None - I have Teamspeak, Ventrillo, and Xfire running while I play BF2. I don't have a kickass rig or anything either. Just a 2.66 Intel with 2G of Ram and a 6800 graphics card - running mid/low settings.

I never had problems running them all when I had 1G of Ram with the same setup either.

      Re: Damn Gunners!

Last night on a 10 V 10 or so I'm in the cobra but we have no commander so I type 3 times in chat that we need one [not a chopper pilot.] Eventually some guy takes the job and it's better than no one. So the guy jumps in my chopper to gun which is ok as long as he does the uav arty stuff every now and then. well we get 3 great lines ups and nothing. I'm behind the China chopper but a bit of a ways away. line up for an easy missile shot as the chopppers trying to cap the gas station. 300 yards away and the gunner opens up with his guns !!!, I bank forward to approach and try myself, he has no target but still loves the sound of the chain gun and can't stop shooting it. I level off for some missile work, he's still shooting and hits the chopper alerting the bad guy to spin around. I kill the chopper with missiles. and politely land and get out of the chopper.

I type in open chat that he needs to know what he's doing before gunning for a chopper again and I go hop in a tank.

well, lame story but I feel better now. good thread and point as we all know. they should make forum participation a requirement for playing so the noobs and smacktards can get a clue.

WTF!!

This happens the other way round to, i go gunner sometimes, i think its genius! but you get a totally selfish pilot who doesn't get positioned, and just flys down the line for himself and i dont get many shots. There was a admin IDIOT yesterday who was hovering aimlessly in the middle of dragon valey, we had all the flags, but he hovered for no reason, No targets, no nothing!! he then tells me i'm useless LOL! there wasn't anything to shoot!
He crashes and i respawn and get in the chopper, and UH OH!! i get kicked by Admin! EA UK server too! i'm freakin sick of this crap.
now this one is one of the funniest BF2 stupid frustrating story of all time i must admit, this would just give me enough power and anger to completely destroy my pc screen  noo seriously i understand your frustration... but once oyuve think about it its verry funny; hard to admit when your the one affected though

          Re: Damn Gunners!

yeah, gaming with TS/Vent up is perfectly normal...no extra lag / etc... Same here, running TS, and Xfire always when playing....

But I certainly feel the same frustrations as the author of the thread -- either I get in a helo with a pilot that gives me no clear shots, or I fly for someone shooting a machine gun at a tank

It'd be nice if vehicles like helos and the 2 seater jet had an automatic VoIP for the crew, seperate of the squad system.

I'm to the point that if I'm playing by myself I'll shy away from helos, and save the flying for when I have guys in TS.

Oh alright, so you just have it set at the stock 1600 > 800 > 400 settings. I have those, I haven't changed them as of yet. You know apparently you can set 5 dpi points, not just three; it's in the advanced game settings in SetPoint. Cool stuff.

Right now I'm gunning at 800, tanking at 1600, and helo piloting at 800 or 1600, depending on how quickly I need to turn or how softly I need to set my gunner up.

To OP: It's the same reason people dont give you health or ammo after spamming the radio when right next to them, jumping in front of their face, and eventually pistoling their leg after they run off ignoring you.

              Fools all of them.

At times like this its better to do Pilot and gunner yourself by switching seats than flying with noobs that havent a clue. ok you cant kill as many infantry but you can still TV blackhawks and cobras no problem when flying alone.

I have also managed a couple of times to pilot and gunner in the f-15 alone but its hard to switch seats and pull back up in time..

                  Re: Damn Gunners!

my friend and I always team up. I am the better pilot, so i always fly. He is ok at flying, but is a better gunner, so he guns. We use the voice chat to talk, and I always line him up for shots with the tv missile. He knows better than to start shooting at something with the machine gun unless he knows he can kill it, or if it is infantry. If it is another attack chopper, this is stupid to fire the machine gun (unless you have the MEC's flak cannon!) The hardest part about being a gunner is you have no real control of where you aim, unless you are hovering, which if your pilot is hovering, chances are you don't have a very great pilot because that is a easy kill for that enemy attack chopper coming in from your flank where you aren't looking. The only time i ever hover is when repairing or I know that the other team doesn't have any decent pilots lol. But for the gunner, its a hard job and I commend those out there that know how to do it correctly. Personally, i would rather fly, I just prefer to have the controls in my hands than let some idiot fly me around :p

Actually EM5 is the best heli gunner hes rank 2 in helicopter and has best kill to death ratio for time played in helicopter.

I fly for him on weekends and effe flys for him during the week.

Also consider his 1st 50 hours of helicopter were wasted as he was learning to fly with those hours then decided to give up on flying and be gunner

That's interesting ... so tell us: Being a pilot for the second best helo gunner in BF2 right now, what do you do? Do you rocket things yourself ever? Do you let him TV-guided everything? Does he use the TV-guideds from halfway across the map? Do you ever hover? Do you do quick attack passes or slow sweeps? Do you focus on infantry or vehicles more? If you had 8 infantry and 1 tank in an area, how would you go about attacking them? Which helo is your (and his) favorite? Which map? Do you ever go after commander assets? Do you ever cap flags?

Sorry for all the questions, but I think those are all things that could potentially help out both pilots and gunners out there. :)

                          Re: Damn Gunners!

                          So many questions lol ..

ok we mostly play wake island as china as there are so many infantry to kill ...

we like to spiral round the artillary island and kill inf ...from this island he can use the missile to kill cobra and blackhawks as they take off ...normally i can do a few spirals around the island then pause for a second and point towards the essex.

em5 prefers to use missile on anything he can .. boats, cobra's, humve, hawks, jets, even groups of infanrty.

if there was a tank we would always take the tank 1st then kill the inf.

were alwasy needing supply crates from commander as he uses so many missiles.

and yes he can hit hawks and cobras from half way across the map no problem all we need is an indication of were it is on the radar map.

I fire one or two rockets at infantry that he misses to point out were they are when he doesnt see them. or i may use rockets on the cobra but usually i get like 4 - 10 killz in a round and he gets 80 - 100.

when killing infantry always kill the anti tank guys 1st never hover statonary for more than a second. always stay in motion spining around flag areas and killing inf till your inf / tanks arrive .. i never take a flag with the heli

Oh and watch out for kamikazie jet noobs practice your evasive manouvers

it takes three tv missiles to take out a commander asset this is a waste as 3 missiles could be 18+ killz if 3 full hawks.

when there are only 20 or so tickets left dont waste your time repairing look for the hawk or cobra to tv guide for those extra killz

for an attack chopper to work right you have to be able to read the pilots mind ]
                              some hints for gunners

if the pilot goes to hover use the tv missle if no armour is near look for anti air emplacements he could be wanting you to take it out even if no one is there dont leave it standing for some one to get a back door shot off at you

if he's strafing a target dont bother with the missle as it goes to quick to bring to target gun and sweep it to the sides of missle run as hapless tankers will be running for cover dont be afraid to pummle buildings although they never show damage you can hurt anyone coweing inside and maybe get them to run away in fear for an easier kill

if you here the warning switch to diff camera modes and tell pilot where bad guy is you wont hit anyhting anyway when pilot is flying to save ass works best in VOIP obviously
my interpretation: blah blah blah blah blah. ever heard of periods?

Indeed this is the case on many servers were the admin do not have the skill to beat you so they just bann you.

Fortunatly there are some servers where people play real wars and anything goes.

Imo the only people that should ever be banned from servers should be people without mic's or refuse to play in squads. Still thats just an opinion and everyones entitled to one as you are yours.
