Re: Accuracy:Bullet Drop& Head Shots
When you set the sites on a real gun. You "Zero" them to a given range.
This is the range at which the sites meet the bullet perfectly, taking into account bullet drop. When aiming with a site you may actually be firing the gun upwards so that the bullet will arc and be pulled down by gravity as it meets the Zeroed range.
- Now if you shoot shorter then your Zeroed ranged, the bullet hits above the site location. Since it has not fallen enough yet.
- If you shoot greater it hits below the site, since it has fallen even more as it proceeds beyond the Zeroed range.
Target shooting with a normal gun you would counter these effects by tuning your site with the range adjustment knob. In combat you may not have time to do this for each shot. Thus the sites will be off if you are NOT shooting at exactly the Zeroed range. We have no clue what the Zeroed range is for the sites on the guns in this game. Nor do we have a knob to adjust them.
I know from experience the Susat Scope on the L85A1 has 300meters as the lowest setting. Thus 300m is the shortest you can zero that gun for. If you want the adjustment knob to perform correctly. Shorter than 300meters you might be shooting high. Beyond you might be shooting low.
Wear and tear on gun parts will also effect the deviation of the bullet even more. A well maintainned target shooting gun might deviate as little as 1 inch at 100yards. A battle worn gun might deviate up to 6 inches.
