    Re: expert engineer badge

Not to be too off topic from your excellent post 3key, but I'm sure you are well aware that there are many incongruities within the game's make-up. Some from a point of realism and others from a point of balance and possibly even enjoyment of gameplay. I love playing Engineer, and wish the repair points were indeed given quicker. Especially in a game where the use of armor and other vehicles is so pervasive. Players count on the armor, why not count on me and my 'worth' a little bit more then? Still, an Expert Engineer Badge seems nothing more then a forlorn pipe-dream for me at the moment, regardless of how the latest patch may have affected its requirements. What I really wonder is if there is a way that you can still be very close to the realism and accuracy model (as most of us demand) and not have a bunch of people constantly bitching that they are getting owned by the 'one shot, one kill' prowess of a certain class?

Commander assets are huge targets now. Stay near them and repair them when they blow.

I got veteran by repairing 5.5 assets. You just about get 2 repair pts per item when fully blown up.

If u are a semi good pilot just take a bh from a map that no one wants it and crash it into stuff softly and then land hit f5 and start repairin.

Some vehical repairs, but mostly repairing command assests. MEC held the TV station and tried to keep the sh!t blown up. Me and my trusty wrench kept busy.

Yes badges and ribbon are fun, it makes for interesting challanges out of the mindless point gathering.

I was able to switch maybe 5 times while I was working on my WCR, most of the time I went down with my team if we lost. Took me almost 2 months to get it. Im so glad im done with it. Now I can just screw around trying to get badges instead of picking up everyone elses slack to win.

Armor whore? pfft. Only when needed.

now this is what i don't understand. You say you got most of it out of command assets, so let's pretend out of 27 repair points you got 7 points out of repairing vehicles (which is crazy in a map where there's very little vehicle repairing on normal conditions) and you made the rest 20 points out of repairing uav/arty/scan... well, If mec keeps blowing stuff up, how they don't see you repairing it? were you and the enemy's spec ops coexisting peacefully? I mean, that's the only way I could explain it because the closest spawn point is the construction site. If you had to run back and forth from the construction site to the tv station, and repairing vehicles here in there i don't see how you had so much time. Even if it was repairing one thing after another non-stop the whole map it's questionable that you have enough time in one map to get to 27 unless... of course no one was killing you and you were focusing on repairing instead of capping that flag which sounds odd for someone with your stats.

I hope you don't take my post the wrong way, but i'm honestly curious on how you managed to do it.

Agreed. I did that running thing between the construction site and the main USMC base and managed 3 repair points earlier tonight...but then again...I had NO help...so that might do it....and our rounds are over in 20 minutes. Another big minus.

I'm sorry you dont get it. I told you how I did it. No 'coexisting peacefully' as you would like to think. No I wasnt trying to single handedly take back the base..I was trying to get my badge remember? I was helping my team enough keeping the command assests up. 64plr map, 32 players. If you cant figure out how to lurk around the walls and boxes of the map and waste a guy with c4 in his hand every once in a while I cant help you. I wasnt going out of my way to draw attention to myself. I killed in self defense and kept my wrench turning the rest of the time.

Keep watch...if a squad leader is closing in on the base..join his squad and spawn on him..less legwork and more wrench'n

I think if you can get your wrench more than half way gone you should get a point. I could throw 5 ammo packs and get 5 points instantly. Those are by far the easiest to get. Health packs will take a bit longer but still very easy compared to repairing.

Repairing takes damaged things and there aren't any damaged things really. Commander Assets should give you a point for bringing it back up and running. Maybe stick a timer on it so you can't just have your buddy c4 it over and over. Instead of wrenching for 10 seconds to get a point.
