Yes, I realize I'm generalizing and there are a lot of you out there who crave (like me) playing on a server where teamwork is the rule, not the exception.

But the majority of the players are still playing Quake. They want to take on the the whole army by themselves with the most devastating weapon they can get. Who cares what the TEAM needs, they only care about kills.

Gee great Rambo, your team lost, but you got 50 kills

Ever look at the top players' team scores? Not very impressive. It's like a 7-1 ratio of combat score to team score.

If my team score isn't at least equal or higher than my combat score, I feel like I haven't done my job. Hell, I'm a medic, my team score should be at least double my combat score.

If you're willing to punish for a TK, but not willing to SUPPORT your teammates when they need it, you should be playing some FPS game and not this one.

    /end of rant

First off, the reason I'm answering to that it's because your generalization. My background is Quake, I came to this game knowing nothing about it and I've worked my way up. Now I'm usually at the top of the list of my team for either combat and teamwork and many times both (I seriously hate to brag, but to make my point I needed to point that out). MOST of the time i'm not even looking at the score, just doing my duty and that's how I get my points. I'm not the only one. There's many people like me that understand the game, what's needed to win and by doing it, they get the points.
Don't generalize. If you see people doing too much of one activity (like spawn campign) because they want better scores with complete disregard of what the team really needs, it's because they're selfish idiots which any game is full of and that my friend, has nothing to do with playing quake.

the key to finding team work and "ggs" is server selection. some servers thrive on it, others care not. also use x-fire to get together with buddies you know are team work people (there have been threads on this within the last month or so). then, as a group you can hit a server and MAKE it a team work server. :)

we do it all the time. we also have a set bunch of servers we go to.

If you want your team to win killing bad guys actually isn't the main goal, capturing all the available flags is much more effective. So how do you manage this? Form one or more squads, get mobile, move out, stay alive as a group, going from one flag to another. Then watch the match end prematurely with tons of tickets still left by the losing side.

And kill people somewhere in there too.

Some people may be good FPS players, but are they good BF2 players? That's like night and day.

When I crave good teamwork I login to EQ2 and raid stuff with my guild. You don't win if you don't have good teamwork. MMPoRGs are nice sometimes, the grunt mentality is more absent and you have to think more through encounters to win.:)
          It's MMORPG, not MMPORG...

It is sad when you have been working your butt off in a round playing a support class (eng, med, supp) and you look at the final stat page and see the other 2 classes have 0's and no names in there. Neither team had support type players - how retarded and I cannot tell you how many times I have seen that happen.

The thing most people don't realize, if your using teamwork you will generaly get more kills. Your going to get more kills if you get revived by a squadmate or spawn at a your squadleader who is right at the enemy base b/c you wont have to walk all the way back where you were. And also, how many enemies can 1 man take out, compared to 6 squad members?

what im driving at is the guys with a large teamscore helped the guys with the good k/d ratios get those kills.
