I have done that, but I made sure the unit was functioning before I blew the crate. Once I nade the crate I make sure to put it on chat, or tell the commander by voice that I am on the repairs and to save the crates unless they hit the stuff further away.

hmmm that definetly would work for me. I've never been to a server with maps lasting that long though. My question is, what should I be looking for in the game browser if I wanted to find one of those servers?

large maps 12, 20, 32 player max. Smaller numbers - longer map. They were supposed to make this impossible to do with the patch, but there are many servers out there.

I regularly play on the 32 player servers on the 64 player maps.

12-20 players on a 64 player map can take forever.

It really depends on how the teams do against each other as to how long the maps last.

Need to watch out for servers that set a max time limit of an hour or so. Some of them just put limits on maps like mishtar city, and zatar wetlands so that the bh whores don't have endless pts.

            Re: expert engineer badge

Someone accused shaft of collusion with the enemy team...this could be HALF true, unwittingly.

You see, since we now get points for blowing up enemy assets, could it be possible that the enemy spec ops were going for their Vet/Exp Explosives badges and willingly chose NOT to kill shaft(without his knowledge), so they can continue blowing up the assets for more points.

Let me present a "partial" analogy here: Op Clean Sweep, you are MEC and managed to work your way to the US helo area in the trees...you see the F-15 and have your AT rocket ready to blow it up. But you decide to wait until someone gets into it before destroying it. Why?

The same or similar logic can be applied to the enemies shaft encountered at the asset locations. Maybe they wanted him to fix it so THEY could rack up more points.

This does NOT require collusion from all parties, just one guy willing to wait and watch.

its easy (I just don't have the 100 hours)

spawn as a spec op in your own base
              blow up two assets
              commit suicide
              spawn as engineer and repair
              commit suicide
              spawn as spec op

keep doing this and you will get expert

(beware your commander will hate you so its best to do this when nobody is playing commander)

You maybe do this the best on a carier, because the enemy isn't around there most of the time and crates mostly fall into the water.

OK, it's realy dirty, but I think most of the people here will agree there are way more dirty things around in BF2, and EA just shouldn't of set the requirements so freaking high
Unfortunately i have to agree with this approach and, yes I am suitably ashamed to say so. I got my vet engy badge on Sharqi at the TV tower. Fortunately some guy was camping there and blowing everything as I repaired. i just managed to get 10 points in with st like 5 flags left! Phew!! So how you get 25 IAR seems impossible.

I recommend late night rounds with few guys on a big map where the flags exchange alot = long round. Just pray the spec ops guys bother to blow the assets as well as cap flags!!

For interest are there any better ways of getting repair points than com assets and BH riding with your spanner out!!!!

A tissue for what? I dont care about my stats too much, lol. Yes we are playing Battlefield, and most maps you do need a Vehicle. However, you said you are not a tank whore. I was simply proving you are.

And that you are a stat whore as well.

Yes, I have a good amount in vehicles. Why? So I can practice for matches, and because I have fun flying planes/heli's. I have only 7 hours or so in a tank, meanwhile you LIVE in your little tank.

edit: Oh, and literally over 50% of your kills are from being in a Tank/APC. Please dont consider yourself a non-tank whore. LOL. Just admit it.

I never said I wasnt a vehicle whore, but I definatly am not the stat/tank whore you are lol.

Actually if only one person has played on one account, then yeah, it's easy to see how they got the points by looking at the stats. You just have to look at the numbers to see what kind of player you are. Everything is in there.

all you need to do is find a humvee, lob a granade at it {or 2] sit in the back and repair it. as long as u or someone else is in it you will get your repair point.

There are so many "stat padding" ways of getting this badge but only a couple "licit" ways to get the badge listed here. That's a bit disheartening. Is the veteran and expert engineer badges really an indication of skill or diabolical cunning?

If it's the latter, then that is all the more reason to modify the requirements for this badge. Perhaps to something entirely different than it is now that still requires a lot of skill but is harder to get by way of exploits.
