According to theinquirer.net, the CD-Key problem happens when you install the game from one account and play using another windows account. This issue is by design because they encrypted the cd-key in windows registrry so it wont be stolen when you go online. Not sure if that is the case with everyone who is having this problem. try to install and play using the same account. I never had this problem.

Another graphics bug...

I went prone and moved under and enemy APC. that was capturing the flag. (Do not ask me why! but I was trying to put a landmine before the guy can see me.)
While I was there I hit the "Z" button by mistake and I stoodup! guess what! I found myself standing in the middle of the APC. hit "Z" again and went prone again... looks like you can go through vehicles if you go under them! I am not sure if that problem is specific to the patch or not.

The patch is a joke! I don't have many of the problems most of you are complaining about, aside from Enemy Identification/Spawning on Squad Leader/Game Browser Filters, but WTF. It's not like most of these Bugs/Glitches etc weren't reported many many times in BF2 Forums everywhere. EA, you better dish out the Expansion for free if you expect anyone to keep playing this crap(BF2)for much longer. It's sad, cause the game has soo much potential, but no support, so why bother. Dam 2007 is a long time to wait for RTCW2.

Well, I could play for hours before the patch.

Now whenever I try and play, without fail, my machine gives me a BSOD after about 30 minutes and then hard reboots.

Good job EA, you have perpetuated your stereotype that your patches break more than they fix. I encountered the Red name bug again today... Stop diddling yourselves and fix stuff.

Log into account and give yourself a Prefix.

Log out or restart BF2 and load the account and it doesn't save your Prefix in the dialog, but still keeps it when you log into the account server.

Also if you change accounts it still remembers the last Prefix but doesn't prompt you or show you what the current prefix is until you actually log in.


Step 1: Login to account, give Prefix 123456
Step 2: Log out
Step 3: Restart, don't put a prefix in (notice 123456 is not in the Prefix edit box)
Step 4: Log into account and notice the prefix is still there
Step 5: Repeat but this time change accounts and the prefix is still there

For all those crashing to desktop. A few of our clan members have had this and fixed it with the simple method of taking the cover off the computer. I myself did this all the time and it worked so it seams to be an overheating issue with Ati cards in particular. I fixed it it seams by getting all the dust blown out of my fans which gave me a 10 DEGREE drop in temperature and since then have not crashed to desktop once. This obviously may not be an overheating problem for everyone but if you are having this problem check your temps and try out without the case cover on. If it works think about dust in the fans or more fans in the case. Its worked for most people I know. Also post if it works for you.

Repetative sound bug (since ver. 1.00) still happening. I wrote a thread about it here:

Indeed i keep getting the ammo/health giving sounds that just stay on even if i respawn as another kit.

I skimmed through and didn't see this listed. Yesterday on Sharqi, I was the gunner in the MEC heli. The pilot crashed us into the ground and *I* was punished for TK'ing him. Seemed kind of silly to me

New bug, applying for commander is screwed.

I applyed for commander at the start of a round and it said someone with higher rank got it. I'm a Sergeant Major the guy that got it was a Gunnery Sergeant.

This happened twice when I applyed, second time a Staff sergeant got it...wtf... :)

this actually isnt a bug, its been like that since the start, theres a couple theroys as of how its decided but i believe it goes by commander points not ranking, theres other posibilities so dont argue with me cuz im not saying im right, but i do know its not a bug

There is nowhere mentioned how to search for partial server names. After some trial&error and SQL knowledge I tried "%" as a placeholder and succeeded.

Nice find! It was irritating that you could only search on the starting letters in a server name, but this works great.

I notice that %ABC% will not find anything at all, but typing just %ABC will find all servers w/the string "ABC" anywhere in their name, which is the functionality I always wanted.

I thought the server browser was completely trashed again... then I clicked off all the filters and reclicked the filters I wanted. Works like a charm now... a lot better than the previous version.

The game loads and runs well in the first 5seconds (50-60fps) than even if I dont move it falls to 20 in 10seconds.... than it goes between 20-30. I cant see the reason :/ Have any of you experienced the same or know the solution??! plz help man...
