Hahahaha, EA will never, ever make an exception to their license agreement.

      EVER

This is EA we're talking about, not "Local Joe's PC software oh and we're really nice people too".

Also, we may have the technology but we're limited by what the engine allows us to do.

      Bud.

Also: User created content in official patches???

Someone has been snacking on wall candy.

The Line of Fire mod is doing a gore side to their total converstion mod.

Although no screenies of it yet, I run the mod and have been working on such a effects etc. My msn picture is am image of blood exploding out of a bullet wound to the head with a desert eagle.

So, anyone interested in helping work on a mod that does this kinda thing. Be sure to contact me. brendan2064@hotmail.com for msn, or email lofinfo@gmail.com for more information. The site is at: http://www.bf2.co.nz/lofmod/

And, to add to it, i have made a suicide vest, complete with fireball, bit of metal, body parts, and blood. Most of those ideas mentioned at the start of this thread are working on being implemented into this conversion mod for bf2. Be sure to check it out and help if you can provide talent for the team.

Well well well seems like somepeople don't know what they are talking about "That is not possible"

A mod like this would use your graphics card processor and you can fine tune the settings low, medium, high, percentage, etc.

"""so there is a totalbf2 map pack but when I tried to connect to the server I got a connection failed or server does not exsist is there another ip for the server"""

I don't believe anything you have described is possible, except perhaps for blood spraying when someone is shot. Even then, it wouldn't be possible to make blood stain the surfaces surrounding it.
Sorry to p1ss on your bonfire Mr Cheerful, but you don't believe it's possible? That really demonstrates the extent of your knowledge on the subject doesn't it? You think scenery can have bullet holes and other damage, dust spraying up etc, and you think blood stains would be impossible?!

I say, go for it. It would be an immense project and I wont hold my breath for it any time soon, but it would be fantastic if it was done.

What the hell did you think I just said you moron, I said puffs of blood spraying from a wound WOULD be possible, but I said that blood STAINING surfaces would not be. Show me ANYTHING that proves that a blood puff from a bullet hitting a soldier can then go on to STAIN A SURFACE RED like that guy was suggesting.

In the meantime, go to hell.

Go back and read what you have written and realise that 90% of what you are saying is simply not possible and then realise that you are one of those people.

So the bullet holes left in buildings and on the floor are not existant in your mind? How about the scorch marks on the floor from missiles? Why is that any different from overlaying a blood stain
                    ?

Again, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about, so kindly keep your "facts" to yourself if you have nothing constructive to add.

Why wouldn't it be possible for blood to stain a surface many games already implement that now...

Are you ok, you need to play more videogames...

You might be right they probably don't exsist because his graphics card can't display them...

                        BIGGEST ROLLEYES EVER

I will explain this simply and clearly for you so that you can understand:

Bullet holes and scorchmarks currently go:
                        Projectile -> object -> bullet hole/scorchmark

There is no way to do:
Projectile -> object -> blood/oil puff -> stain on nearby object

I love it how you people get all antsy when I kill you dreams like I just kicked a puppy or something, when will you realise that BF2's engine is not comparable to say, the source engine.

Believe me, I would LOVE to be proved wrong, I would love for this game to be highly moddable, but it simply ISN'T.

You are seriously suggesting that simply because something is possible in one game under one engine, that it's possible under other games of around the same generation?

I have come across some DUMB arguments in my time, but this is by far the stupidest.

BF2'S ENGINE IS VERY LIMITED IN TERMS OF WHAT MODDERS CAN DO, THIS IS NOT THE SOURCE ENGINE. IF IT WAS NOT IMPLEMENTED IN THE ORIGINAL GAME IN SOME FORM THEN IT IS PROBABLY NOT POSSIBLE.

Imprint that statement in your mind, play a tape of yourself saying that over and over again as you sleep.

This game has absolutely RETARDED limitations when it comes to modding, things that absolutely should not be hard coded into the engine are.

As an example of a stupid limitation, it is impossible to create new homing missile targetting methods in this game. There are 4 targetting methods if I recall correctly: laser guided, heat guided, player guided and one other (I forget what it's called or what it does). It is impossible to add more.

Again, someone prove me wrong, Rex or Why!? or another accomplished, respected modder, come on here and tell me how wrong I am, I would love to be proved wrong in this case, but modders really are limited when it comes to BF2 and this is an example of one of the things it is impossible to do.

                            Re: Blood and Gore Mod

The bullet holes and blood spray and the like is possible. Getting blood to stain something is much more..tedious task.

I guess you could do it with a few options, somehow make the blood particles some kind of projectile with an end effect template which would be the blood. Then you'd need to code that blood to remain on the wall for x seconds. I guess another option is to track a player death through python, then somehow get the nearby materials within x/y/z position of the dead player, adn match a red stain to a certain material type nearby the players death.

These are all things i've just come up with then, so, i'm not sure if they will work. But it is something the LoF mod's been working on.

Even though we haven't got a, by my standards, huge amount of gore, it's still good fun to just run around, shooting people in the head and watching their head just snap back into a big wash of blood.
