Chinese J-10 fighter is next to invulnerable. You need 5 missiles to shoot it down and you get Team vehicle damage minuses once you succeed to take one of these down.

2.
Server browser can't handle full server name. For example if I write "some.server.net", the browser doesn't find it at all. If I write only "some" it finds it... Highly annoying...

3.
If a teammateplayer having a red tag bug is flying a jet, you now can even lock your missiles on his plane. Result is obvious... a TK.

To put it simply, while I'm annoyed about all the idiots with alternate guns now because they've screwed the ranking system over, I'm MORE ****ed off with server side glitches.

Players still appearing as enemy when they're friendly, end-round points not showing up, no gold/silver/bronze medals awarded.. What kind of patch is this? It's destroying servers left right and center! @_@ Until EA decides to pull 1.03 back out and rework it like they did with 1.01, I'm gonna put my BF2 career on hold.

And did I mention I'm royally cheesed that about the ranks? I worked HARD for Sergeant! And while I'm overjoyed that I get bumped to Master Sergeant like *snap* that, I don't like sharing my perks with a buncha snot-nosed little UT2K4 junkies! What kind of teamwork can be encouraged then when the role of flunkie and leader aren't rigidly defined!? Everybody now just lonewolfs with their G36!

And as for all the other glitches you guys mentioned, I noticed that 1.02 was WAY more stable than 1.03, I'm half sold on reinstalling with just that and going on the COMCast servers.

this actually isnt a bug, its been like that since the start, theres a couple theroys as of how its decided but i believe it goes by commander points not ranking, theres other posibilities so dont argue with me cuz im not saying im right, but i do know its not a bug

Have you read the message when you lvl up a rank? It says that you have an advantage over other players when applying for commander.

'Invalid CD key' error after installing the patch.

Sometimes a conflict in the updated files can prevent the game from properly identifying your CD-key. Usually, refreshing your CD-key will resolve the issue. Note that this will only correct the error if you used the same Windows account to install, patch, and troubleshoot the game. If you have switched Windows accounts at any point it is recommended you uninstall, reinstall, and repatch using the same Windows login.

1.
Open My Computer.
2.
Open the Program Files folder.
3.
Open the EA Games folder.
4.
Open the Battlefield 2 folder.
5.
Open the Support folder.
6.
Double-click on the Battlefield 2_code.exe.
7.
Type in your CD-key as listed on the back of the manual and click Next.
8.
The window will close (your serial number is now refreshed in the registry).

If you still experience the error, trying reinstalling the patch files to correct any improper updates. The 1.03 patch is located on the Battlefield 2 downloads page.

Just installed 1.3, Damnit why did I ever do that! :evil:
1. Now gamespy is useless. I get that stupid screen that wants to take me to the new ver 1.3 features. This keeps gamespy from launching the game.
2. Now I get false promotions. Seems everytime I kill someone I get promoted. Not a real promotion it just tells me I'm promoted.

I can't wait for the new Operations Flashpoint to come out so I can play a real war simulator again! :)

EA games you need to test your patches before you release them.

OMFG, one of my clan mates had this bug:
He downloaded the patch and started the patching process and the thing told him that he has incificiant room on his hard drive or something like that, so he re-downloaded the patch and it tells him the same thing. And he has about 75% of his hard drive open.

make sure there is more then 1.9GB free space in the partition where the temp directory is located.

I keep getting through about 1 1/2 to 2 rounds and then the game freezes and ctrl-alt-del doesnt work, and neither does last resort F4. I have to hit the power button on the computer. anyone know how to fix this???

Loaded up the latest patch yesterday, game play is crap, pings have gone through the roof, done all the usual things to sort it out, defrag, disk clean etc. Wiped the game off the hard drives and re-installed and loaded up 1.02, runs brilliant!!! Does anybody else have this issue?????

Yeah, I love how they fixed the TK system. I don't know how many times I've been run in to by my own jet/bomber while I was flying the Cobra and been charged with 3-4TK's. Or being in the gunner seat of the Tank and being charged a TK for C4ing it. Or being in the gunner seat of the Cobra and jetting charged for TK when we crash. Yeah, thanks DICE for fixing the TK issue, good JOB.

well, thank god my patch is fine and i havnt had any of these problems....EXCEPT.......i did encounter a problem with my teamates name showing up as red(enemy) but this seemed to be only temporarily(the first login after patch installation) i had prob with user name prefix too but i quickly figure that out and went into my global and changed it

Originally, I just unloaded the patrch right over 1.02, but found the load times slowed down. I uninstalled and then reinstalled with only the 1.03 patch and it seemed to fix the problem, incase anyone else has experienced this problem.

I think I have every issue that is listed here.. but there is one that I have that was not.

When loading Dragon Valley, regardless of what map was previously played, during the verification I get a message saying that my version does not match the server version.

However, I can simply just reconnect, and it will work fine. Not crucial, but minorly annoying.

PS the M95 is still a waste, stingers don't track for ****, unless they're tracking your own teams heli, and the commander is still very much punished when his team walks into an arty strike.

Does anybody else get the impression that EA just doesn't care? This will be my last EA purchase, the level of community support is worse then Dell.

INVALID CD-KEY error needs to get added.

and ea needs to get flogged.

Here is what I found that causes that error:

AFTER RELEASING a patch for Battlefield 2 earlier today, EA is now likely having a nice time cataloguing problems people seem to have with it.
Thanks to a couple of responses from readers this morning we've found a distinct problem with the latest patch for Battlefield 2. It looks like the 1.03 patch encrypts the CD-key value in the windows registry. Most likely this is done to avoid the theft of CD-keys by malicious software while you're playing online. It's a clever move.

Unfortunately, it looks like this encryption of the CD-key is specific to the Windows User Account that was used to install the patch. If any other Windows user attempts to play the game on the same machine they are given a message saying the key is invalid.

So far we haven't been able to contact EA for comment. Thanks to Breen Oullette for his detailed description of what seems to have gone wrong on his machines.

Here are a list of bugs I didn't experience untill 1.03 patch.


Severe FPS drop around certain spawn points.

Weapons refusing to fire after jumping off something and landing on ground. It will fire in mid air but as soon as I land, boom im clicking my mouse button and nothing happens.

Oh the classic C4 bug(experienced before 1.03 too)
throwing down a c4 pack and switching to detonator, then by it self switches back to c4. This has cost me at least 200 kills.

Im on my way to First seargeant and haven't gotten basic knife combat yet. Oh ya like the Op I have 50+ so ill hit the req for veteran and probably not get promoted corectly.

I get the impression that the programmers and devolopers have no pride or talent enoughf to write well defined code. I swore MOHPA was my last EA purchase. I can gaurantee that BF2 certainly is.

::edit note::: I have experienced more bugs than this. Ill update when I remember what they are. Ive also had many experiences with BF2 crashing or minimizing to desktop or freezing/not responding.

BF2 is one of my favorite games of all time. However I would have been pure gaming bliss without its bugs and stupid punish system.
