Maybe Billen or someone could tell us if it possible to temporarily change your environment variables like %USERPROFILE% or sysroot in order to get the install to go through.

I've tried changing the environment variables through System Properties->Advanced->Environment Variables. I've also tried the temp folder override command suggested by the support of InstallShield. Both are useless.

I think the best solution for us is to ask someone to upload a complete zip with the 13 files..

I agree, someone upload a proper zip, or send me a tell so I can host it.

Whether you change temp folder location, or use -is: during the install doesn't matter, the installer checks your available space on C: anyway.

The patch worked fine for me.

There are only 12 files in the setup, not 13.

This "working method" accomplishes nothing if you are already running with your TMP variable set to another drive.

You are making a mountain out of a mole hill guys.
For those of you that have not got enough space on your HD move the game to a partition that has or create enough space (if you can on your existing drive).
Save the patch to where there is space also. (the patch will find the places it needs to patch to just fine.
IMHO follow the instructions to the letter of uninstalling Game PB and patch here then reinstall installing the 1.03 where it says 1.02 (Don't install any of the other patches, i need to edit my post) http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18709

The black screen issue when trying to open the game is a hardware issue not software, it needs to be dealt with as a separate point plz post individual posts in this part of the forum with full sys specs and try to keep to the facts and not vent.

I would advise you to read through the available information again, Shark.

I have one drive with less than 1600 mb on this rig, that is C:. No single windows variable besides windows home is pointing towards that drive.

The problem is that the patcher checks for available space on your systemdrive, no matter where your game, swapfile, temp path or patch is located. If you haven't got ebough space, it cancels the patch.

The other error, black screen and CTD, is a straight followup from the first error, hence it is being mentioned in the same thread.

Thanks for trying to be of help but realize this the patch does not give a damn where its actually placed.. it has inside itself that no matter where it is it will still Exctract all the Temp files to my temp C:/ folder no matter what I do. And yes my BF2 is on my D:/ folder for games with over 10GB of free space.

Even if i launch the patch from Bf2 folder itstill will extract folders to my C:/ temp folder.

Strange but when i dl last night i dl to a pre designated folder using "Download Accelerator Plus" not windows dl tool, it saved in the same folder, I double clicked the icon and it installed just fine, no temp files used, could you try that?

GreatWhiteShark: The installer used temp files, of this I am certain. Check your %tmp% folder and run the installer again, you will notice it unpacking the files there.

What is your hard drive "total" size?
Are you left with a total of 1600mb on this HD?
You have no partitions on your HD?

As far as I can see the extracted Patch.exe should work. I'm currently at work so I couldn't test anything yet.

The Installer extracts several RTPatch files. The Patch.exe is a command line tool with the following options:

After you put the files in the BF2 folder could you open a CMD.exe window and run:

Patch.exe -OTEMPDIR:D:\TEMP

Patch.exe -OTEMPDIR:*

and could you post the result statistics.
