Ok now it is time to give my 2 cents on this seemingly hot topic. For starters the jet shouldn't be "nerfed" to say and the anti-air emplacements do need a slight fix. First of all, it seems that the main complaint for jets is that they are too incredibly difficult to be shot down by units on the ground. The main reason for this is because the jets just do continous barrel rolls or loop-de-loops or some other form of evasion. To solve this, we just need to tweak up the realism for flight physics. This would solve:

A. You can no longer do infinite loops and avoid continuous barages of anti aircraft missles without losing airspeed, stalling, and crashing to your doom.

B. Jets would be an object for the "Ace" pilots. Most of these flyboys prefer a good adrenaline rush of an aerial dogfight than that of a simple base raping run.

The anti-air could be tweaked slightly so that they can actually hit fast moving targets. This feature is for the bombing base rapers who prefer to just drop their load on the enemy main base (where there is always garunteed to be an AA emplacement). So there ya go. No need to nerf the jet, just make it so that they must obey the laws of physics.

i disagree wholeheartedly on B.
I consider myself very good with jets, and while its nice shooting down a jet, nothing is better than getting 4+ kills on a base bombing run with the su34 and F15E. especially on maps like operation clean sweep. If a team only has one base.....oooooo i love that.

Oh yea jets are overpowered, but meh. you can deal with it. What makes jets imbalancing is when one side has a bunch of ace pilots and the other a bunch of noob pilots.

Personally, I have not had any problems with jets being overpowered outside of clean sweep every once in a while (what they should do is ditch that horid map). I personally have found the AA alot better after the patch also. Although I have noticed how easy it can be at many times to dodge the missles (although I haven't flown much since the patch came out with the new AA so I can't comment on that) I personally don't think there is a major imbalance.

Usually I play as ground infantry and don't use vehicles much outside of the light jeeps. I just kind of ignore the planes unless I'm near an AA platform and am not already in combat. I just kind of go my own way and don't see much of the jets. Honestly, I don't think I have been succesfully bombed since the new patch came out. (although my experience apparently seems to differ with those of others)

On a different note:
<rant>What I do hate are the people who come into threads like this where people express their opinions and put in stupid posts like "go play CS" or "stop whining and learn to fly". At least the supposed "whiners" can back up there opinions instead of just posting overused idiotic comments. If you don't have an opinion you can actually back up, than shut up. (and before people try to use this against me, as I said, my opinion is based on in-game experiences as mentioned above)</rant>

I will save the dude the embarrassment by not naming him but this is how i like to deal with Jet whores.
Yesterday i infiltrated his base as spec op and planted my C4. He respawned looked around for a sec then hopped in his Jet. BANG.
Then when he respawned i shot him and his mate. Then i resupplied myself dropped arti on the runway and repositioned.
I killed him and his mate and the 2 jets 4 times in a row all the while typing I OWN U (name) in the console.
I was commander odviously and used resupply UAV Arti and C4 against him/them.
He bombed me twice so i took it upon myself to neutralise the threat. The typing of Ownage was for pure fun and i was buzzing as it doesn't usually work out quite that well.
I have found previously that once these guys toys have been taken away and there on the ground they are usually pants and get owned sharpish.
Also if they know someone will target them and there toys the whole round they usually leave the server and find a server they can continue to rack up there easy points. Job done either way.

Whinging is not the way. Us foot soldiers should take responsibility and destroy them by whatever means we have to hand. Get to the base with a good squad leader who sits out the way for respawn and just keep them on the ground. Also you can always use a trooper to steal the jet and park it up out the way primed with C4. Its a beauty as soon as you see it dissapear off the hud you just press the magic button.
Dont forget to type in console Oi Pilot BANG just before you do it. :laugh:

BTW before you start i was Spec op and commander legitimising my position in there base.

I know saying "whining" is like forum cocaine here, but how about we start using it correctly? I was more mature in my first here than some of the people who have posted in this thread could ever hope to be (and yes, whining means complaining in an immature fashion). Whining and protesting are different things, one is just more fun to say.

At last! Someone with brains!

Boy did I get ****ed when someone did this to me, but it's nice to see someone who uses tactics and brains instead of whining to solve problems.
The thing is, I think people seem to forget what airpower is. If it's in the game it'll be the harshest weapon in it - period. If it is used well. It will be worse. You can not turn this vehical into yet another vehical - it is a fast moving jet in an open sky. People seem to think you don't need skills to excell in it. But this is of course rediculus. There is no wonder why the people who don't fly jets well whine about them - they know they can't use the thoughest weapon in the game, so they would prefer that no one else will be able to use it well. This will make them seem better players.

You know whan did I became a better pilot? In BFV I prefered to fly the choppers at first. But in order to get in one you'd have to perticipate in the most horrible TK fest. I hated that. And jets where much less wanted. They were harder to get points with in BFV. So I went local (you might say loco), and practice like crazy on the jets. I ditched my whinings aside.

Guys, I really think this whole thing is related to how you treat problems. Do you really think there are no creative ways for you to handle jets better?
I'm sure there are - What Malc said here is one of those ways. In a way, Malc does what the Israeli air force did in the 6 days war in 1967 - he destroyes the enemy's air force on the ground because he knows that in order to handle jets in the sky, you need a lot of air power, or that the casualties for you side in such a battle would be too much for you side to withstend.
So the Israeli air force knew he had much less jets to fight the war (they coudln't ask EA to make the "MEC" have less spwaning jets or better AA) - they practically destory ALL the air forces of Egypt, Jordan and Syria on the ground, as an intial attack in the 6 days war. The rest of the war was faught with only one air force in the sky, and you can imagine what that meant.

Just think of it - I know this is only a game, but tactics are the main strength of the BF series. Good tactics can solve problems you wouldn't believe are solvable. Try using the strength of the features DICE gave us. Hint: Team work.

IMO Jet Whores are part of the game until EA/DICE say otherwise; therefore you can look forward to more of this until they decide the change their mind:



And yes we did have 2 people in jets on our team...that's how he died and didn't have an even larger kill count.

Meh. I shot down 2 fighters, 2 blackhawks and a cobra in one round last night using AA.

The AA is fine. It's all about your timing.

i dont think airpower is ruining the game and love seeing a aircraft coming in a dropping its payload while im running for cover its war surely! these aircraft are a major part of war and they do dominate, i would rather see a aircraft with slightly more payload and when its ready for repair/resupply make them land before they can go back again, it wouldnt slow them down much as they would have more bombs but landing will take more skill etc

First positive suggestion and sensible comment I've read in this thread. Make the Aircraft have to land to rearm. BF1942 you had to land the plane to repair it. You had to actually manoeuvre it into the hanger. Never mind messing with the AA. I like the planes and I can land them too, but they are sitting ducks on the ground and that’s fair coz they are deadly in the sky. I like all of the aspects of this game.

And come on guys with the taunts and kiddie stuff. It'll be my dad can beat your dad next.

Play and enjoy and if you cant enjoy don’t play. It's the cheaters you all want to worry about. Check these sites out and get onto EA and punkbuster to bring them down.

Jets ARE ruining the game. I totally avoid maps with jets. I have no problem with them being in the map but they need to be tweaked. Someone sugested to make them land for resuply, I agree. And make that AA more effective, also kit with a Stinger or Igla would be nice. Russians lost Afghanistan because of the american Stingers and Vietnam was a deathtrap beacuse of Russian missiles. You can not fly that low without getting shot down cause Igla and Stingers are a dangerous things and besides jets in real life have maybe one or two missions a day so to adjust them to the game it would be fair to at least make them land to get new weapons and a fix. That would give infrantry intervals of couple of minutes to do something. It would also make people guard airports because SF and engineers would mine and booby trap them. New tactics is always welcome in this game.

Helicopters I have nothing against because you can defend against those with Vodniks, Humvees, tanks and APCs and they make the game dynamic. I also agree that points should be given to people who damage helicopters and planes and scare them away. Like if a damaged plane lands or crashes all people who damaged them could get some damage points. I often break my neck to chase a blackhawk or some combat helo from my troops and I get nothing for it. I would of course do it again cause team playing makes this game great but it would be nice to be apreciated.

Oh and -26 on team work! That's a wonderful pilot to be having as your enemy! He does all the work for you.
