I guess over time it is inevitable that people will find the spots that are good to snipe from, heck I found them all in 10 minutes by driving a buggy around Wake, the only one that required a little imagination was the boat spot, that's probably the safest place to snipe in Wake, especially if you are on the Chinese side. I think I've been killed a total of 2 times when sniping on the boat, one was by arty and another was when an alert chopper gunner saw me as he was flying over - my fault for not taking cover. :hmm:

Good spots but most of us know of these since Wake came out. Humm funny thing is no matter how many people know of these spots (WE Snipers) still continue to get kills in them even with the knowledge of these spots out. Oh well Ill keep getting my kills :)

nice post, WAke Island is my fave map for sniping. I've always wanted to use the boat in the bay (there is one on Zatar too) but the choppers are always in use by hoggers.

you can get onto the boat using a rib .....playing as US and if the US have one of the first bases on the island you can sneak up in the rib sometimes since there concentraiting on recapturing the flag.....

These points on the map will get you killed quickly. I HS guys on top of the bunkers easily from long distances. You are definitely not invisible: enemy snipers can see you from a long distance. By the way, all of the screenshots show the chinese scope which is much less powerful than the l96a1 and m24.

              thanks for the tips!

wish I could figure out what the scope numbers mean?

I mean, do you have to do elevation/windage just like a real gun????

Or does it just go where pointed? I'm missing a lot at long long distance...

(say from art. island to the machine gunners/snipers in bunker on tip of island.

              Thanks...

There isn't a wind calculation. However. the game has bullet drop. You must account for gravity's pull on the bullet, so you will have to aim higher than your intended target at long range. The best way to master this is practice.

RE: the scope, true, Chinese/MEC sniper rifle is 3.33X, M24/L9/M95 is 5X.

Is it actually 'easy' to shoot people through that gap on top of the bunker though? Because I usually do the shooting, but I rarely get shot back. :p

In fact I don't recall ever dieing from getting directly shot through the gap, I've certainly been flanked and gunned down by attack choppers and arty though.

And when I play Wake, I never find people on top of the bunker (well I have occasionally, just not behind that protruding pink chimney) so I've never tried shooting through that gap from afar.

I find it slightly difficult to believe that it is 'easy' to shoot someone through the gap, especially at long range, considering you have a target the size of half a head to aim at, plus having to account for bullet drop and random deviation.

Not an impossible shot, mind you, especially for a skilled M24/L9 user, I just don't think the average joe would call that an 'easy' shot from long range. (200m+ in my view is 'long range' FWIW)

A long shot is from the arty island up to the first flag on the left of the island, I've seen some snipers sitting up there in the tree line, you can hit them and kill them, sniping from the arty island to the bunkers on the tips of the island is relatively close range imho, it still puzzles me as to why guys would sit in those jeeps, with no cover, there just asking for trouble.....

Angles ........ may not be able to get a clean shot head on but work you way around until you can see their body, 2 shots, it you can get a head shot at 200m then you definitaly can get two leg shots at that range......

Yeah, the key is to NOT let that happen, by good situational awareness. If an enemy sniper is after you and you DON'T spot him first 9/10 times you will die, unless they are a terrible shot. Easier said than done though, I myself am sometimes guilty of 'tunnel vision syndrome' when sniping.

I recall once or twice being spotted by an enemy sniper, and one actually did try to adjust their angle on me, I just compensated for their 'adjustment' by shifting a little to the left or right. They can't keep running forever because an unconcealed, sprinting, upright sniper is just asking for trouble.

For every 10 steps they make in adjusting the angle, I just have to move a couple of inches to compensate. If they focus too much on me then they are not looking at the big picture, and don't see the infantry coming straight for them. Remember I'm not the only person who sees an enemy sniper is an easy kill for points.

I guess the key to the airfield bunker being a successful sniping spot is that there is always so much concentrated action around the airfield that not many people will notice you up there, there are much more obvious targets running around, and even if you are spotted you have decent cover for backup.

A VERY good spot is on top of the houses at the flags at the start of the island (the ones closest to the US bases), take a jeep around the back, hop on it and then up to the roof, you can sit up there all day long, good thing about this spot is it's in the range to take (or keep) a flag and you can see the next flag along the island, you can snipe the top of the bunker and inside it and the other side of the road (which is your weak point as there is not much cover from that side).

Well with the bunkers you dont need a car you can just jump up on the pipe and with the sunken boat if your onthe yanks get a boat and cruise up the side then jump in one of the position like F3 or F4 then push E and then jump on well thats how i do it

Can be VERY hard if youve a half decent .50 cal gunner, rib wont even make it to the main island, if a flag is take then you've a better chance as most ppl would be concentraiting on it and not the sea.....

I dont like how people show off sniper spots of their own, its hurting yourself and other snipers, then people know where to find you.
