like 20 bullets to kill someone. Bleh...

After playing this, and games like DoD:S where people die in a few shots, its hard to go back to vanilla. I could care less about rank/medals anymore. I got all the unlocks I wanted after the last patch. Bring on the mods!

ppl still like to play on ranked servers... about 95% of the bf2 playing community.

Yeah, that's certainly a big reason for it. I've always wondered if the ranked system would be a mod killer.

It guess it shows that people really are more concerned with collecting online stats than playing a game for fun. Actually, that's probably a bit unfair. They play the game for the fun of collecting stats, would be a more accurate statement I guess.

I got kind of hooked on stats for a breif period too but when it comes to correcting issues, which IMO were game breakers, vs. stats - I'll take the fixed issues anyday! PRMM has made the game far more balanced and rewarding to play and I fail to see how a bunch of medals and numbers on a screen can compete with a balanced game.

It's like this for all of the mods. In your BF2 menu, you can go to COMMUNITY -> CUSTOM GAMES and you will find the mod switcher.

Also, if you are playing the PRMM mod and try join a server for regular BF2, you will automatically be switched.

Re: Salvation is here! A must read for players who like realism!

I'd rather play a mod such as this one that gives me pleasure rather than hunting points with ranktards..

I played desert combat for ages, and if I recollect there was no ranking system for bf1942. I started playing it because it was fun, and it wasn't as cartoonish as vanilla bf. Maybe that's an illusion made by the modern setting of DC, but I kept playing it because I was getting better and more skilled. And that was the whole point of it. Taking down enemy fighters and dodging flak at the same time... wreaking havok with the miniguns on the littlebird while doing a barrel roll. Placing a round from a tank into the cockpit of a blackhawk. It gave you such control that you just couldn't quit. Going back to vanilla bf felt like someone gave you a speed restriction of 30km/h on all vehicles, local anaesthetic in your arms and a couple of small rocks to throw at your enemy. What made me stop was that I was recruited as an admin for a large swedish ISP's gameservers. That definitly takes the fun out of the game. So unless you're in desperate need of a power trip, don't become admin. Mods or not, it'll spoil the fun.

Original bf2 is following the bf1942 standard. Fun before realism. Arcade before simulation. And that places you in some really unfair situations. Like when you fire off 50 rounds at a guy, he's in the middle of your iron sights.. and you hit 2 rounds. Or when bunnyhopping or counterattacking a sniper with a AT-rocket becomes valid tactics. That sort of thing really makes me want to trash my keyboard. If this mod grows, I won't have to.

I really hope this mod develops a strong hardcore community.

Mods are corny, They(whoever they are) may be able to program, that doesn't provide them with payroll nor the resources to really modify the game enough for me to give a flying fu%%. Ta each is own though

Then you have your right to stay in vanillia anygame but POINT in fact is moddinig is what keeps a game going and fun LONG after it is dead I know several games still going from 1993 to 1995 respectivly when they were made and still have a huge following because of Mods.

if i download it, can it be taken off at any time, because some of my friends dont want to get it, so if i want to play with them i ll have to disable it. like artnez said, can it be switched on and off?

It doesnt have to be "switched" off.

All you do is select the mod you want to play in the custom games menu and click active. The game will reload with the mod. If you want to go back, go to custom games and select vanilla bf2 and hit activate.

Whenever you open BF2, it wont load the mod, unless you use their shortcut (or add some parameters to the original bf2 shortcut but i wont get into that)

It seems like this is a fairly common idea so to make things clear -

Mods will not prevent you from playing BF2 as you always have. You can keep both installed and play either vanilla BF2 or a mod at anytime. It's as simple as doing what artnez says and changing through the cutom games menu.

                            I have played it...for 10 min.
I like "the Silent Heroes mod kinda"when you get shot youre screen turns red/dizy.
                            No bunny jump=ok
                            And some other interesting stuff

                            But.....
You dont see who you kill/killed you.
                            No health bar....
Keep in mind that the game also must be fun to play, that option is something I dont like. Realisme fine but dont be to
                            is my opinion.

                            Keep up the good work

Man I know EXACTLY what you guys mean regarding stats.

I'm seriously wondering how some of thse people played BF1942 WITHOUT the stats. I played BF1942 for years and loved it--especially mods like FH, DC, EOD, etc. BF2 has transformed alot of this community into a bunch of stat whores. Its true. Its true.

Also, where are people getting the idea that mods won't let them play regular BF2? I guess alot of you are new to mods, which is perfectly fine. So don't worry, PRMM won't mess up your regualr BF2 and you can uninstall it if your don't like it.
