Yea, I ahve a router as well and I usually get around 50 to 70 ping wise on most servers, I have a commerical router in my house but the http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...=0&dcaid=15890
is pretty good

in the options turn off the dynamic shadows. who needs them? having them off alows you to see alot clearer

A few things help...

Less the router (Yea your exposed to the web, but a software firewall will work whilst you play games).
Less the background programs. (expecialy AOL's AIM)
Less the downloads. (Important!)

Switch to wired if your using wireless.
make sure its not your PC bottlenecking. (Ethernet cards can be slow them selves.)

Maybe get the best internet connection that you can afford.
UPLOAD SPEED IS IMPORTANT!

well if your only viable option is to keep wireless, then get a faster one, you said youre running 11mbps... thats wireless B... you shouyld be on wireless G, its way faster than wireless b running at 11mbps.. I agree that wired is better, but if ur still gonna use wireless, it can be fine, u just need to get rid of the B and get G

Very easy to lower your ping. Some of the suggestions mentioned above are good. One program that I use that has helped me considerably both with Ping levels and bandwidth is Tuneup Utilities 2006. You can download it free and try it for 30 days. There is a configuration setting in this program that will optimize your TCP\IP settings as well as make a few registry tweaks that will increase your connection speed.

To help with your bandwidth:

- Delete any P2P programs that you have installed on your system i.e. Morphieus, Kazaa, Limewire. These programs can effect bandwidth.

- Start>Run>type in: MSCONFIG and then click the Startup tab, click the Disable all button. This will disable all surface startup items. There will still be some .exe that will start up. You can download 3rd party Security Task Managers at www.downloads.com to take care of the items that you do not see in the Task Manger.

- Clean up all the crap on your system i.e. %temp%, cache, active-x controls, spyware, malware etc...

- Defrag normally and run scan disk.

Tune up utilities 2006 should be all you need though to increase not only the over-all speed of your system but it should help with bandwidth issues as well.

damn, i got a wireless too, no wonder i get a connection problem on 2/5 of the servers i go to =(
