I cant install the new patch

What idiot at EA packed this patch ??

This patch requires according to the errormessage i get 1,6GB free space on my C:/ drove and my C: drive is 4,5GB big cause i only have windows on this and there is no chance in hell i can make 1,6gb free, i have about 900mb free now. How the hell can a 175mb patch be needing 1600mb on my c drive ? the game is installed on my D:/ drive over 10GB free FFS!!!

Is there a way to bypass this ??? please anyone i wanna play dammit.

You guys dont get it dont you ? This is stupid have you ever heared of a patch requiring that insane amount of free space,, how much mb does the patch even install ? I doubt over a few hundred mbs.

Problem is that the installer is automatic targeted on my C:/ drive but i wanna somehow change that and im upset yes i have clan practice tomorrow so excuse me if im not the perfect english writer .

Well, I'm not trying to be an ass. I can't really change the fact that the patch needs alot of space, but if you move the file to the D: drive and run it from there you should be alright. Maybe I don't understand the question. You said you have the OS on one drive (C: ), and BF2 on another (D: ). You should be able to create a new folder on the D: drive and move the patch you downloaded to that folder. Then you can run it from there and have ample space.

If you have 1 HD and 2 partitions use the trail of Partitionmagic to merge 2 partitions together

You also needed more than 1Gb of free space in order to install the last 2 patches. Couldn't you do whatever you managed to do last time?

You could uninstall the game from your c drive, then install the game and patch in D drive it will work fine, all you will have in the c drive will be the My documents...small Battlefield 2 folder.

Unfortunately the amateur who packaged this patch ignored secret elite windows features such as %TMP%. My own temp directory is on a drive with 160 gb available, but the patcher still wants to unpack 1600 mb to my systemroot.

Clean your %tmp% directory, execute the setup.exe, chose language, and after that move the "{436DA0CB-E449-49C4-9454-A0A828E7C1B2}" folder (name might be different on your machine) to another drive. From that drive, execute

"patch.exe" "x:\path to battlefield 2"

thank you for the useful reply, its immensely appreciated. (i have to reinstall/uninstall/reinstall/etc to attempt to get my CD-Key back to normal, since apparently the 1.03 patch invalidated it heh)

Okey man, just a problem after i press the language setup it starts to extracts to my C:/ drive and within a few seconds i get the 1600MB needed error. What am i missing that you say i must move the folder with the numbers in it ?

Dissable any antivirus like Norton, I know that sounds crazy but sometimes they cause problems. Also defrag your harddisk if it is fragmented. A while back i could not install a programm but it worked after i defraged the harddisk.

the patch is already at my d:/ drive.
