And dont tell me I dont like close combat. I know my SN says Stlouissniper, but thats just a name. I love getting into close up firefights, not knowing who is going to die. Its the whole reason I play this game (other than BH whoring LOL)
I don't think that's the correct way to rank the weapons and is not what the original poster was asking for. Anti-tanks with DAO-12 are equipped for all ranges and classes. Vehicles, you have the Erxy/SRAW.
Infantry long range, Eryx/SRAW. Medium range, pistol. Close range, shotgun. So what if the DAO can't hit 20 feet in front of you. Thats why you either close the distance, or retreat and let them come to you, or change weapon. So many options.

There is a nice trick with the DAO, start the reload and then after a few shells make a quick change to a different weapon and back again. You'll have the shells you've put in and it will have stopped reloading.

I didn't see this mentioned anywhere, but it should be noted that both the PKM and the M95 do noticable damage to unarmored vehicles. This is especially handy for the PKM, with its rate of fire. I've shot down numerous attack helos on maps like Kubra Dam; it's not quite as accurate (I don't think, anyway), but it's just about as fast as the .50 cal machine guns on tanks/Vodniks/Humvees/buggies. So when you need to scare off that helo harassing your squad and you aren't near a .50 cal, the PKM is your gun.

I'm not exactly sure of the M95's damage to vehicles ... I've heard estimates that you can take helos down in 3 shots just below the rotors, but I don't know if I believe those rumors. I do know that if you can peg a damaged/smoking helo or vehicle, you can blow it up.

Actually while PKM does more damage per hit, the SAW does more damage per second.

            Re: Complete Unlocked Weapons Thread

I think there is another error on that weapon spec chart. It says the L-85 has a higher damage than the g36. I have unlocked both, and I LOVE the scope on the L-85, but I can't seem to kill ANYONE. I can kill people from fairly long ranges with the g36 on single shot, if they are still. However, I can't seem to take anyone down with the L-85 at long range(I do seem to get a LOT of kill assist points with it, so I must be hitting them). It is either weaker, or not as accurate .
I've thought long and hard about unlocking the G3 next. I like the assult class, and don't use the gl much, because I'm not very good with it. I've put a grenade right in the middle of 3 guys that were about 5 feet apart, and it didn't kill one of them. However, the G3 is touted as being High on Damgage, and High on accuracy, but I can't seem to hit as many people at long range as I can with the M-16. I have to agree that the M-16 is one of the better weapons in the game.

If I could kill more (or maybe learn to - cuz I'm doing something wrong) with the L-85, I'd love it.
I wish that when you unlocked weapons you could use that weapon with any class. I mean, I earned it, let me use it whenever I want! Now that would be cool. An engineer, or anti-tank with a g36...Sweetness. Or, it would be nice if when you unlocked a weapon for a certian class you could use any of the weapons for that class for any country.

If you like playing support, PKM. That thing rocks the SAW. I'll say it again, on city maps, it's a killing machine. I played Karkland last night, found a squad together (5 people), went prone and pulled the trigger. Mowed the whole lot of them down in about 7 seconds. By the time the last 2 saw me, they didn't have time to kill me before I dropped them. One on one with most other kits I fight against, upgraded or not, its no contest. The only weapon that gives me a lot of trouble is another PKM :)

I have another upgrade coming, and the other kit I enjoy playing is Spec Forces. So I'm definitely getting the G36C. When I play Spec, accuracy is important as I play on open maps. When I play city... PKM all the way.

The damage is correct but if you think about it, it is effectively almost the same. You need 100 damage to the body to kill someone. That requires 4 hits from either one. It will only make a difference against body armor where the L85 will need 5 hits while the G36 needs 6.

                      Re: Complete Unlocked Weapons Thread

To AIRJARHEAD about the L-85 ("medic gun"):

When I first unlocked the gun, the scope thrilled me but I otherwise immediately hated it because of its lack of punch. However, I learned its quirks, and after killing 1500 people with it, I confidently say that I prefer the L85 over the M16, AK47 and M4.

Bottom line: The L85 is like a big brother of the M4. The L85 lacks punch of the M16 or Ak47, but makes up for it in accuracy. At range it will out shoot any gun, kill support and snipers, and take out all but the M24. At close range you can spray half your clip and consistently kill anyone not holding a shot gun. If you can instinctively crouch and burst fire at medium ranged targets, you will reliably kill multiple enemy before their team mates can get to you. If you are prone and have cover, firing single shot at targets 50 to 75 yards, the L85 will clear out spawn points, defend flags, and cause great misery.

                      Great L85 Uses:
-Strike at Karkand, up on a hill/roof top or crouched at a building corner.
-Providing precision fire support for a squad moving down a street.
-Supporting an assault or shot gunner when clearing out buildings and allays.
-Taking down SVD and snipers at a distance of 2 city blocks.
-Taking down any support and rifleman at a distance of a city block.
-Killing anyone who bunny hops. Spray the L85 and make them feel foolish.
-Surprising someone around a corner, or spraying at someone as they run across the street.

Control is the key. If your at the front line, scope and burst fire, don't full auto. If your enemy is at distance, take advantage of that and use the L85's superior range to single shot him to death. If your enemy is up close, spray and pray will get you the best results, even when the moron hops around like a rabbit on crack.

At ranges between 75 to 100 yards (sniper range), lay in prone and single shot the target until he dies. I use on average 10 to 15 rounds to kill someone at that range, hitting the target once out of every 3 or 4 shots. Despite the amount of ammo necessary, I usually win the firefight. I use this weapon with great success against SVD. I kill most snipers before they can kill me, simply because I can hit them more times per second then they can hit me. Only the M24 gives me trouble.

At ranges between 30 to 50 yards (distance of a city block), crouch and burst fire (2 to 3 rounds) at the target. It usually takes me 2 bursts to kill someone, and I can kill most people before they can kill me, even when they start firing first. Try to resist going into prone while auto firing. Some of your bullets are waisted hitting the ground, and the M16/Ak47/M4 has a greater chance of hitting you in the head when your prone at that distance. Main trouble maker at this distance is the grenade launcher.

At ranges of up close (shot gun range), spray continuously, don't control fire. The L85 has a horrible spray accuracy, however its wide spray area make it very effective at up close. I usually use half the clip to spray someone dead. At this range, M16 is at a disadvantage, and Ak47 will get me only part of the time. Only trouble maker at this distance are the shot guns.

Learn to love the L85 and it will reward you with lots of medals. Learn to shoot the L85 well, and you will be rewarded with survival.

Thanks antaren. I'll play around with it more in the demo (where I have everything unlocked) so I can get used to it. However, I'm glad you admitted how many rounds it takes to kill someone at long range (~15), cuz I thought it was just me. It doesn't take that many with the g36. However, I guess with the scope on the L85, you can see further, so you THINK you should be able to kill him easier than you actually can.
