    Spare us the tragedy :)

I have never, ever seen the APC used to carry troops like they are realistically intended to - the only time anyone rides in one (ie, doesnt drive) is when there are no other vehicles available and the player needs to get somewhere.

People use APCs like mini-MBTs, not armored carriers for personnel.

True, few people use them, so the APCs themselves wouldn't suffer so much as the jeeps and such which more commonly have people in'em. The patch is still going to ruin the feature however, no matter how little it is used. =/

Uhh... I'm not too sure. But I think they mean that the driver only counts as in -- The flag capture will go at the speed of one person -- Not all the people in the vehicle.

So if you hover over a flag in a blackhawk, the flag will be captured at the speed of one person -- But everyone gets points...

        Or am I just misunderstanding?

OK, if we changed the weapons to some futuristic weapons and models too, how would this game differ from UT2004 in Onslaught mode?

since this applies to all vehicles, why do we have extra guns on the jeeps, apcs, or tanks then? :|: they help defend the vehicle better than a person on foot. and would somone on their own in a jeep who gets on the gun to cover not cap the point at all (if they are alone)?

Almost, ONLY the driver gets the neutralize (2 points) and the flag capture (2 more points). All the other passengers do NOT get neutralize assist (1 point) and flag capture assist (1 more point) points.

The speed, as you mentioned is correct.

You are understanding correctly. It's everyone else that doesn't seem to get it.

Everyone in a vehicle still gets points whether you get out or not, but to make the flag turn faster you must dismount. So I don't think this will change style of play much.

Ok lets say we have a full jeep, (driver, gunner and two passengers), and try to cap a flag.

Only the driver of said vehicle will count when capping the flag. The speed and the points ONLY goto the driver - it would be as if the other three passengers where not there.

Now probably the best scenario here would be that the driver and two passengers get out of the vehicle while the gunner gives cover fire to secure the area, however, what may happen is the driver says in, gets the 2 points to neutralize and 2 more points capturing the flag while everyone else gets 0 - this basically forces EVERYONE to get out to get any points.

This is actually good because of the following:
                    1. 1 AT rocket could take the entire HUMVEE out.
                    2. They can secure the area rather than just capture the flag and get surprised
                    3. If an artillery strike were to occur they would be semi-spread out and might survive
                    4. They can take cover around the flag and root out hidden enemy inside buildings next to the flag

                    What's bad is as follows:
                    1. While outside the vehicle they are possibly more exposed to enemy sniper fire than if they were inside the protected vehicle, especially APCs.
                    2. Enemy vehicles maybe able to take out individual infantry that hasn't taken cover
                    3. You won't be able get points without getting out of a vehicle as a passenger - gunner in an attack helicopter included

better, because people will pull their lazy asses out of the bh or the humvee and actually secure the area.

Sorry my friend but the passengers do not get ANY points. Its as if they are not in the vehicle at all w.r.t. capturing the flag.

They MUST get out of the vehicle to count and get points.

They didn't change just the speed of the capture, but the way points are passed out as well for passengers.

That says nothing about points. It only applys to the RATE of a flag capture.

                                Ok we'll see.

I hope I read it wrong, but the original quote was:

Q: What are the main fixes in this patch?
A: I think one of the more popular ones will be that players have to get out of a Blackhawk to capture a flag. Now in a full Blackhawk only the pilot counts in the flag capture raduis.
Now I see how you think its only the SPEED and not the POINTS because it doesn't explicibly say that the passengers don't get any points when the developer says, "only the pilot counts in the flag capture raduis."

However in the previous sentence he said, "players have to get out of a Blackhawk to capture a flag." Doesn't that not imply that you get no points as a passenger?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
